1. POWER POWER Button Light NOTE For Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4 0 log on to Windows as an Administrator before continuing A IMPORTANT If you see this screen click Cancel and continue Add New Hardware Wizard This wizard searches for new drivers for Canon 500 device driver is a software program that makes a hardware device work Close any open software applications then insert the S500 Setup Software amp User s Guide CD ROM The setup program should run automatically NOTE If the setup program does not run click Start then Run then type x msetup exe where x is your CD ROM drive Read the Welcome screen then click Next Welcome You can install a BJ printer driver with this software Please read the following before carrying out installation Ifthe Add New Hardware Wizard appears click Cancel Ifyou are using a USB cable with Windows 98 turn the printer off after clicking Cancel or disconnect the cable before using this software itis strongly recommended that you close all running applications including any anti virus software before you begin to install software In that case click Cancel and exit this software TT i i Cancel Read the License Agreement then click Yes When the main menu appears click Install Software Canon Q Install Software Q View Documentation j NOTE If you are prompted to restart Windows remove the CD R2. to the right of the printhead After the computer restarts select the Apple menu then Chooser About Corel PHOTO PAIMT 8 LE AirPort E Apple DVD Player gp Apple System Profiler Calculator Chooser Ci Control Panels Click the 500 icon in the Chooser The printer name will highlight and move to the right panel Chooser Connected to Active Inactive 7 6 2 AppleTalk NOTE To use the B Print Monitor click the Backgrounding button to the On position Close the Chooser Continue with step 7 Align the Printhead Before using the printer align the printhead to ensure the best quality printing Place a sheet of blank paper in the paper rest Start the alignment procedure Windows a Click Start then Settings then Printers b Right click the Canon 500 icon then click Properties c Click the Maintenance tab then click the Print Head Alignment icon d When asked to start printhead alignment click OK Starting Print Head Alignment to compensate for print head installation position error Alignment entails printing so do the following Ready the printer connect the cable and turn the power on move the printer s paper thickness lever left and load a sheet of plain paper in the sheet feeder Head alignment patterns will be printed Once this operation starts it cannot be stopped until it is complete Do you want to m

Canon 1 Unpack the Printer 2 Prepare the Printer Carefully remove all items from the box Remove the orange shipping tape from the front and sides of the printer Shipping Tape S500 Series Color Bubble Jet Print i oor SORET Plug the power cord into the back of the printer and connect the other end toa power outlet ra Output Tray Press the POWER button POWER POWER Button Light Quick Start Guide Documentation and Software Kit Open the front cover The printhead holder automatically moves to the center Remove the protective orange tape S500 BJ Bubble Jet Printhead Power Cord Protective tape ial b a Fes Serial number BCI 3eC Cyan BCl 3eM Magenta BCI 3eBK Black BCI 3eY Yellow Write down the serial number located to the right of the printhead You will need this later to register the product Start Here Easy Setup Instructions 3 Install the Printhead Remove the printhead from its package Turn the printhead over then remove the orange protective cap NOTE Do not touch the electrical contacts Electrical contacts he Raise the gray lock lever Gently slide the printhead into the holder The printhead will rest at a slight angle Do not press it down Lower the lock lever and gently press it down until it locks into place 4 Install the Ink Tanks Pull the orange tab off the yellow in
