USER MANUAL pH 55 pH 56 Pocket size pH C F Meters MARTINI instruments www martini instruments com ZH9SHdLSI 30 80 Automatic Temperature _ Measuring unit Compensation indicator ATC pH on main LCD Instability indicator i BH im Main LCD oS Calibration indicator CAL M m C NA NA a Od S Te t di Low battery indicator D a YN AN w F i Secondary LCD OPERATIONAL GUIDE e Remove the electrode cap and intrerse the meter in MA9015 storage solution for 2 hours to activate the electrode e Tum the neter on by pressing the ON OFF button All the used segnrents onthe LCD will be visible for 1 second or as long as the button is pressed Intvrerse the electrode in the solution to be tested Stir gently and weit for the reading to stabilize i e the instability indicator hour glass on the LCD tums off e The pH value is autorratically compensated for ten perature and will be displayed on the main LCD while the temperature is shown on the secondary LCD To freeze the display while in measurement nods press and hold the SET HOLD button The HOLD message appears on the sec ondary display and the reading will be fro zen on the LCD Press any button to retum to normal node To turn the meter off press the ON OFF button The OFF message will appear on the secondary display Release the button Note e Before taking any rreasurerrent make su
3. age wil appear on the display The first calibration point is stored and the neter retums to nomal measure netnode For better accuracy it is always recom mended to perform a 2 point calibration e Fora two point calibration inmnrerse the dec trode in pH 7 01 or pH 6 86 buffer solution e After the first point has been accepted the meter will then ask for the second buffer and the message pH 4 01 USE will appear e Rinse the electrode and intrerse it in the second solution PH 4 01 10 01 or 9 18 If a velid buffer value is detected the REC message is displayed and the neter com pletes the calibration procedure The LCD shows the accepted value with the OK 2 message and the instrunrent retums to the nonmal neasurenrrert mode Otherwise if no valid buffer is detected the meter displays the WRNG rressage Note When the calibration procedure is com pleted the CAL tag is tumed on e To quit the procedure and reum to the last calibration cata after entering the calibration mode press the ON OFF buton The secondary LCD displays ESC for 1 second and then the neter retums to the nomal nreasurerrert moce e To reset to the default values and dear a previous calibration press the SET HOLD button after entering the calibration mode and before the first point is accepted The secondary LCD displays CLR for 1 second the neter resets to the default cali bration and the CAL tag on the LCD tums off SETUP S
4. etup moce allows the selection of tenperature C or F and pH buffer set for calibration To enter the Setup mode press the ON OFF button until CAL on the secondary LCD is replaced by TEMP and the current tenpera ture unit e g TEMP C Then e for O F selection use the SET HOLD but ton then press the ON OFF button once to erter the buffer set selection or twice to retum to the nomal neasurerrent nod e to change the calibration buffer set after setting the tenperature unit press ON OFF once and select the buffer set pH 7 01 BUFF or pH 686 BUFF for NIST by using the SET HOLD button Press ON OFF to reum to the nomal neasurerrent mode ELECTRODE REPLACEMENT e Remove the protective cap and unscrewthe Plastic ring on the top of the electrode e Pull out the MIS56P electrode and replace it with a newore e Make sure the gaskets are in place before screwing back the ring BATTERY REPLACEMENT Vhen the batteries becone weak the battery symbol on the LCD will light up to advise that only a few hours of working tine is remaining The neter is also provided with BEPS Battery Error Prevention Systen which avoids any erroneous readings due to low battery level by autorreitically switching the meter off Itis recontrended to replace the batteries int rredaiely To replace the batteries unscrew the battery cormpartrrent cap and replace all four 1 5V bet teries while paying atten
5. re the neter is calibrated the CAL tag is on e After use always tum the neter OFF rinse the electroce with wetter to nininize contani nation and store it with a few drops of storage MA9015 or pH7 M10007 solution in the protective cap NEVER USE DISTILLED OR DEIONIZED WA TER FOR STORAGE PURPOSE CALIBRATION PROCEDURE For better accuracy frequent calibration of the tester is recontrended Calibration is also nec essary after dectrode replacerrert after testing aggressive cherricals and where irene ac curacy is required Fromnonrel operation node press and hold the ON OFF CAL button until the OFF nes sage on the secondary LCD is substituted by CAL Release the button e The instrurrent enters the calibration mode by displaying pH 7 01 USE or pH 6 86 USE if the NIST buffer set wes selected e For a single point calibration inverse the electrode in any buffer i e PH 4 01 7 01 or 6 86 10 01 or 9 18 e The neter activates the automatic buffer rac ognition If no valid buffer is detected the meter keeps the USE indication active for 12 seconds and then replaces it with WRNG indicating that the sanple being measured is not a valid buffer Otherwise if a valid buffer is detected then its value is shown on the primary display and REC appears on the secondary LCD If the pH 7 01 or PH 6 86 wes used press the SET button to exit the Calibration node and the OK 1 mess
