Caring for Your T VCR Please follow these guidelines to get the maximum performance from your TV VCR Placement e Do not place the TV VCR near extrerrely hot cold hunid or dusty places Do not place the TV VCR near appliances with electric motors that create magnetic fields such as vacuum cleaners e Keep the ventilation openings clear do not place the TV VCR on a soft surface such as cloth or paper e Place the TV VCR in an upright position only Liquids Do not handle liquids near or on the TV VCR Liquids that spill into it can cause serious damage Cabinet Never open the cabinet or touch the parts inside Wipe your TV VCR with a clean dry cloth Never use water cleaning fluids wax or chemicals Do not put heavy objects on top of the cabinet V deo Heads Use a head cleaning tape to remove any dirt that has accumulated on the video heads e Follow the instructions that corre with the cleaning tape excessive use of a cleaning tape can shorten head life Temperature If your TV VCR is moved froma cold to a warmplace unplug the i power cord and allow at least two hours for moisture that may have formed inside the unit to dry completely About Video Tapes Use only video tapes marked VHS with this TV VCR Caring for Video Tapes Keep tapes away fromdirect sunlight heat or cold e Insert tapes with the window side up and the arrow pointing away from you D

Programming the Channels Storing Channels in Menory Your TV VCR can automatically menrmrize all the channels you receive Once they are in memory you can use CHA and CHV to select channels without using the number buttons Vv Before you can store channels in memory you must have already selected the signal source See Selecting the Signal Source on this page 1 Press MENU to display the menu 2 Press CHV until Setup is highlighted Press VOL gt Menu Picture Time Set Setup VCR Setup Caption AVMove Sel UM Exit 3 Press CHV until Auto Program is highlighted Setup TV Line TV Air Cable Antenna Auto Program Add Erase Auto Clock Set Language English AVMove Sel MMenu 4 Press VOL or VOL button to begin automatic progranming Auto Program ANT 15 Mm Stop The TV VCR automatically cycles through all the channel numbers and places the available channels in memory This takes two to three ninutes Y Press MENU at any tineto interrupt the programming process and retum to nomal viewing 5 When the prograntrring process is complete press CHA or CHVY to scan the channels stored in the TV VCR s merrory Y Oxcasionally the TV VCR will miss an active channel if the signal is weak or if the channa is Off the air when you start progranming Likewise an unavailable channa may be induded in menmory if there are stray signals

9. 3 Plug the adapter into the terminal on the rear panel of the TV VCR IN FROM ANT VHF UHF Extend the antenna and adjust it for the clearest picture To reduce the risk of damage only adjust the antenna by moving the black plastic base Antennas With 75 chm Round Leads I Plug the lead into the terminal on the rear panel of the TV VCR IN FROM ANT VHF UHF Separate VHF and UHF Antennas If you have two separate anten nas for your TV VCR one VHF and one UHF you must combine the two antenna signals before connecting themto the TV VCR This procedure requires a com biner attachment that you can purchase at an electronics store INSTALLATION If you use a different 300 ohm antenna with twin flat leads fol low the directions below but skip step L 1 Push the stemof the rod antenna into the antenna mount 2 Connect both antenna leads to the combiner 3 Plug the combiner into the terminal on the rear panel of the TV VCR IN FROM ANT VHF UHF Choose one of the sections below for connecting a cable system Y This TVVGRis cable ready you don t need a converter for basic cable channels Cable Withouta Comverter Bax To connect cable without a converter box 1 Plug the inconing cable into the terminal on the rear panel of the TV VCR IN FROM ANT VHF UHF Cable Witha Converter Box If your cable company

Then if necessary the TV VCR will automatically adjust the tape s tracking Y For information on automatic trading see page 24 Y For infonration onthe tire Counter see page 24 1 While a tape is playing press P STILL to pause the tape There may be vertical jitter or horizontal streaks on the screen while a tape is paused You can try to eliminate these problems by pressing the TRK and TRK buttons on the remote control WV For infomation on automatic tracking see page 24 After five minutes in pause the TV VCR automatically enters PLAY mode protect the video heads Press PLAY to resurre playing the tape CHAPTER FOUR VCR OPERATION 23 VCR OPERATION Playing a V deo Tape continued Using Picture Search Picture Search lets you quickly search a pre recorded video tape for a particular scene 1 While playing a tape press and release FF or REW The images fromthe tape are displayed on the screen at a high speed This technique is useful if you are searching a srrall amount of tape If you want to search a large anount of tape stop the tape before pressing FF or REW There is no sound while you search for a picture at high speeds and sorre horizontal streaks may appear on the screen while you search 2 When you find the scene you want press and release FF or REW again to resurre playing the tape at regular speed Using Tracking This feature automatically adjusts tracking on vide
