HPC Inc 3999 N 25th Avenue Schiller Park IL 60176 USA 032502 37INS 013 00 Installing and Starting Key Trail The Install Program is called SETUP What SETUP Does It creates the folders you specify otherwise it uses the default C Program Files HPCSoft KeyTrail32 It copies all necessary files It creates a shortcut in Start Programs HPCSoft It prepares the database for use Starting SETUP It is assumed that your PC is up and running Windows version 95 or newer 1 Insert the CD into the CD ROM drive most commonly D 2 Click on START and choose RUN 3 Type in the command box D setup and click OK or click on BROWSE and select your CD ROM drive D then click on SETUP EXE Click OK on the Run Command Box 4 When KeyTrail prompts you for a path drive letter amp folder name to load the program in you may enter your own or accept the default C Program Files HPCSoft KeyTrail32 5 If you have installed a previous version of KeyTrail and you want to save those files DO NOT overwrite them The default path C program files HPCSoft KeyTrail32 is different than the previous default path To convert files from a previous install of KeyTrail please see Converting Files from another version of KeyTrail 6 Follow the instructions on the screen 7 Restart Windows after completing the install process Starting KeyTrail 1 Click START or pr2. ess Ctrl Esc then locate the HPCSoft folder under Programs Click the KeyTrail icon 2 You can create a desktop shortcut by consulting Windows Help User ID and Password To run KeyTrail the first time use ADMIN as both the user ID and password From the KeyTrail System Selection screen you can click Security on the menu bar to issue user IDs passwords and security rights Converting files from another version of KeyTrail 1 If you have files in an older version of KeyTrail use the Backup and Restore function on the KeyTrail System Selection screen Start your older version of KeyTrail The default location is C KeyTrail32 You may have to use My Computer or Windows Explore to locate it 2 On the System Selection screen highlight each system to be converted and click FILE BACKUP RESTORE SYSTEM You will be prompted for a folder to store the backup file in Note that location and click SAVE 3 Repeat this for each system you want converted 4 Start your new version of KeyTrail copyright 2001 On the System Selection screen click FILE RESTORE IMPORT SYSTEM Go to the folder containing the backup files s The name of your file s will consist of the system code followed by the letters MSV for example 9999 msv 5 Highlight your file and click Open 6 Repeat these steps for each system you want converted Before Developing Your Own System Before developing your own system please take time to
