3. fuse box or circuit breaker before trouble shooting your fan TROUBLE Trouble Shooting PROBABLE CAUSE SUGGESTED REMEDY 1 Fan will not start Fuse or circuit breaker blown Loose power line connections to the fan Reversing switch in neutral position Check main and branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers Check line wire connections to the fan WARNING Make sure main power is turned OFF Make sure reversing switch position is all the way to one side 2 Fan sounds noisy Blades not attached to fan Loose screws in motor housing Screws securing fan blade flanges to motor hub are loose Motor noise caused by solid state variable speed control Screws holding blades to flanges are loose Attach blades to fan before operating Check to make sure all screws in motor housing are snug not over tight Check to make sure the screws which attach the fan flanges to the motor hub are tight Some fan motors are sensitive to signals from Solid State variable speed controls If Solid State Control is used and motor noise results choose an alternative control method Tighten screws securely 3 Fan wobbles excessively Setscrew in motor coupling is loose Setscrew in hanger ball downrod assembly is loose Screws securing fan blade flanges to motor are loose Hanger bracket and or ceiling outlet box is not securely fa

BUSHING Q KNURLED NUT 4 Figure 20 Position the switch chain bushing in the hole in the light adapter plate Figure 19 and secure using the knurled nut SWITCH CHAIN LD BUSHING Q KNURLED NUT n REVERSING supplied the wiring harness included as part of Figure 19 ile a the light fixture assembly must be removed and be reinstalled in the light adapter plate This Section 5 Position the two switches of the harness assembly in the mounting bracket the small switch light switch installs in the left hole and the larger switch speed control switch installs in the right hole Figure 20 Secure the switches using the appropriate knurled nuts Pass the speed control switch chain through the chain bushing If desired tape the other switch chain to the adapter plate as shown tape not supplied CAPACITOR LIGHT ADAPTER LATE SPEED CONTROL WITCH CHAIN BUSHING KNURLED NUT MOUNTING BRACKET Remove one protective covering from the two sided foam tape supplied and apply the foam tape to the capacitor Remove the remaining protective covering and then firmly press the capacitor onto the adapter plate Figure 20 7 Position the reversing switch in the slot in the adapter plate and secure using two screws Figure 19 IMPORTANT LIGHT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY REVERSING ad Figure 18 The next three steps step 8 9 and 10 are to be perf

RACKET S i DOWNROD ASSEMBLY FAN BLADES Assembling and Hanging the Ceiling Fan 1 Remove the fan motor assembly from the protec tive plastic bag and then carefully remove the foam shipping material from between the fan motor and the upper housing Figure 1 FAN MOTOR FAN MOTOR HOUSING Figure 1 2 Place the fan motor assembly in the lower styro foam pad with the top of the motor facing up The WS MOTOR COUPLING ag Figure 3 Sie lower styrofoam pad serves as a holder for the fan motor assembly during the first stages of assembly 3 Remove the hanger ball by loosening the setscrew in the hanger ball until the ball falls freely down the downrod Figure 2 Remove the pin from the downrod then remove the hanger ball Retain the pin and hanger ball for reinstallation in step 6 PIN HANGER BALL SI Figure 2 SETSCREW 4 Separate untwist and unkink the three 80 motor leads Route the motor lead wires through the Figure 4 downrod Remove the upper setscrew from the motor coupling Align the clevis pin holes in the downrod with the holes in the motor coupling Install the clevis pin and secure with the hairpin clip Figure 3 The clevis pin must go through the holes in the motor coupling and the holes in the downrod Be sure to push the straight leg of the hairpin clip through the hole nea

10. d Figure 9 After connections have been made turn leads upward and carefully push leads into the outlet box with the white and green leads on one side of the outlet box and the black and blue leads on the other side of the outlet box A WARNING Check to see that all connections are tight including ground and that no bare wire is visible at the wire connectors except for the ground wire 3 Screw the two threaded studs supplied into the tapped holes in the hanger bracket Figure 9 4 Lift the ceiling cover up to the threaded studs and turn until studs protrude through the holes in the ceiling cover Figure 10 5 Secure the ceiling cover in place by sliding 8 lockwashers over the threaded studs and installing the two knurled knobs supplied Figure 10 Tighten the knurled knobs securely until the ceiling cover fits snugly against the ceiling and the hole in the ceiling cover is clear of the downrod 6 Figure 12 THREADED STUD 8 LOCKWASHER KNURLED oa 8 Figure 10 4y WARNING To avoid possible fire or shock make sure that the CEILING COVER electrical wires are completely inside the outlet box and not pinched between the ceiling cover and the ceiling Final Assembly of the Ceiling Fan 1 Mount the blade flange to the blade using three 3 16 24 x 5 16 slotted Phillips head screws and three M5 flat washers supplied Figure 11 Repeat this procedure for the re

13. efore servicing or cleaning unit switch power off at service panel and lock service panel disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally When the service disconnecting means cannot be locked securely fasten a warning device such as a tag to the service panel Be careful of the fan and blades when cleaning painting or working near the fan Always turn off the power to the ceiling fan before servicing Do not put anything into the fan blades while they are turning Do not operate reversing switch until fan blades have come to a complete stop Additional Safety Instructions for Installation To avoid possible shock be sure electricity is turned off at the fuse box before wiring and do not operate fan without blades All wiring must satisfy National and Local Electrical Codes Use the National Electrical Code if Local Codes do not exist The ceiling fan must be grounded as a precaution against possible electrical shock Electrical installation should be made or approved by a licensed electrician The outlet box and joist must be securely mounted and capable of reliably supporting at least 50 pounds Use only U L outlet boxes listed as acceptable for fan support and use the mounting screws provided with the outlet box Most outlet boxes commonly used for support of light fixtures are not acceptable for fan support and may need to be replaced Consult a qualified electrician if in doubt The downrod
14. furnished with the fan provides the minimum recommended floor to fan blade clearance for an 8 foot ceiling The fan must be mounted with the fan blades at least 7 feet from the floor to prevent accidental contact with the fan blades The light fixture supplied with the ceiling fan is designed to use a long neck 75 watt maximum halogen flood lamp Do not install a lamp that exceeds 75 watts Follow the recommended instructions for the proper method of wiring your ceiling fan If you do not know enough about electrical wiring have your fan installed by a licensed electrician WARNING To avoid fire shock or injury do not use an Emerson or any other brand of control not specifically approved for this fan WARNING This product is designed to use only those parts supplied with this product and or any accessories designated specifically for use with this product by Emerson Substitution of parts or accessories not designated for use with this product by Emerson could result in personal injury or property damage WARNING To Reduce the risk of personal injury do not bend the blade flange when installing the blade flanges balancing the blades or cleaning the fan Do not insert foreign objects in between rotating fan blades DATE CODE The date code of this fan may be found on the box stamped in ink on a white label You should record this data above and keep it in a safe place for future use This Manu
15. lide down over the coupling Repeat this procedure for the other pull chain Y LIGHT FIXTURE N SWITCHES e WOOD PENDANT CHAIN COUPLING Installation of Light Adapter Plate IMPORTANT Perform the procedures in this Section ONLY if you intent to install your ceiling fan without using the light fixture supplied with the fan or if you are going to use a different Emerson light fixture with your fan NOTE In order to use the light adapter plate contains the procedures to accomplish this 1 Figure 17 2 DISCONNECT THE LIGHT FIXTURE CONNECTOR WIRING FROM THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR Disconnect the light fixture connector from the wiring harness connector Figure 17 Unscrew the knurled nuts from the light switch and the speed control switch The knurled nuts are not interchangeable keep them with their respective switch Gently pry the capacitor secured by two sided tape from the light fixture assembly CAPACITOR LIGHT FIXTURE U ASSEMBLY SPEED CONTROL SWITCH KNURLED NUT HARNESS CONNECTOR LIGHT SWITCH KNURLED NUT Remove and retain the two screws securing the 6 reversing switch to the light fixture Figure 18 Remove and retain the harness assembly Remove the knurled nut from one of the switch chain bushings Figure 18 Retain the knurled nut and bushing for installation in the next step SWITCH CHAIN BS

18. ose setscrew could create fan wobble 2 WARNING It is critical that the pin in the hanger ball is properly installed and the setscrew securely tightened Failure to verify that the pin and setscrew are properly installed could result in the fan falling A WARNING To reduce the risk of fire electric shock or personal an injury mount fan to outlet box marked acceptable for fan support and use screws supplied with outlet box Most outlet boxes commonly used for support of light fixtures are not acceptable for fan support and may need to be replaced Consult a qualified electrician in in doubt DOWNROD CEILING COVER 9 Securely attach the hanger bracket to the outlet box using the two screws supplied with the outlet box Figure 7 al Ss N i l x OUTLET Figure 5 1 7 i 5 an a aK i 2 7 The fan comes with blue black and white leads that are 80 long Before installing the fan measure up approximately 6 to 9 inches above the top of hanger the ball downrod assembly Cut off excess leads and strip back insulation 1 2 inch from the end of TWO SCREWS leads SUPPLIED WITH e OUTLET BOX HANGER Wa Your new ceiling fan will require a grounded 120 BRACKET volts AC 60 Hz 15 amp electrical supply line If your fan is to replace an existing ceiling light fix ture turn electricity off at the main fuse box at this Figure 7 time and remove the existing light fixture 10 Ca
19. r the end of the clevis pin until the curved portion of the hairpin clip snaps around the clevis pin The hairpin clip must be properly installed to prevent the clevis pin from working loose Pull on the downrod to make sure the clevis pin is properly installed Reinstall the upper setscrew in the motor coupling Figure 3 Check that the two lower setscrews are tightened securely NOTE The setscrews must be properly installed as described above or fan wobble could result 4 A WARNING It is critical that the clevis pin in the motor coupling is properly installed and the setscrews securely tightened Failure to verify that the pin and setscrews are properly installed could result in the fan falling Q gt ane 5 Make sure the grommet is properly installed in the coupling cover then slide the coupling cover on the downrod until it rests on the motor housing Place the ceiling cover over the downrod Be sure that the ceiling cover and the coupling cover are both oriented correctly Figure 4 CEILING COVER N COUPLING COVER 6 Reinstall the hanger ball Figure 5 on the downrod as follows Route the three 80 motor leads through the hanger ball Position the pin through the two holes in the downrod and align the hanger ball so the pin is captured in the groove in the top of the hanger ball Pull the hanger ball up tight against the pin and securely tighten the setscrew in the hanger ball A lo
