4. 11 01 010 8 Using a Phillips screwdriver remove the center console front mounting screw H Repeat procedure for the other side 9 Lift from the rear and remove the center console assembly 10 Locate the Weight Classification system wiring connector J which is positioned to the rear of the Airbag Control Unit NOTE This connector is identified as AA11 in the airbag system section of the ETM for the affected vehicles Page 5 of 16 11 Remove the backing strip K from the adhesive on the vinyl cover 12 Attach the vinyl cover onto the Weight Classfication System connector as shown in the photo Use your finger to evenly press down on the vinyl cover 13 Install all the removed components in reverse order of removal Page 6 of 16 ACN HYUNDAI Technical Service 2r e Campaign Bulletin Number 4401 010 CAMPAIGN 100 AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT ACU REPROGRAMMING VEHICLES AFFECTED 2007 2008 Elantra Vehicles produced from July 14 2006 through August 29 2007 GDS ACU SOFTWARE REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE Important Cautions for Reprogramming e Reprogramming by GDS can only be performed by using the USB cable between a laptop and the VCI wireless cannot be used for reprogramming Make sure the GDS laptop battery indicator at the bottom right of the screen indicates at least 25 battery charge remaining to be able to complete reprogramming if not charge the laptop or keep the AC adaptor

CS HYUNOG Technical Service Bullet CAMPAIGN u e In Number 11 01 010 Subject Date AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT REPROGRAMMING CAMPAIGN 099 amp CAMPAIGN 100 Model 2007 2009 ELANTRA CIRCULATE TO IMPORTANT DEALERS MUST PERFORM THESE CAMPAIGNS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR IMPORTANT WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA S WARRANTY VEHICLE INFORMATION SCREEN VIA WEBDCS TO IDENTIFY OPEN CAMPAIGNS DESCRIPTION This bulletin describes two campaign repair procedures Identify the open campaign s for the affected vehicle and conduct the appropriate campaign repairs accordingly CAMPAIGN 099 Campaign 099 provides the procedure to install a protective cover over the Weight Classification System WCS wiring connector to prevent contamination from liquid spills If the connector is contaminated it may result in airbag warning light illumination Vehicles Affected 2007 2009 Elantra Vehicles produced from July 14 2006 through November 1 2008 CAMPAIGN 100 The driver s Seat Track Position Sensor STPS detects the fore and aft position of the seat to allow the driver s airbag to deploy at the appropriate pressure In some vehicles an unstable STPS electric signal may prevent the Airbag Control Unit ACU from determining the position of the seat resulting in airbag warning light illumination Campaign 100 provi

7. connected while reprogramming Perform reprogramming with the ignition key in the ON position Turn off all lights do not leave headlight switch in auto mode and all accessories including heater air conditioner blower radio heated seat rear defroster etc to make certain the battery will not be discharged during reprogramming e Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle during reprogramming e Do not start the engine during reprogramming e Do not turn the ignition switch OFF during reprogramming Page 7 of 16 IMPORTANT Before conducting the update to the vehicle s ACU software verify the vehicle falls within the production date range as noted on page 7 of this bulletin and has an open recall 100 1 Connect the GDS VCI module to the vehicle s DLC connector and the USB cable between the VCI and GDS laptop s USB port ST 2 Turn on the vehicle ignition Make sure the green power LED is lit on the VCI if it is not lit press on the power button of the VCI Within a few seconds the top of the GDS screen should indicate VCI USB On in bright green 3 Make sure the GDS has the latest data by pressing the bottom right Internet Update button on the GDS screen You will get a confirmation on the GDS screen if it is already updated otherwise the Download Start button will be viewable and should be pressed to update the GDS NOTE You must have an internet connection to GDS to be able to receive a
