BIN BMC version number 6 8 Express5800 320Ma Software Installation and Configuration Guide Updating BMC Firmware To update BMC firmware Perform the following steps to ensure that your system contains the files necessary for updating the BMC firmware and to update the firmware 1 2 Copy the BMC firmware file for your system as specified in Table 6 2 and save it to the following folder ProgramFiles Stratus Firmware BMC Aria In ftSMC expand ftServer Drivers right click NEC Solutions America Inc IPMI Driver sraipmi and select Update Firmware Enter the path name and file name of the firmware file and click Finish to automatically update the primary and secondary BMCs The following message appears indicating that the system is starting to update the firmware The operation completed successfully Click OK in the message box It takes approximately five minutes to update each BMC J N CAUTION Do not perform any failovers or remove power from the system while the BMC firmware is being updated If you do the system may not recognize the BMC devices To verify that the firmware has been updated for each BMC search for two system event log entries number 4233 one for each BMC that indicate that the firmware burn succeeded You can also verify that ftSMC displays the new firmware version for the BMC 120 nodes NOTE If the BMC firmware update is unsuccessful you can perform this procedure aga

Finish If you restart the system at this prompt the installation will not complete properly 2 Be sure to install the third party software as NEC Solutions America Inc does not support Express5800 320Ma systems that lack this software 7 6 Express5800 320Ma Software Installation and Configuration Guide Verifying That the Software Upgraded Successfully 5 When the Installation Completed dialog box appears click Restart Restarting the system activates some of the newly upgraded drivers for Express5800 320Ma systems You cannot use ftSMC until the system is restarted After the system has restarted log on The Express5800 320Ma Post Installation Check window appears for several minutes Wait until the Post Installation Check Tool finishes gathering and verifying the information If the Installation Completed dialog box lists warnings or errors click View Log To find the event that generated the warning or error search for the word failed in the log When you have resolved the errors click Restart in the Installation Completed dialog box Verifying That the Software Upgraded Successfully After you upgrade the post installation verification tool runs to make sure that the upgrade was successful and that the system is restored to full operation The post installation verification tool creates a file named Postcheck_yyyy_mm_dd_hh_mm ixt in the ProgramFiles Stratus Customerservice Installcheck folder on the system
