3. ally and the battery packs are charged again in standby mode 10 Safety Information BATTERY DESCRIPTION 1 Contact pins 2 Centring tabs 3 Rating plate Battery description 11 FITTING AND REMOVING FITTING Follow the following steps very carefully 1 Attach the first battery pack to the side of the point 2 Ensure proper fitting of centering tabs and contact pins 2 Press the battery pack down onto the point 2 in the direction of the arrow 2 until it locks into place 3 Fit the second battery pack to the other side of the device NOTICE The point 2 will only work without mains power when both battery packs are fitted 12 Fitting and removing REMOVING Follow the following steps very carefully 1 Pullthe first powerpackpoint 2 battery pack on the side of the point 2 outwards until you can feel resis tance 2 Remove the battery downwards from the point 2 in the direction of the arrow Remove the second powerpackpoint 2 battery pack from the other side of the device Fitting and removing 13 USING THE BATTERIES Do not expose the battery packs to any unnecessary vibrations or percussions Only charge the battery packs at ambi ent temperatures of between 10 C 35 The charging procedure is based on a chemical reaction Too low a temperature adversely affects the reaction whereas too high a tem perature prevents full charging Store batteries in a cool dry place Ex

8. ture is during charging 10 C to 35 in operation 5 to 40 C when being stored 20 C to 50 C The lower the ambient temperature is the longer it will take to charge the batteries New batteries only reach their full capacity after three to four charging discharging cycles If you do not know the charge level ofthe battery packs charge them completely Safety Information 9 INTENDED USE The powerpackpoint 2 consists of 2 lithium ion battery packs and is intended as an independent power sup ply for use with the point 2 respiratory therapy device The point 2 is a respiratory therapy device for treating obstructive sleep apnea syndrome OSAS in patients weighing more than 30 kg Range of application for powerpackpoint 2 1 Travel mode In travel mode the point 2 uses the battery packs as its sole power source The battery capacity allows the device to be used for approx 8 hours at 8 hPa 12 bpm 500 ml tidal volume After this time the point 2 must be connected to the mains power supply to charge the battery packs see page 15 2 Power failure back up The power failure back up guarantees reliable operation without loss of treatment in areas where there are frequent power failures If the power supply fails the point 2 swit ches to battery mode automatically without any break in treatment When the power supply is restored the point switches back to mains power automatic
