14. are performing the digital synchronous recording from the CD player the stop of the CD playback will cause the DX R700 to enter the recording standby state While performing analog recording do not switch the input selector control on the amplifier 25 Using the level sync function Using the level sync function During analog recording the track numbers are assigned automatically since the level sync function is turned on Even so you can press the REC or the remote controller REC button to assign the track numbers manually To disable the automatic assignment of track numbers during recording turn off the level sync function Turn off the level sync function and assign the track numbers manually if the numbers are not automatically updated due to the situations as follows For analog recording The level sync function uses the recording source level to detect the end and beginning of tracks Therefore in the cases given below the track numbers may not be properly assigned e The recording on the cassette tape is poor e g the space between songs contains much noise e With music such as classical music where there may be very low volumes e Where the space between songs is extremely short e If the signal at the tuner is weak excessive noise e When recording from turntables For digital recording e When digitally recording satellite broadcasts the track numbers may not be assigned properly If thi

20. 14 Connecting the DX R700 Connecting to an amplifier Connect the DX R700 to the CDR TAPE or MD terminal on the amplifier Connect the red connectors of the supplied audio connection cables to the R channel terminals and the white connectors to the L channel terminals Make sure the connectors are properly inserted all the way If the connectors are not properly connected noise or improper operation may result Do not bundle the audio cables together with power cords or speaker cables Doing so may cause deterioration of the audio signal Connecting the RI cable With Onkyo components that are equipped with an RI connector use the supplied RI cable to connect the RI connector to the RI connector of the DX R700 The RI connectors are only effective if they are used in conjunction with an Onkyo amplifier with an RI connector Do not connect to a component other than an Onkyo component with an R I connector Doing so may damage the DX R700 The function of the upper and lower RI connectors are the same Connect to either one Connecting the RI cable only does not make the system operational You must also connect the audio cables as well Connecting to the digital input Using the digital input you can record digital audio from compact disc players DAT decks and other digital audio components that have a digital output Connect using the supplied optical digital cable and either the DIGITAL INPUT 1 or 2 input on the DX R700
