Setup from the vertical tab list Then select System from the row of tabs along the top of the page System Mode sets the unit to operate in Normal mode normal navigation Battery Saver mode or Simulator mode for practice ONLY Usage Mode sets the unit to Marine or Automotive mode System Information Speed Filter allows the unit to average speed readings Choose from Off Auto automatically con trols filtering or On allows you to enter a value in seconds Text Language allows you to select from various languages for the units on screen display 80 Road Routing tab To open the Road Routing tab press the MENU key twice to open the Main Menu Select Setup from the vertical tab list Then select Road Routing from the row of tabs along the top of the page Route Preference allows the unit to calculate a route for e Faster Time Time is used as the criterion for calculating your route Routes calculated with this setting are faster to drive but may be longer in distance Shorter Distance Distance is used as the criterion for calculating your route Routes calculated with this setting are shorter in distance but may take more time to drive e Off Road A direct line from your current physical location to your destination is displayed This is useful when you are travelling outside of detailed map coverage areas or where no roa

United States and the U S Coastal Confluence Zone From the perspective of a mariner the system is used for ocean and coastal navigation It can be used as a supplemental system for harbor and harbor approach navigation and it is used for inland navigation by recreational vehicles LORAN TD Feature The LORAN TD Time Delay feature eases the transition from using LORAN to using GPS The GPSMAP unit automatically converts GPS coordinates to LORAN TDs for those who have a collection of LORAN fixes for favorite fishing spots and other waypoints recorded as TDs You can display your position as a TD or enter waypoints as TDs The accuracy to be expected from this conversion is ap proximately thirty 30 meters When the unit is placed in the LORAN TD format mode it simulates the operation of a LORAN receiver Position coordinates may be displayed as TDs and all navigation func tions may be used as if the unit was actually receiving LORAN signals Using the LORAN TD Format When creating new waypoints using LORAN TD coordinates you must set the correct LORAN chain number and secondary stations in the Setup TD field before storing the waypoint After the waypoint is stored in unit memory it will always reference the LORAN chain number and secondary stations cur rently selected in the Setup TD field If you enter a different LORAN chain number change the secondary stations or offsets in the Setup TD field the active waypoint information will
