Changing the VCR Plus and GUIDE Plus recording or viewing pattern To change the recording or viewing pattern first push the cursor stick to 4 to select the program you want to change Then press the green Change button repeatedly to select Once Daily or Weekly You cannot select Daily or Weekly for a program that airs more than seven days ahead Changing the recording speed To change the recording speed first push the cursor stick to to select the program you want to change Then press SP EP to select the tape speed The selected tape speed appears in the information box Canceling a VCR Plus or GUIDE Plus recording or viewing schedule Push the cursor stick to to select the program you want to cancel and press the blue Remove button The selected program is canceled and disappears from the program list on the Schedule menu If you cancel the program currently recording the VCR automatically turns off Tip e To stop the current VCR Plus or GUIDE Plus recording or viewing select the program you want to stop and press the blue STOP button continued GUIDE Plus System 71 Using the Schedule menu continued Recording TV programs using VCR Plus You can set a future program which isn t on the GUIDE Plus list yet by using the PlusCode feature of VCR Plus For details about VCR Plus see How VCR Plus works on page 12 1 Press VCR Plus The Enter Pluscode screen appears

Safety e Operate the unit only on 120 V AC 60 Hz e If anything falls into the cabinet unplug the unit and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further e This unit is not disconnected from the AC power source mains as long as it is connected to the wall outlet even if the unit itself has been turned off e One blade of the plug is wider than the other for the purpose of safety and will fit into the power outlet only one way If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet contact your Sony dealer Unplug the unit from the wall outlet if you do not intend to use it for an extended period of time To disconnect the cord pull it out by the plug never by the cord Installing e Allow adequate air circulation to prevent internal heat buildup e Do not place the unit on surfaces rugs blankets etc or near materials curtains draperies that may block the ventilation slots e Do not install the unit near heat sources such as radiators or air ducts or in a place subject to direct sunlight excessive dust mechanical vibration or shock e Do not install the unit in an inclined position It is designed to be operated in a horizontal position only Keep the unit and cassettes away from equipment with strong magnets such as microwave ovens or large loudspeakers e Do not place heavy objects on the unit e If the unit is brought directly from a cold to a warm location moisture

The Grid menu doesn t appear on the TV screen when you press GUIDE e If using a cable box check that it is turned on e Make sure the TV is set to the channel for the VCR If you are using a monitor set it to video input e Check that the VCR is in stop mode The program listing data disappeared from the program list e A power cut occurred or the VCR was disconnected from the wall outlet for more than one hour Turn off the VCR so that the VCR can receive the program listing data The VCR has not received the program listing data e Turn off the VCR The next data transmission start time appears in the information box of the Grid menu The GUIDE Plus or VCR Plus timer recording program does not record or timer recording stops halfway e A power cut occurred during the timer recording Others A tape cannot be inserted e Check that a tape isn t already in the tape compartment The remote commander does not function e Make sure you are pointing the remote commander at the remote sensor on the VCR e Replace all the batteries in the remote commander with new ones if they are weak e If you are not using S Link make sure that both miniplugs are unconnected The command mode of the remote commander is different from the one of the VCR The channels on the VCR cannot be changed e Make sure the CABLE BOX CONTROL option is set to OFF The tracking meter does not ap
