1. Assembly requires two persons Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until you finish all assembly steps The underside of the walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant After shipping there may be some lubricant on top of the walking belt or on the shipping carton This is normal If there is lubricant on top of the walking belt wipe it off with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner To identify small parts see page 6 Make sure that the power cord is unplugged With the help of a second person tip the tread mill onto its right side Pull the Upright Wire 70 and the Base Ground Wire 92 through the indicated hole in the Base 80 Remove and discard the indicated screw A in the Base 80 Attach the Base Ground Wire 92 to the Base with a 8 x 1 2 Ground Screw 1 Press a Base Cap 77 into the Base 80 Make sure that the Grommet 67 is pressed into the square hole in the Base See the inset drawing Cut the plastic tie near the Upright Wire 70 Be careful not to dam age the Upright Wire Attach a Wheel 81 to the Base 80 with a 3 8 x 2 1 2 Bolt 2 and a 3 8 Nut 3 Do not over tighten the Nut the Wheel must turn freely Assembly requires the following tools the included hex keys one adjustable wrench one Phillips screwdriver scissors needlenose pliers To avoid damaging parts do n
2. remove the sheets of plastic from the metal contacts if nec essary In addi tion make sure that your hands are clean Contacts To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the metal contacts on the handrails for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected a heart symbol in the calorie display will flash each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds 7 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest setting The incline must be at the lowest set ting or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage position Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s stereo speakers you must connect your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player to the con sole through the MP3 jack To use the MP3 jack locate the included audio wire and plug it into the MP3 jack Then
3. a moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the numbered Quick Speed but tons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To se lect a speed setting that includes a decimal such as 3 5 mph press two numbered buttons in suc cession For example to select a speed setting of 3 5 mph press the 3 button and then immediately press the 5 button To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To re start the walking belt press the Start button or the Speed increase button Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase or decrease button or one of the numbered Quick Incline buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the treadmill will gradu ally adjust to the selected incline setting Follow your progress with the displays As you walk or run on the treadmill the display can show the following workout information The elapsed time The distance that you have walked or run The workout intensity bar The approximate number of calories you have burned The incline level of the treadmill The number of vertical feet you have climbed The speed of the walking belt Your heart rate see step 6 on page 18 The matrix The matrix offers several display tabs Press the increase and decrease buttons next to
4. is about 1 8 in 3 mm If necessary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Truss Head Screw 19 move the Reed Switch slightly and then re tighten the Screw Reattach the Motor Hood not shown with the five 8 x 3 4 Screws not shown and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading SYMPTOM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly a With the key in the console press one of the Incline buttons While the incline is changing remove the key After a few seconds reinsert the key The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the mini mum level This will recalibrate the incline system SYMPTOM The walking belt slows when walked on a Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14 24 b d If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill per formance may decrease and the walking belt may become damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the tread
5. more effec tive and enjoyable When the manual mode of the console is selected you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display instant exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor In addition the console offers twenty onboard work outs ten calorie workouts and ten distance workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an ef fective exercise session The console also features an iFit Live mode that en ables the treadmill to communicate with your wireless network through an optional iFit Live module With the iFit Live mode you can download personalized work outs create your own workouts track your workout results race against other runners and access many other features To purchase an iFit Live module at any time go to www iFit com or call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console s premium stereo sound system while you get in shape To turn on the power see page 16 To use the man ual mode see page 16 To use the stereo sound system see page 18 To use an onboard workout see page 19 To use an Fit Live workout see page 20 To use the information mode see page 21 IMPORTANT If there is a sheet of plastic on the con
6. the Enter button or press the Display button until the desired tab is shown The Incline tab will show a profile of the incline set tings of the workout A new segment will appear at the end of each minute 17 The Speed tab will show a profile of the speed set tings of the workout The My Trail tab will show a track that represents 1 4 mile 400 m As you exercise the flashing rectangle will show your progress The My Trail tab will also show the number of laps you complete The Calorie tab will show the approximate amount of calories you have burned The height of each segment represents the amount of calories burned during that segment Note When you select the Calorie tab the calorie display will show the ap proximate number of calories burned per hour As you exercise the workout intensity level bar will indicate the approximate intensity level of your exercise SE MENS lt lt S Press the Home button to return to the default menu see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 21 to set the default menu If necessary press the Home button again When a wireless iFit Live module is connected the wireless symbol at the top of the display will show the strength of your wireless signal Four arcs indicate full signal strength To reset the displays press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key 6 Measure your heart rate if desired Before using the heart rate moni tor
7. to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walk ing belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened EXERCISE GUIDELINES 44 WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 140 130 125 115 125 118 110 103 Y 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded
8. try again IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE CON NECTORS PROPERLY THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER Then remove the wire tie from the Upright Wire 11 Console Assembly Console Wire 11 Set the console assembly on the Left and Right Handrails 71 72 Make sure that no wires Console are pinched Insert the excess Upright Wire Assembly 70 into the Left Handrail Attach the console assembly to the brackets on the Handrails 71 72 with two 5 16 x 1 Screws 7 and two 5 16 Star Washers 8 Start both Screws and then tighten them 12 Attach the two Console Clamps 96 to the con sole assembly with four 8 x 3 4 Screws 6 Console SII See step 4 Tighten all six 3 8 x 4 Screws 4 13 Identify the Left and Right Trays 97 98 which are marked L and R Orient the Trays as 3 Console shown and attach each Tray with four 8 x 3 4 Assembly Screws Start all of the Screws before tight ening them Be careful not to overtighten the Screws 12 14 Raise the Frame 49 to the position shown Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed Orient the Storage Latch 51 so that the large barrel and the latch knob are oriented as shown Attach the lower en
9. 0 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill information and allows you to person alize console settings To select the information mode hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the console and then release the Stop button When the information mode is selected the following information will be shown The time display will show the total number of hours the treadmill has been used The distance display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved The lower section of the display will show the status of an Fit Live module If an Fit Live module is connected the display will show the words WIFI MODULE If a USB module is connected the display will show the words USB SD MODULE If no module is connected the display will show the words NO IFIT MODULE While the information mode is selected the matrix will display several optional screens Press the decrease button next to the Enter button to select each of the following screens 1 UNITS To change the unit of measurement press the Enter button To view distance in miles select ENGLISH To view distance in kilometers select METRIC DEMO The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store While the demo mode is turned on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch in

12. ar in the display To exit the information mode remove the key from the console HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill Then remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails Bend your legs and keep your back straight 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks in the storage position CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob locks To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in tem peratures above 85 F 30 C 22 HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position Moving the treadmill may require two people 1 Hold the frame and one of the handrails and place one foot against a wheel Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an unev

17. e setting are programmed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for con secutive segments During the workout the profiles on the speed and incline tabs will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a differ ent speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next segment the treadmill will automatically adjust to the new speed and or incline setting Current Segment 19 The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your metabolic rate In addition if you manually change the speed or incline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manu ally override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons however when the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will a
18. en surface Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Then pull the latch knob to the left and hold it IMPORTANT Do not turn the latch knob If necessary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your legs and keep your back straight TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following c Remove the key from the console and then the simple steps below Find the symptom that reinsert it applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual d Ifthe treadmill still will not run please see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The power does not turn on SYMPTOM The console displays remain lit when a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a you remove the key from the console surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page a The console features a display demo mode de 14 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that signed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a meets all of the specifications described on

21. is marked Left If there is a wire in the Left Handrail re move and discard it Hold the Left Handrail 71 near the Left Upright 75 Insert the wire tie on the Upright Wire 70 through the bottom and out of the end of the Left Handrail as shown Then pull the Upright Wire through the Left Handrail Attach the Left Handrail 71 to the Left Upright 75 with two 3 8 x 3 1 2 Screws 9 and two 3 8 Star Washers 5 Make sure not to pinch the Upright Wire 70 Start both Screws but do not tighten them yet 7 Attach the Right Handrail 72 to the Right Upright 76 with two 3 8 x 3 1 2 Screws 9 and two 3 8 Star Washers 5 Start both Screws but do not tighten them yet 8 Remove the four 1 4 x 1 Screws 10 from the 8 Console Frame 87 The Screws will be used in step 9 10 10 10 9 10 Insert the Console Frame 87 into the Handrails 71 72 Attach the Console Frame with the four 1 4 x 1 Screws 10 that you removed in step 8 Start all four Screws and then tighten them Be careful not to pinch the Upright Wire not shown Firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 3 1 2 Screws 9 With the help of a second person hold the con sole assembly near the Left Handrail 71 and the Right Handrail not shown Connect the Upright Wire 70 to the console wire See the inset drawing The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and

23. mill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform unless in structed to do so by an authorized service rep resentative Such substances may deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear If you suspect that the walking belt needs more lubri cant see the front cover of this manual If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller screw counterclock wise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered 25 If the walking belt slips when walked on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2
