LOWER 2x 4 BOARD 5 4142 SNOWBLOWER REMOVAL SNOWBLOWER REMOVAL Park lawn tractor safely on a flat level surface Make sure the PTO knob is in the OFF position Turn the engine OFF remove the ignition key and set the parking brake ON Disconnect the spark plug caps 1 Use lift lever to raise snowblower and move skid wheels to the transport position Use lift lever to lower snowblower and put lift lever in the forward locked position 2 Release primary belt tenston by rotating tensioner arm over center imm 3 Remove primary belt from the PTO pulley 584142 SNOWBLOWER 35 REMOVAL 4 Remove lock pin securing chute crank handle to rotation worm gear 5 Slide chute crank handle through bushing in chute handle bracket CHUTE CRANK HANDLE 6 With the lift arm in the locked position remove lock pin and washer securing lift arm rod to the lift arrn 7 Remove lift rod assembly from lift arm latch 36 SB4142 SNOWBLOWER 8 Remove the right offset link A 9 Remove the lett offset link B 10 Disengage right and left latches and allow snowblower frame to drop down from rear mounting studs 11 Pull snowblower forward until front pins are disengaged Make sure left rear of snowblower frame goes outside the tie rod and roll snowblower out from under lawn tractor 5 4142 SNOWBLOWER REMOVAL RIGHT OFFSET LINK n 37 REMOVAL 12

11. blind corners cautiously Always observe the area ahead Avoid obstacles and stay away from holes ditches soft or steep embankments and other potentially dangerous areas e Wet surfaces reduce traction and stability Always maintain proper traction f you strike a foreign object disengage the PTO shut off the engine set the parking brake remove the ignition key Inspect and repair any damage before operating snowblower again Use weight bracket kit and counterweights purchased separately for extra traction and proper balance SB4142 SNOWBLOWER 9 OPERATION STARTING Read the lawn tractor owner s manual carefully Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and proper use of the lawn tractor Know how to stop the lawn tractor and disengage the controis quickly Make sure the auger blades blower head and discharge chute are free of any debris or objects Refer to the lawn tractor owner s manual for detailed instructions on starting the engine and parking the lawn tractor When removing snow do not use the snowblower as a dozer blade to push snow Let the snowblower work its way through deep drifts If the travel speed of the lawn tractor is too fast the snowblower may become overloaded and clog For best results raise the snowbiower and remove a top layer of snow A second pass will remove the remaining snow Always operate the snowblower with the throttle set to FAST Using other throttle settings can red

UTE DISCHARGE CHUTE DEFLECTOR DEFLECTOR LOCKING KNOB 2 DISCHARGE CHUTE CRANK HANOLE f Rie POWER TAKE OFF PTO lt KNOB COUNTERWEIGHT 4 SKID SHOE 2 SB4142 SNOWBLOWER 5 CONTROLS DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS Discharge Chute Crank Handle Rotating this crank handle turns the discharge chute When the chute is in the center pointing straight ahead the discharge chute can be rotated 110 to the right or left Turning the crank handle counterclockwise will direct chute discharge to the left Turning the crank handle clockwise will direct chute discharge to the right Discharge Chute Deflector This chute deflector controls the angle at which the snow is discharged Adjust the chute deflector angle according to the distance the snow must be thrown Raise the chute deflector for longer distances The two side locking knobs hoid the chute deflector at the desired angle Power Take Off PTO Knob The PTO knob controls engine power engagement and disengagement to the snowblower through an electric clutch and belt Pulling the PTO knob up to the ON position engages the snowblower auger and blower Pushing the PTO knob down to the OFF position stops the snowblower auger and blower Lift Lever The lift ever has two positions which raise and lower the snowblower Transport position raises snowbiower for transport Lockout position lowers snowbiower for snow removal This position locks out the lift ass

41. t ground speed possible to achieve a satisfactory job Stay aware of the snowblower discharge direction To avoid snow from being blown back on the operator operate snowbjower with the wind blowing in the discharge direction if possible After stopping the snowblower in wet freezing conditions move the PTO knob to the ON positon to remove any remaining snow or water from the auger area Move the PTO knob to the OFF position and move the lift lever to the transport position to lift the snowblower off the ground surface to prevent the snowblower from freezing to the ground If water is left around the auger and allowed to freeze the snowblower will vibrate when the PTO knob is moved to ON Check the shear bolts for tightness To prevent damage to the snowblower never operate the snowblower with a loose or damaged shear bolt or pin Always use grooved shear boits on the auger shaft and the special shear pin on the blower assembly Slopes Slopes are a major factor in loss of control and tip over accidents which can result in severe injury or death All slopes require extra caution If you cannot back up the slope or feel uneasy on it do not operate on a slope Remove obstacles such as rocks tree limbs etc Watch for holes ruts or bumps Uneven terrain could overturn the lawn tractor Always remove snow up and down the face of slopes never across slopes Do not operate near dropoffs ditches or embankments The lawn tractor could su

43. uce performance and clog the discharge chute If you strike a foreign object move the PTO knob to OFF shut the engine OFF and remove the ignition key Inspect for and repair any damage before operating the snowblower again If the snowblower should start to vibrate abnormally stop the engine immediately and check for the cause Vibration is generally an indication of trouble As a general rule do not operate the snowblower in reverse If itis absolutely necessary to back up a Move the PTO knob to the OFF position b Check the area on the ground directly behind the tractor c Continue to observe area behind the tractor while backing up Prevent damage to the snowblower by removing large foreign objects from the snow removal area Always remain in the operator s position when operating the snowblower With the lift lever in the lockout position start the lawn tractor After the engine has warmed up for at least a minute move the throttle to FAST Verify that the snowblower discharge chute is properly positioned then move the PTO knob to the ON Dosition Adjust the lawn tractor ground speed as needed Use the travel pedais to change ground speed never the throttle For best perfomance the throttle should always be set to FAST 10 584142 SNOWBLOWER OPERATION Snow Removal Never operate the tractor and snowbiower without good visibility Foreign objects in snow may be thrown farther than the snow itself Use the slowes
