Editing Track Names You can also manually edit the Track Song names of the currently highlighted Title in the Music Guide Follow these steps to edit the track information for the current Music Title Highlight the Music Title you want to edit in the Music Guide Press the OPTIONS key on the remote control Select the EDIT DISC INFO Info menu item to display the Edit Disc Information screen Select the EDIT TRACKS button to display the Edit Tracks screen Using the remote control or wireless keyboard change the name of each track Press the SELECT button to advance to the next track Select the SAVE button to save your changes and return to the previous DIL Sn screen PAGE 57 Automatically Lookup Information for This Disc The Lookup This Disc button will initiate a disc lookup for only this disc FireBall will connect to the Gracenote Music Recognition Service to locate and download the disc information Follow these steps to lookup information for the current disc Highlight the Music Title you want to edit in the Music Guide Press the OPTIONS key on the remote control Select the EDIT DISC INFO menu item to display the Edit Disc Information screen Select the LOOKUP THIS DISC BUTTON The Get Music Info screen will be displayed as FireBall attempts to lookup the disc information from the Gracenote Music Recognition Service for you When the lookup is complete you will return to the Edit Dis

For example connecting only the analog audio outputs of the changer to the FireBall will not provide digital audio on the digital outputs of the FireBall VIDEO OUTPUTS FireBall has several video output formats and connectors including 2S Video 2 Composite Video 1 Component Video 480i interlaced standard definition Networks North America f reserved Escient Escient logo are trademarks Video Out All video outputs are active at the same time so you can use as many as you like without causing signal degradation The Component Video output will provide the best possible video quality for the FireBall User Interface but will require that your video system has an available component input One of the S Video outputs is typically used for the optional Escient ETP 1500 touch panel to provide the user interface directly on the touch panel The other S Video output can be used if the installation has an available S Video input or for a distributed multi room installation The two composite outputs are typically used for an a v distribution system such as the Xantech AV 61 or the Niles ZR 4630 8630 distribution systems PAGE 28 RS 232 CONNECTIONS External disc changers are controlled via two way serial protocols using RS 232 serial cables You should use COM ports 1 2 and 3 for each external disc changer COM port 4 is to be u

Mono S Link Cable LOADING DVD MOVIE DISCS INTO CHANGERS Insert DVDs into your changers following the changer manufacturer s instructions and close the changer door Quick Lookup will automatically start in a few seconds If the Quick Lookup process does not automatically start then manually start the Lookup using the steps described below The disc information that FireBall displays on your TV screen is NOT included on the original CDs that you recorded or CDs DVDs loaded into your changers The artist name album name and track list are provided by the Gracenote Music Recognition Service The album cover movie title movie info and movie cover art are provided by the Escient service This information is downloaded from the Escients servers to your FireBall using your Internet connection This process is referred to as Looking up Disc Information Loading your Movies Lorie up lo Automatically Getting Disc Information Once your changers are connected to FireBall and loaded with CDs DVDs all you have to do is close the changer door and in a few seconds FireBall will begin looking up the disc information from each disc in each changer Quick Lookup checks each previously empty slot in the changers to see if any new discs were added and then checks each previously occupied slot in the changer to see if any discs were removed One by one the Table of Contents is read from each CD DVD and compared to the lo

15. in any way All video and audio signals are switched and then passed through FireBall to your home theater system Because video and audio signals are switched you must use matching cable types between your changers FireBall and your home theater Note Surround Mode Settings is compatible with select Denon and Marantz A V receivers with RS 232 control Please contact Escient or your Escient dealer for more information about this feature PAGE 85 INSTALLING THE ETP TOUCH PANEL The optional Escient Touch Panel is an external 15 flat LCD color display that offers full control of a FireBall via it s integrated touch sensitive surface Follow these steps to connect the ETP 1500 to a FireBall Place the FireBall into Standby Connect the RS 232 serial cable to COM PORT 4 on the rear panel of your FireBall Connect the other end of the RS 232 serial cable to the bottom of the ETP 1500 Connect one end of an S Video cable to one of FireBall s two S Video outputs Connect the other end of the S Video cable to the S Video input on bottom the ETP 1500 Connect the ETP 1500 to an AC power source Press the power button on the front panel of the ETP 1500 The LED will turn amber Power on the FireBall the LED on the touch panel will turn green OANOaARWHD The ETP 1500 will automatically be detected on COM PORT 4 and the user interface will display the touch panel buttons around the perimeter of the screen ETP 1

18. the current Title Highlight the Movie Title you want to edit in the Movie Guide Press the OPTIONS key on the remote control Select the EDIT DISC menu item to display the Edit Disc Information screen Select the EDIT DESCRIPTION button to display the Edit Description screen Using the arrow keys and alpha numeric buttons edit the description Press the SELECT key on the remote control when you have edited your movie description Select the SAVE button to save your selection and return to the previous screen EDITING MUSIC INFORMATION FireBall has access to over 2 5 million CD titles but you may still encounter a CD that does not return a custom cover or the correct disc information You can edit the disc information for any Music Title using the Edit Disc and Edit Tracks screens Editing Disc Info Follow these steps to edit the disc information for the current Music Title Highlight the Music Title you want to edit in the Music Guide Press the OPTIONS key on the remote control Select the EDIT DISC INFO menu item to display the Edit Disc Information screen Using the remote control or wireless keyboard change the artist name album title label year of release or genre Select the SAVE button to save your changes and return to the previous screen Selecting the PREVIOUS or NEXT buttons will save any edits you have made to the current disc and display the information for the previous or next disc
19. there is a dial tone on the line Make sure you have a valid dialup account and password The username password and dialup access numbers should be obtained from your ISP The larger ISPs will have local phone numbers for most areas in the US Verify that the dialup account and password are valid by testing them ona PC connected to the same external modem This will tell you if the account settings and modem are properly configured The QuickStart Dialing Preferences screen allows you to set the preferences for your current location a Most calling methods these days will use tone or touch tone instead of pulse dialing b Enter a prefix if you have to dial 9 or some other number to access an outside line when using your phone system If your phone line has Call Waiting service select the prefix to disable it from the Disable Call Waiting spin control Typically this will be 70 in the US If you have voice mail service from your phone company that provides a beeping signal just before the dial tone is heard on your line change ignore dialtone to YES This will ignore the beeping signal which may prohibit some modems from dialing out when you have messages waiting 6 Once you have verified all of the Dialing Preferences you should test the dialup modem connection to the Escient servers From the Dialing Preferences Quick Start screen select the Test Connection button This will start the Dialup Mod

21. to access the FireBall web Fixed 800x600 Web interface Interface USING THE WEB USER INTERFACE Using the Web User Interface displayed in your Web Browser you can control almost every aspect of your FireBall The Web User Interface is setup very similarly to FireBall s own TV user interface allowing access to each source Music Movies Radio as well as all major features such as Setup Guide Player Options and Edit Screens Use your keyboard and mouse to navigate the web interface instead of the IR remote control Access to all of the major functions is provided by the buttons along the left and right side of the web interface These buttons duplicate those found on the remote control lt Resizable PDA Web story awor part nn Interface LINE LLLI PAGE 99 SERVERS A FireBall Server is a Fireball media management system that is capable of serving media to other FireBalls over a network The FireBall is a considered a server product CLIENTS A FireBall Client is a FireBall that can play media from a FireBall Server over a network Currently there are three different FireBall products that can play media from FireBall servers FireBall MP 150 FireBall DVDM 100 Client Server networking is limited to the same local subnet You can not stream over the Internet unless you have a VPN setup between the two FireBalls Only MP3 and FLAC audio files can be streamed to clients You can t stream CDs from the internal drive or from
22. to delete highlight the Track and press the SELECT key on the remote A checkmark appears to the right of each selected Track indicating that it will be deleted Press the SELECT key again to remove the checkmark Pressing the TOGGLE key on the remote when a Title is highlighted will toggle all or none of the Title s tracks for deletion When you have selected all of the Titles you want to delete in the group press the RECORD button on the remote control to permanently remove and delete the checked tracks You can not delete physical CDs from the Music Library You must remove the discs from your changers if you want the CDs to be removed from the Music Guide PAGE 64 DELETING PLAYLISTS You may delete entire Playlists from the Music Guide Follow these steps to permanently delete one or more Playlists from the Music Guide Press the MUSIC key to make sure you are in the Music source mode Press the OPTIONS key to display the Options Menu Select the DELETE PLAYLISTS menu item to display the Delete Playlists screen For each Playlist you want to delete highlight the Playlist and press the SELECT key on the remote A checkmark appears to the right of each selected Playlist indicating that it will be deleted Press the SELECT key again to remove the checkmark When you have selected all of the Playlists you want to delete select the Laid pim wd The DELETE button to permanently remove and delete th

66. ndard Ethernet cable from your Ethernet router or hub to the FireBall There are different grades or categories of twisted pair cabling Category 5 is the most reliable and widely compatible and is highly recommended It runs easily with 10Mbps networks and is required for 100Mbps networks You can buy Category 5 cabling that is pre made or you can cut amp crimp your own Category 5 cables can be purchased or crimped as either straight through or crossed A Category 5 cable has 8 thin color coded wires inside that run from one end of the cable to the other Only wires 1 2 3 and 6 are used by Ethernet networks for communication Although only four wires are used if the cable has 8 wires all the wires have to be connected in both jacks Fire Ball Straight through cables are used for connecting computers to a hub Crossed cables are used for connecting a hub to another hub there is an exception some hubs have a built in uplink port that is crossed internally which allows you to uplink hubs together with a straight cable instead In a straight through cable wires 1 2 3 and 6 at one end of the cable are also wires 1 2 3 and 6 at the other end In a crossed cable the order of the wires change from one end to the other wire 1 becomes 3 and 2 becomes 6 To figure out which wire is wire number 1 hold the cable so that the end of the plastic RJ 45 tip the part that goes into a wall jack first is facing away from you Flip
