9. ld 2 Press the RANGE key to step through the available ranges until you select the range desired 3 Press and hold the RANGE key for 2 seconds to exit the manual ranging mode and return to mode Data Hold 1 Press the HOLD key to freeze the display the army indicator will appear 2 Press the HOLD key to return to normal operation Relative Mode The relative measurement feature allows the user to make measurements relative to a stored reference value A reference value can be stored and measurements can be made in comparison to that value The displayed value is the difference between the reference value and the measured value 1 2 3 Perform any measurement as described in the operating instructions Press the REL button to store the present reading and the indicator will appear on the display The display will now indicate the difference between the stored value and the measured value LCD Backlight model MT330 only 1 2 3 4 Press and hold the HOLD key for approx 2 seconds the indicator will appear and the backlight will be activated Press the HOLD key momentarily to turn off the icon Press and hold the HOLD key for approx 2 seconds to turn off the backlight The a e B9 icon will appear Press the HOLD key momentarily to turn off the a e B9 icon Maintenance cover or the battery fuse door Do not operate your meter until the battery fuse do
10. measure current 7 Touch the black test probe tip to the negative side of the circuit and touch the red test probe tip to the positive side of the circuit 8 Apply power to the circuit 9 Read the current in the display Resistance and Continuity Measurements 1 Set the function switch to the OHM position 2 Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative COM jack and the red test lead banana plug into the positive jack 3 For Continuity press the DC AC key until the symbol appears on the display 4 Touch the test probe tips across the circuit or part under test It is best to disconnect one side of the part under test so the rest of the circuit will not interfere with the resistance reading 5 For Resistance tests read the resistance on the display 6 For Continuity tests If the resistance is lt 60 ohms an audible tone sounds LCD also shows the actual resistance Capacitance Measurements 1 Set the function switch to the CAP position 2 Insert the black lead into the negative COM jack and the red test lead into the positive CAP jack 3 Touch the test leads to the capacitor to be tested and read the measured value Diode Test DA BIED Set the function switch to Pt position Press the DC AC key until the symbol appears on the display Insert the black lead into the negative COM jack and the red test lead into the positive jack Touch the test probe tips to the diode or semiconductor
11. or are in place and fastened securely Cleaning the Meter Wipe the case occasionally with a damp cloth DO NOT use chemicals cleaning solvents abrasives or detergents Replacing the Batteries 1 When the battery drops below the operating voltage the battery symbol will appear in the right hand side of the LCD display The battery should be replaced at this point 2 Remove power from the meter and disconnect the test leads from the meter Open the battery fuse door by loosening the two screws on the rear battery fuse cover using a Phillips head screwdriver Clip the battery into battery holder observing the correct polarity Place the battery into the battery fuse compartment Put the battery fuse door back in place Secure with the two screws Dispose of batteries safely e DUO m s Replacing the Fuses 1 Open the battery fuse door by loosening the two screws on the battery fuse door using a Phillips head screwdriver 2 Remove the old fuse from its holder by gently pulling it out 3 access the 20A fuse remove the third screw under the tilt stand remove the back cover and gently lift the printed circuit boards 4 Install the new fuse into the holder 5 Always use a fuse of the proper size and value 0 5A 250V fast blow for the 400mA range 20A 250V fast blow for the 20A range 6 Put the battery fuse door back in place Insert the screws and tighten securely PC Interface Installation BOME 5 Start
