1. Seller hardware Products are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for a period of three 3 months from the date of shipment unless otherwise provided by Seller in writing provided the Product remains unmodified and is operated under normal and proper conditions Warranty provisions and durations on software integrated installed systems Product modified or designed to meet specific customer specifications Custom Products remanufactured products and reconditioned or upgraded products shall be as provided in the applicable Product specification in effect at the time of purchase or in the accompanying software license B Spare Parts Spare parts i e parts components or subassemblies sold by Seller for use in the service and maintenance of Products are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for a period of thirty 30 days from the date of shipment Spare parts may be new or originate from returned units under the conditions set forth in subsection D below C Repair of Symbol branded hardware For repairs on Symbol branded hardware Products under this Agreement including repairs covered by warranty the repair services provided are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials on the repaired component of the Product for a period of thirty 30 days from the shipment date of the repaired Product or until the end of the original warranty period whichever is longer D Product Service2. F Warranty Provisions T he above warranty provisions shall not apply to any Product i which has been repaired tampered with altered or modified except by Seller s authorized service personnel ii in which the defects or damage to the Product result from normal wear and tear misuse negligence improper storage water or other liquids battery leakage use of parts or accessories not approved or supplied by Symbol or failure to perform operator handling and scheduled maintenance instructions supplied by Seller iii which has been subjected to unusual physical or electrical stress abuse or accident or forces or exposure beyond normal use within the specified operational and environmental parameters set forth in the applicable Product specification nor shall the above warranty provisions apply to any expendable or consumable items such as batteries supplied with the Product EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTY OF TITLE AND THE EX PRESS WARRANTIES STATED ABOVE SELLER DISCLAIMSALL WARRANTIESON PRODUCTSFURNISHED HEREUNDER INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIESOF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR USE ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIESTHAT MAY BE IM POSED BY LAW ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD SOME STATESOR COUNTRIESDO NOT ALLOW A LIMITATION ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTSOR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAM AGESFOR CONSUMER PRODUCTS IN SUCH STATESOR COUNTRIES FOR SUCH PRODUCTS SOME EXCLUSIONS OR LIM

Products may be serviced or manufactured with parts components or subassemblies that originate from returned products and that have been tested as meeting applicable specifications for equivalent new material and Products T he sole obligation of Seller for defective hardware Products is limited to repair or replacement at Seller s option on a return to service depot basis with prior Seller authorization Customer is responsible for shipment to the Seller and assumes all costs and risks associated with this transportation return shipment to the Customer will be at Seller s expense Customer shall be responsible for return shipment charges for product returned where Seller determines there is no defect N o Defect Found or for product returned that Seller determines is not eligible for warranty repair No charge will be made to Buyer for replacement parts for warranty repairs Seller is not responsible for any damage to or loss of any software programs data or removable data storage media or the restoration or reinstallation of any software programs or data other than the software if any installed by Seller during manufacture of the Product E Original Warranty Period Except for the warranty applying solely to the repaired component arising from a repair service as provided in Section C above the aforementioned provisions do not extend the original warranty period of any Product that had either been repaired or replaced by Seller

7. 500 Product Reference Guide before performing the following steps Important You must perform your first H otSync operation with a local direct connection rather than using a modem To perform a H otSync operation for the first time 1 Double click the Palm Desktop icon on the Windows desktop or select Palm Desktop from the Start menu to start the Palm Desktop software 2 Click the G icon in the Windows System Tray to open the H otSync M anager menu Tip The Windows System Tray is usually in the lower right corner on your computer display The location may vary depending on the lo cation of the taskbar and the version of Windows you are using 3 Click Local from the H otSync M anager menu to indicate that you are us ing the cradle to synchronize 4 Turn on the SPT 1500 terminal and slide it into the cradle Tip The curved edge on the bottom of the SPT 1500 terminal should align smoothly with the cradle when it is inserted proper ly Quick Reference Pressthe amp button on the front of the SPT 1500 cradleto open the N ew User dialog Enter a user name for your SPT 1500 terminal and click the OK button to open the H otSync Progress dialog and start the syn chronization process Important Every SPT 1500 connected terminal should havea unique name N ever try to synchronize more than one SPT 1500 connected terminal to the same user name HotSync button HotSync Progress The HotSync progress window

11. nnecting your cradle to your computer and installing the H otSync Software to enable synchronization To connect your SPT 1500 cradle to your computer turn off your computer and plug the cable from the SPT 1500 cradle into the serial communications port on your computer UT s Serial Port Jf N ote Your SPT 1500 cradle requires a dedicated port It cannot sharea port with an internal modem or other device If you are unsure about the exact location of the serial port on your computer refer to the user s manual supplied with the computer Installing the HotSync Software Using H otSync technology you can fully synchronize the information on your SPT 1500 terminal with the information on your computer Changes you make on your SPT 1500 terminal or Palm Desktop appear in both places after you synchronize For instructions on installing the H otSync Software please refer to the SPT 1500 Product Reference Guide p n 70 33757 xx SPT 1500 Cradtle Performing a HotSync Operation for the First Time The first time you synchronize your data you need to enter user information on both the SPT 1500 terminal and the Palm Desktop Once you enter this information and synchronize the H otSync M anager recognizes your SPT 1500 terminal and doesn t ask for this information again If you are a System Administrator preparing several SPT 1500 connected terminals for a group of users see Creating a User Profile in the SPT 1
