1. Video card post screw holes Video card posts Microprocessor heatsink 10 11 12 13 14 15 Lightly press the video card down into the video card connectors on the SBC The video card posts should be flush with the video card post screw holes on the SBC Also the SBC video card posts should line up with the screw holes on the video card Before pressing down on the video card ensure the male video card connectors line up with the female video connectors on the SBC Fasten the metal slot cover to the SBC using the two larger screws provided Using two of the four remaining screws fasten the video card to the two video card posts on the SBC Gently turn the SBC over and place it on a flat surface The microprocessor heat sink should be facing down Note Failure to place the SBC on a flat surface may result in serious damage to the SBC While the SBC is out of the NAM II be careful not to slide or catch the front or back of the SBC this may cause the modules on the SBC to become damaged Locate the remaining video card post screw holes on the back of the SBC Using the remaining two screws fasten the SBC to the video card Installation and Maintenance Manual Norstar Applications Module II NAM II 92 Adding and removing a monitor keyboard and mouse CAUTION Do not apply downward pressure to the SBC while fastening the screws Pressure

8. 1 If you are not using an ATA connect the CO line to the Line teladapt jack on the internal modem 2 If you are using an ATA connect the teladapt cord from the ATA Phone teladapt jack to the Line teladapt jack on the internal modem 3 Close the cable trough door 4 Plug the power cord into the AC outlet and wait for the system to boot before attempting to test the modem Figure 42 Connecting to the ATA AV 24 VAC 16VA ATA Phone teladapt jack Internal modem teladapt jack To KSU port Norstar Applications Module II NAM Il Installation and Maintenance Manual Adding and replacing memory 1 1 Overview The NAM II is equipped with either 8 MB or 16 MB of EDO Random Access Memory RAM This memory is located in Single In line Memory Modules SIMMs on the SBC The first 8MB SIMM is located in memory slot 1 If the NAM II is equipped with 16 MB of RAM there will an additional 8 MB SIMM in memory slot 2 When the NAM Ilis mounted on a wall the SIMMs are on the upper left corner of the SBC For information about the location of the SIMM slots refer to Figure 44 on page 82 Adding memory You may want to increase the amount of RAM depending on the applications running on the NAM II You can expand the amount of RAM to e 16 MB with an extra 8 MB in SIMM slot 2 e 32 MB with 8 MB SIMMs in all four slots Note Before you begin installing additional
9. 86 Adding and replacing memory Norstar Applications Module II NAM Il Installation and Maintenance Manual Adding and removing a monitor 1 2 keyboard and mouse Overview A 14 inch color monitor a keyboard and a mouse can be added to the NAM II to allow the use of other Nortel approved software applications on the NAM II The monitor comes with a Super Video Graphic Array SVGA card Installing the SVGA video card This procedure is for installing an SVGA on a NAM II that does not have Norstar Voice Mail installed The SVGA video card provides high text and graphic resolution and can display up to 256 colors To install the video card 1 Shutdown the module For more information refer to Shutting down the NAM II on page 29 Remove the NAM II power cord from the AC outlet Ground yourself by attaching one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal surface Remove the NAM II front cover Refer to Removing the front cover on page 31 Unpack the video card from the shipping container and antistatic bag Inspect for damage Handle the board by its edges at all times Do not touch any card components Locate expansion bus slot 8 and remove its slot cover screw and metal slot cover Carefully hold the card along the top only and insert the card into the module by aligning it over the backplane connector Installation and Maintenance M anual Norstar Applications Module Il NAM II

Channels Hard disk drive The NAM II comes equipped with an IDE 3 5 inch hard disk with a minimum capacity of 1 2 GB The hard disk drive stores all software messages greetings and voice prompts Note To ensure your system programming is protected against a hardware failure you must perform frequent backups of the hard disk drive For more information about backing up your hard disk refer to Backing up the NAM II capabilities file on page 67 Floppy disk drive The floppy disk drive on the NAM II is a 3 5 in 1 44 MB drive This drive is used to load programs and prompts from floppy disks onto the hard disk It is also used for backup and restore procedures Power supply The power supply converts AC line voltage to DC It provides 5V DC and 12V DC to the SBC and disk drives The power supply is shipped with the default setting of 115 volts but this setting can be changed to 230 volts For more information about changing the default voltage setting refer to Changing the power supply voltage on page 98 Note The NAM II is not equipped with an ON OFF power switch This module is designed for continual use therefore we recommend that you do not use a switched power outlet Norstar Applications Module Il NAM Il Installation and Maintenance Manual Components of the NAM II 9 Ports External devices such as a laptop computer are attached to the NAM II through its ports The ports are located on the bottom of the NAM
