Index Still Images VIOVIES Follow these instructions to turn the camera on shoot still images or movies and then view them Shooting Smart Auto For fully automatic selection of the optimal settings for specific scenes simply let the camera determine the subject and shooting conditions 1 Make sure the covers are closed 9 Make sure that both the memory card battery cover lock and terminal cover lock return to the positions shown with the red marks no longer visible f either cover is not fully closed water may enter the camera when it gets wet which may damage it 2 Turn the camera on 9 Press the power button The startup screen is displayed 3 Enter AUTO mode Press the lt gt button press the lt gt lt gt buttons to choose AUTO and then press the lt gt button 9 cons representing the scene and image stabilization mode are displayed in the upper right of the screen 9 Frames displayed around any detected subjects indicate that they are in focus 4 Compose the shot 9 To zoom in and enlarge the subject press the lt gt telephoto zoom button and to zoom away from the subject press the lt gt wide angle zoom button 5 Shoot Shooting Still Images DFocus 9 Press the shutter button lightly halfway down The camera beeps twice after focusing and AF frames are displayed to indicate image areas in focus
