5. N Important Communication between the Palm handheld and the ADVANTECH equipment is done through an infrared light beam Therefore the position of the PDA in relation to the machine is critical for successful completion of the data transfer The infrared communication port on the PDA is usually located at the top of the device The receiver on the machine is located to the right of the last digit on the display panel See picture below RECEIVER 40 41 Data exchange between PDA amp Machine Aim the handheld much like you would aim a TV remote control Be sure to locate the infrared port on the device that you are using and understand the direction of its beam to ensure a successful data transmission Ensure that the distance between the PDA and the infrared receiver on the machine is less than 5 inches Strong light sources not excluding sunlight or close proximity of other infrared devices such as alarm systems may inhibit the transmission of data To remedy this situation simply use your hand to shield the receiver amp or the PDA port Proper positioning of this type PDA device for an upper stack dryer data transfer Proper positioning of the same type PDA device for a washer or single dryer data transfer Data exchange between PDA amp Machine To initialize a machine 4 Aim the PDA at the machine s infrared receiver 2 Initialize located on the Select a command screen
