Maintaining and Troubleshooting Your DVD Player Read this chapter to learn how to maintain and troubleshoot your DVD player 61 Chapter 5 Maintaining and Troubleshooting Your DVD Player Cleaning and maintenance m Your DVD player is cooled by air circulated through the vents on the bottom of the case Keep these vents free of dust With the DVD player turned off and unplugged brush the dust away from the vents with a damp cloth Be careful not to drip any water into the vents Do not attempt to clean dust from the inside of your DVD player Do not use abrasive or solvent cleaners because they can damage the finish m Do not allow any excessive water or moisture to come into contact with the surface of the DVD player If water or moisture gets inside your player operating problems and electrical and shock hazards may result m Do not scratch or hit the case with your fingers or any hard objects Care and handling of discs 62 m When handling a disc do not touch the sides m Do not stick paper to or write anything on the printed surface Fingermarks and dust on the recorded surface should be carefully wiped off with a soft cloth For more information see To clean CDs or DVDs on page 63 Always keep the discs in their cases after use to protect them from dust and scratches Do not use a cracked deformed or repaired disc These discs are easily broken and may cause serious personal injury and player ma
