Installation In Aircraft This child seat is certified for use on aircraft Most airlines in the U S and Canada will allow you to use a child seat if it is labeled as an approved child restraint for airline use and fits properly on the plane Contact your airline about their policy prior to travelling e Use your child seat only on forward facing aircraft seats e Place the child seat next to a window to avoid blocking the aide e If the aircraft lap belt is too short ask the flight attendant for a belt extender Forward Facing Installation Install your child seat forward facing in an aircraft according to pages 13 14 Rear Facing Installation Install your child seat rear facing in an aircraft according to pages 17 18 NEVER ATTACH A FORWARD FACING TETHER TO A LOCATION THAT IS NOT RECOMMENDED BY YOUR VEHICLE MANUFAC TURER OR TO A LOCATION THAT YOU BELIEVE IS INCORRECT OR NOT STRONG ENOUGH IF THE TETHER ANCHOR COMES LOOSE IN A CRASH THE METAL HOOK CAN INJURE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS e Britax recommends that the tether be used at all times Using the tether will improve the stability of your child restraint and reduce the risk of injury e If your vehide does not currently have a tether anchor attachment refer to your vehide owners manual or contact your vehicle manufacturer for assistance e If a tether anchorage is not available you should NOT modify your vehicle without advice from your vehicle manufacturer Forward Faci

9. hide Safety Belts IMPORTANT Some vehides have no seating positions which are compatible with this child seat or any other child seat If in doubt con tact your vehicle manufacturer for assistance The following types of vehide seat belts are not compatible with this child seat X Front seat belts with top or bottom anchorage points in the door X Motor driven automatic seat belts X Three point belts that have separate retractors for the shoulder section and the lap section X Nor locking ELR two point seat belts The owner s manual for your vehide will have information on the types of seat belts in your vehide If you have belts of the above listed types select another seating position This child seat will work with rear seat three point seat belts with a sliding latch plate and with rear seat three point seat belts that are specifically marked as appropriate for child seats The middle rear seat of most vehicles has a lap belt which most often will work This child seat can fit securely in most vehicles using the existing seat belts However some types of vehicle designs prevent a secure fit of the child seat due to the postion of the seat belt lower anchorage points Vehicle Safety Use this simple guide to check your seat belts and determine the safest position for your child seat Use the gray shaded area on the sde of this page to determine the best position for the child seat Hold the page against
10. ng Rear Fadng K Lap Shoulder Belt Installation 1 Place the child seat rear facing and fully reclined on the vehide seat 2 Tighten hamess Fig A 3 Pull the vehide belt out then hold the lap and shoulder sections togeth er Keep the sections together as you pass the seat belt through the closest rear facing belt slot Fig B NOTE The seat belt can be rout ed over or under restraint s cover 4 Route belt behind under the buckle strap then through the second rear facing belt slot Fig B 5 Fasten the seat belt then verify that the seat belt is not twisted Fig C 6 Press child seat into vehicle seat while removing slack from the lap portion of the seat belt 7 Maintain pressure on child seat then tighten shoulder portion of seat belt Fig D 8 Position both sections of seat belt through the open lock off then close lock off arm Lock off is properly closed when a positive dick is heard Fig E IMPORTANT Never bend the plastic lock off arm up or down it will break off NOTE Although the child seat has two rear facing lod lt offs you will only need to use one Always use the lock off that is dosest to the seat belt buckle 9 Verify that the seat belt is tight and the child seat is secure Removal To remove the child seat unfasten the seat belt and reverse the above directions Rear Fading Lap Belt Installation 1 Place the child seat rear facing and fully redined on the
11. ng Versa Tether 1 Once your child seat is in a secure seat belted position facing for ward locate the tether and remove from pouch 2 Lift the adjuster tab on the tether strap out then pull to fully extend tether 3 Locate the tether anchor in your vehicle Use a tether anchor in location a or b in the illustration on page 21 IMPORTANT If in doubt about your tether anchorage point or if your vehicle is not equipped with a tether anchorage point check your vehi de owner s manual or contact your vehicle manufacturer for assis tance 4 Hook the tether to the tether anchor point then pull on the teth er belt to remove any slack 5 Verify that there is tension in the tether strap and that child seat is properly secured Releasing the Versa Tether To release the Versa Tether lift the adjuster tab on the tether strap then pull to loosen Unhook the tether from tether anchor point to release child seat Versa Tether Rear Facing Versa Tether 1 Once your child seat is in a secure seat belted position facing rear ward locate the tether and remove from pouch 2 Lift the adjuster tab on the tether strap out then pull to fully extend tether 3 Locate the hook on the strap The hook latch can be opened and dosed by pressing your thumb against the latch 4 Place the restraint in the selected vehicle seating position Follow the section Installation Rear Facing on pages 15 18 5 Locate an acceptable

16. the way through until strap is tight around the tether anchor 4 Attach the tether hook to the strap or d ring Checking Buckle Position WARNING The position of the vehicle seat belt buckle can affect the stability of your child seat In an accident an improperly positioned buckle could come loose and your child would be unprotected If the buckle lies near the position marked as wrong X when the vehicle belt is tight ened then try fitting your child seat in another seating position in your vehicle If it is not possible to achieve the correct position y for the buckle then another seating position MUST be used IMPORTANT Check that your child seat is secure before each trip This child seat can be used in either awake or deeping postion Pull the recline handle then slide the seat shell into the desired position Let go of the recline handle then verify that the child seat has locked into postion Sleeping Fastening the Buckle 1 Hold the buckle with one hand 2 Use your other hand to insert one tongue at a time into the buckle Proper connec tion is confirmed with a postive dick after inserting the second buckle tongue Releasing the Buckle 1 Brace the rear of the buckle with hand 2 Use thumb to press release button until is tongues are ejected from buckle 16 cick NOTE Periodically dean the buckle to ensure proper operation See section Cleaning the Buckle on page 33 Open the ch
