3. 1 Press MEMORY The TALK indica tor flashes FLASH TALK gt REDIAL MEMORY CHANNEL a ABC DEF 1 02 C3 2 Enter the phone number and any tone and pause entries see Using Tone Services on a Pulse Line on Page 13 and Entering a Pause on Page 15 Note Each tone or pause entry uses one digit of memory 3 Press MEMORY then enter the memory location number 0 9 A single tone sounds to indicate that the number is stored Repeat Steps 2 4 for each num ber you want to store o ANS amp 43 1051 fm Page 15 Tuesday August 17 1999 1 08 PM Note If three quick beeps sound you have made an error and the number was not stored Start again from Step 2 For each stored number write the per son s or company s name next to the appropriate location number on the memory dialing card We recommend you use a pencil in case you want to change the number later Memory Dialing Card SIRO O SSE To erase a stored number simply store a new number in its place Entering a Pause In some telephone systems you must dial an access code 9 for example and wait for a second dial tone before you can dial an outside number You can store the access code with the phone number However you should also store a pause after the access code to allow the outside line time to connect To do so press REDIAL at the appro priate place to enter a 4 second pau

5. on the hand set before speaking FLASH i TALK REDIAL MEMORY CHANNEL To end acall place the handset on the base or press TALK Note If you press TALK to hang up and the phone does not disconnect place the handset on the base or press TALK again while holding the handset closer to the base CHANGING THE CHANNEL The ET 551 finds a clear channel for each call but if you notice interference during a call you can press CHANNEL to find a clearer channel FLASH Aly TALK SoS S REDIAL MEMORY CHANNEL The ET 551 changes to a different channel each time you press CHAN NEL Note If the handset is too far from the base the channel might not change Move closer to the base and try again USING REDIAL REDIAL lets you quickly dial the last number dialed When you hear the dial tone after pressing TALK simply press REDIAL i FLASH TALK REDIAL NIZ o Z5 A MEMORY CHANNEL Note The redial memory does not store a flash entry see Using Flash on Page 13 o V gt 4 gt ANS 43 1051 fm Page 13 Tuesday August 17 1999 1 08 PM USING FLASH FLASH performs the electronic equiva lent of a switchhook operation for spe cial services such as Call Waiting TALK Soo C REDIAL MEMORY CHANNEL For example if you have Call Waiting press FLASH to answer an incoming call without disconnecting the current call Pre
6. poorly during a call Fully extend the base s antenna and place it in a vertical position Check the charging contacts on the handset and base If they are dirty clean them with a pencil eraser Be sure the handset s battery pack is charged If the battery power is too low it does not have enough power to light the LOW BATT indicator If the base loses power while the handset is off of it the security access protection code might change Restore power to the base then place the handset back on the base The CHARGE in dicator lights when the code is reset The call is too noisy Change channels or hang up and redial the number If you still have problems disconnect the phone If other phones on the same line work properly the fault is in this phone or its installation If you cannot find the prob lem take your phone to your local RadioShack store for assistance 17 Vv VJ ki amp 43 1051 fm Page 18 Tuesday August 17 1999 1 08 PM CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your RadioShack ET 551 25 Channel Cordless Phone with 10 Number Memory is an example of superior design and craftsmanship The following suggestions will help you care for your cordless phone so you can enjoy it for years Keep the phone dry If it gets wet wipe it dry immediately Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits Handle the phone gently and carefully Dropping it can damage cir cu

22. ss FLASH again to return to the first call Note If you do not have any special phone services pressing FLASH might disconnect the current call USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Some special services such as bank by phone require tone signals If you have pulse service you can still use these special tone services by follow ing these steps 1 Be sure T P is set to P 2 Press TALK 3 When you hear the dial tone dial the service s main number 4 When you want to send tone sig nals press Any additional numbers you dial are sent as tone signals LOW BATT 5 After you complete the call return the handset to the base or press TALK The phone automatically resets to the pulse mode 13 V o ANS 43 1051 fm Page 14 Tuesday August 17 1999 1 08 PM PAGING To page the person who has the hand set or to locate the handset when the phone is notin use press PAGE on the base The handset beeps three times If you hold down PAGE for 2 seconds the handset beeps for 30 seconds to give you time to locate the handset o MEMORY DIALING You can store up to 16 digits in each of the ten memory locations then dial a stored number by pressing a one digit memory location number Storing a Number in Memory Note An error tone sounds and the phone exits the programming mode if you wait more than about 6 seconds between each key press or enter more than 16 digits
