2. er than 8 ohm the VSS Switchers can be set up in the following manner The four jumpers pictured above and circled in white control the impedance of the speakers as follows 1 Output 1 Left speaker 2 Output 1 Right speaker 3 Output 2 Left speaker 4 Output 2 Right speaker Each Jumper has four positions labeled X1 X2 X4 and X8 The VSS2 and VSS4 switchers are shipped with the jumpers in the X2 position This insures that the minimum load with all zones turned on will be 4 ohms This assumes that the speakers connected are all 8 ohm speaker systems If your speakers are 4 ohm systems you should reset the jumpers on all speakers to the X4 position Again this will insure that the minimum load to your amplifier will be 4 ohms with all speakers connected In either situation if one pair of the speakers is set to the B source while all others are set to the A source you will have to increase your level setting on the switchers volume control for the B source as the impedance will now be increased to 16 ohms and this may result in a slight loss of volume The important consideration here is that the minimum impedance is maintained at a safe level If your amplifier s instructions caution against using any speaker loads below 8 ohm then you should set the jumpers to X4 at all positions for 8 ohm speakers and increase the jumper setting to X8 for 4 ohm speakers If y
