The Remote Control allows RS232 422 serial mode communication with the projector This is used for software upgrade of the Rugged Remote Control or to perform a remote control of the projector instead of using the CTRL3 Two way hardwired remote Different baudrate baud settings 9600 19200 38400 57600 115200 image1 See Menu Setup for setting procedure To select the different serial modes use switch B image 1 RS232 422 remote control The connection needs the supplied male male SUBD9 adapter A image 2 to be placed between the Remote Control and the projector NOSE gt pin ass adapter A 1 78 2 3 a 8 2 e o 4 6 L 6 4 i di 5 5 1 gt 1 8 m1 GND GND image 2 20 Configuration Setup Software download The RS232 422 port is always enabled this makes software upgrading always possible For software download follow next procedure 1 Turn OFF the Remote Control with the main switch 2 Open the battery compartiment see procedure page 14 3 Put switch C image 2 located in the battery compartiment in the DOWNLOAD position right position to enable downloading via the RS232 port 4 Connect the R
6. batteries BAT ACT the power save mode is enabled if there is no key hit within 2 minutes following message is then displayed menu 2 NO UPDATE POWER SAVE MODE PRESS ANY KEY TO menu 2 The Remote Control is automatically switched off after being approximatively 10 minutes in the Power Save Mode Use the ON OFF switch to reset OFF ON the Remote Control 16 Installation Setup Changing the batteries The expected life of the batteries is about approximatively 1000 charge and discharge cycles When replacing the batteries all batteries should be replaced at the same time CAUTION Risk of explosion if the batteries are replaced by an incorrect type Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions To change the batteries follow next procedure ahWN 00 Y O Turn the remote off and remove all the cables Turn the locking screw counterclockwise to free the metallic cover Image 1 Open the metallic cover Image 2 Remove the 6 batteries Insert the new batteries correctly in the battery compartiment be sure to install the batteries in the proper polarity and not to short battery terminals together Insure that switch A Image 3 is in the CHARGE position left position Close the metallic cover Turn the locking screw clockwise to lock the metallic cover image 3 17 Configuration Setup Configuration Setup Remote Mode Performing Remot

T REMOVE COVER OR BACK NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE Safety Instructions Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions 1 When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed 2 If liquid has been spilled into the equipment 3 If the product has been exposed to rain or water 4 If the product does not operate normally when the operating instructions are followed Note Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions since improper adjustment of the other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal operation 5 If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged 6 If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance indicating a need for service Replacement parts When replacement parts are required be sure the service technician has used original BARCO replacement parts or authorized replacement parts which have the same characteristics as the original part Unauthorized substitutions may result in degraded perfor mance and reliability fire electric shock or other hazards Unauthorized substitutions may void warranty Safety check Upon completion of any service or repairs to this Interface ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product
11. a standard serial cable linking the COMM PORT of the projector to the COMM PORT of the Wireless Base The supplied voltage depends on the type of projector COMM PORT 15 Installation Setup Charging the batteries The batteries are trickle charged whenever the XLR connection with a powered projector is made or when the charger is connected Charging is required whenever the batteries are low the status ACT LOW of the batteries can be seen on the main menu menu 1 or in the diagnosis menu see Installation Settings remark The delivered batteries are not charged The batteries may only be used after being charged it takes about 30 hours to fully charge the batteries NO COMMUNICATION ADDR 1 BAT LOW PRESS lt ADJUST gt TO ENTE menu 1 There are two possibilities to charge the batteries To charge the batteries with the supplied charger follow next procedure 1 Use the supplied charger with the right plug according the local outlet see Power Connec tions to adapt the plug to connect the charger to the wall outlet 2 Plug the female power connector of the loader into the male connector at the right side of the remote control The batteries can also be charged via the XLR connection This is done whenever the projector is in the standby or ON status independently of the Remote Control s status ON or OFF Power Save Mode When working on

15. emote with your PC using a standard serial cable 5 Turn the Remote on main switch and perfom the download 6 Put switch C back in the Normal position and close the battery compartiment 7 Reset OFF ON with main switch the remote control image 2 21 Configuration Setup RF Mode In the RF Mode the Wireless Remote Control makes it possible to perform an RF communication with the projector through the Wireless base This is only possible with the Wireless Rugged Remote Control General Information page 8 How to connect The connection between the Wireless base and the projector uses a standard serial cable The Wireless Rugged Remote can communicate with one or more projectors this can be done in two ways One Remote communicates with different projectors each of them using a base image 1 The Remote communicates with different projectors connected in a loop through configuration this configurarion uses one base image 2 The RF link runs at a fixed baudrate of 57600 The supply of the base is done through its COMM PORT using a standard serial cable image 1 COMM PORT RS 232 422 22 Configuration Setup To perform an RF communication following parameters have to be set see page 29 RF address This is a selection of an RF channel for the wireless link Any number between 0 and 63 may be chosen In the case
