1. Changing the line and spool 1 Disconnect the trimmer from the power supply 2 Turn the machine upside down so you have access to the cutting line in the trimming head 3 Whilst holding the trimming head 6 turn the spool 9 anti clockwise as indicated by the OFF arrow to unscrew it from the trimming head 6 4 The spool will then become loose Remove the spool and spring from the spindle 5 Cut two 3m equal lengths of 2mm line Thread the first line through the top hole above the spool divider Wind it in an anti clockwise direction as shown by the arrows on the base of the spool Then insert the other length of line in the bottom hole and wind it in anti clockwise around the spool 6 Leaving 15cm of line lock each end into the slots on opposite sides of the spool 7 Place the spring over the spindle Insert each of the cutting lines through the eyelets in the cutting head assembly Feed the line through the holes while lowering the spool 8 Once the spool is in place apply pressure on the spool compressing the spring Pull each end of the line sharply to unlock the line from the slots Ensure both lines have disengaged the slots before proceeding Continue to apply pressure to the spool and screw the spool 9 clockwise onto the spindle Tighten the spool securely 9 When operating for the first time after changing the spool of line ensure to test the assembly by r

4. is running at full speed This will activate the self adjustment of the cutting line to the correct length Note To feed out line when you bump the base of the trimmer the line trimmer must be operating close to full speed A spring loaded button on the spool holder is depressed when the trimmer is bumped and this releases line due to the inertial force of the spinning spool If too much line is fed out and it projects beyond the guard edge it is cut by the blade in the guard It is only necessary to replace line that is broken during use Do not bump to excess as it wastes line It takes a little practice and experience to judge when to bump Note Do not cut damp or wet grass Dry grass will give excellent results Note Always let the line trimmer rotate at top speed do not work in such a way as to overload the trimmer 4 Cut the grass by swinging the machine from right to left and proceed slowly keeping the trimmer inclined forwards at an angle of about 30 5 High grass should be cut in layers always beginning from the top Do not cut damp or wet grass Do not overload your machine 6 Avoid wearing the line out quickly by knocking against hard objects stones walls fences etc 7 Watch out for kickbacks in the event of impact with hard objects WARNING Never pass the machine over the extension cable while the machine is running Make sure it is always in a safe position behind your back

14. ting the handle over the shaft and placing the locking clamp nut included through the holes in the guard and tightening in the most comfortable position to the secondary handle locking knob 16 3 Ensure that you are on a flat surface and have secure footing 4 Check that the line touches or goes beyond the edge of the guard WARNING For your own safety when adjusting the length of the line avoid coming into contact with the line cutting blade 8 which is fixed to the guard It is extremely sharp Keep your hands well away from this area Switching on and off 1 Connect the plug to the power supply Starting 2 Depress the lock off button 13 and squeeze the trigger switch 3 Stopping 3 When you release the trigger the machine turns off and the lock off button re engages to prevent accidental operation WARNING The tool runs for approximately 5 seconds after it has been switched off Let the motor come to a complete standstill before setting the tool down Trimming 1 Make sure that the work area is free of rocks debris lines and other foreign objects 2 To start the line trimmer first push the lock off button 13 and then press the trigger switch 3 To switch off the trimmer simply release the starting switch Start the machine before approaching the grass to be cut 3 Short or worn line cuts less efficiently so to improve its operation tap the spool lightly on the ground while the trimmer
15. unning the line trimmer in a safe location The line may not be fully extended so you may need to bump the head at full speed to feed the line to the correct length Power cable restraint During the use of the line trimmer the extension cord will continually be pulled as you move from one area to another A power cable restraint 1 support has been provided on the housing of the line trimmer to assist in preventing the electrical connection between the extension cord and the line trimmer plug being forced apart Note The support is for the extension cord and not the cable from the line trimmer To fit the extension cord to the support make a loop in the extension cord and fit the loop into the curved recess at the back of the line trimmer Push the loop downwards so it fits securely into the round cut away section Maintenance and cleaning 1 Store the tool instruction manual and accessories in a secure dry place In this way you will always have the information ready to hand 2 Keep the tool s air vents unclogged and clean at all times 3 Remove dust and dirt regularly Cleaning is best done with a rag 4 All bearings and bushes are lubricated for life 5 If the cordset is damaged or worn it must be replaced by the manufacturer or service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard 6 Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts CAUTION Do not use cleaning agents to cl
