1. EMERSON The outlet box must be securely anchored and capable of withstanding a load of at least 50 pounds If your fan is to replace an existing ceiling light fixture turn electricity off at the main fuse box at this time and remove the existing light fixture 4 WARNING To avoid fire or shock follow all wiring instructions carefully Any electrical work not described in these instructions should be done or approved by a licensed electrician Please call Emerson technical support at 1 800 654 3545 if you have any questions about installation and operation of this ceiling fan ETL Model No CF965 3 Ceiling Fan Assembly 3 1 Disconnect electrical power to the branch circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box before attempting to install the ceiling fan mounting plate on the outlet box 3 2 Remove the shipping spacers and the spacer attachment screws from the motor before installation of blade assemblies Figure 1 Discard the spacers and spacer screws 3 3 Mount blade flanges to fan blades using three 10 32 x 1 4 slotted phillips washer head screws supplied Figure 2 Repeat this procedure for other four fan blades and blade flanges 4 WARNING Turning off wall switch is not sufficient To avoid possible electrical shock be sure electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring All wiring must be in accordance with National and Local codes and the ceiling fan must be properly2. 2 knobs supplied Figure 23 a i sii LOCKWASHERS 2 Tighten the knurled knobs securely until the ceiling cover fits snugly against the ceiling and the hole in the ceiling KNURLED KNOBS 2 cover is clear of the downrod A WARNING Figures To avoid possible fire or shock make sure that the electrical wires are completely inside the outlet box and not pinched between the ceiling cover and the ceiling emersonfans com Please contact 1 800 654 3545 for further assistance 15 ETL Model No CF965 6 Installation of Downlight 6 1 Remove the pre installed wire nut from the fan motor assembly white wire Carefully straighten the white wire strands Pair the light kit assembly white wire with the motor assembly white wire and install the previously removed wire nut Figure 24 6 2 Remove the pre installed wire nut from the fan motor assembly black wire Carefully straighten the black wire strands Pair the light kit assembly black wire with the motor assembly black wire and install the previously removed wire nut Figure 24 4 WARNING Check to see that all connections are tight and that no bare wire is visible at the wire connectors 6 3 Remove one of the three 8 32 x 1 1 4 slotted phillips head screws from the light kit cover Figure 25 Retain the screw for future installation Loosen the other two screws several turns 6 4 Carefully tuck all the wires under the light kit assembly prior to installin

SETSCREW LOOSENED GREEN GROUND Sx WIRE 4 5 DOWNROD Figure 6 TWO 80 MOTOR LEADS UNTWISTED 4 5 DOWNROD Figure 7 emersonfans com Please contact 1 800 654 3545 for further assistance ETL Model No CF965 3 Ceiling Fan Assembly Continued 3 11 Loosen the two setscrews in the motor coupling Place the 4 5 downrod into the motor coupling aligning the clevis pin holes in the downrod with the holes in the motor coupling Figure 8 The clevis pin must go through the holes in the motor coupling and the holes in the downrod Be sure to push the straight leg of the hairpin clip through CLEVIS I the hole near the end of the clevis pin until the curved PIN Ae portion of the hairpin clip snaps around the clevis pin C The hairpin clip must be properly installed to prevent the lt gt clevis pin from working loose MOTOR Pull on the downrod to make sure the clevis pin is properly COUPLING SES 2 installed 4 WARNING It is critical that the clevis pin in the motor coupling is properly installed Failure to verify that the pin is properly lt installed could result in the fan falling Figure 8 3 12 While pulling up on the 4 5 downrod retighten the two 4 5 DOWNROD setscrews previously loosened in the motor coupling to secure the downrod into place Figure 9 NOTE The setscrews must be properly installed as described above or fan wobble could result RETIGHTEN A W

11. the SW605 wall control s ON OFF switch to ON position Within one minute of flipping the switch to ON push and hold the FAN OFF button for 3 to 5 seconds to set the code in the receiver The ceiling fan lights if installed will blink to indicate the SW605 wall control code has been paired with the receiver IMPORTANT Immediately after successful pairing the ceiling fan will automatically begin high speed conditioning of the motor During conditioning the electronic motor control software is calculating speeds for the 2nd through 5th speed settings based on the blades that were installed on the fan EMERSON 24 10 2 The fan will run for approximately 2 minutes in the upward direction then reverse direction to down flow and run an additional 2 minutes When conditioning is complete the fan will come to complete stop IMPORTANT Do not interrupt the conditioning until the fan comes to a complete stop in approximately 5 minutes All functions of the control will be rejected during conditioning 10 3 High speed conditioning is now complete 10 4 lf programming is unsuccessful retry the above instructions after cycling the SW605 wall control ON OFF switch to restart the 1 minute programming time period 10 5 If still unsuccessful shut off the electricity at the fuse box or breaker panel and change the SW605 wall control frequency page 16 After changing the frequency settings repeat instructions

ARNING SETSCREWS It is critical that the setscrews are securely tightened Failure to verify that the setscrews are properly installed could result in the fan falling 3 13 f f 4 5 DOWNROD Make sure the grommet is properly installed in the a COUPLING coupling cover then slide the coupling cover on the COVER downrod until it rests on the motor housing Figure 10 etree Be sure the motor coupler cover is oriented correctly Figure 10 EMERSON 8 ETL Model No CF965 3 Ceiling Fan Assembly Continued 3 14 Place the ceiling cover over the downrod Be sure the ceiling cover is oriented correctly Figure 11 3 15 Route the two 80 motor leads through the hanger ball Reinstall the hanger ball Figure 12 on the downrod as follows Position the hanger ball pin through the two holes in the downrod and align the ball so the pin is captured in the groove in the top of the hanger ball Pull the hanger ball up tight against the pin and securely tighten the setscrew in the hanger ball NOTE A loose setscrew could create fan wobble WARNING It is critical that the pin in the hanger ball is properly installed and the setscrew securely tightened Failure to verify that the pin and setscrew are properly installed could result in the fan falling 3 16 The fan comes with black and white leads that are 80 inches long Before installing the fan measure up approximately 6 to 9 inches above top of hange

31. ngage the two loosened screws in the two key hole slots Replace the 8 32 x 1 1 4 slotted phillips head screw removed previously and tighten all three screws to secure the light kit cover to the lower housing adapter plate Figure 4 S LOWER HOUSING NOTE Make sure wires are not pinched between light ti PLATE kit cover and the lower housing adapter plate Spare 8 32 x 1 1 4 slotted phillips head screw is provided in parts bag if needed EMERSON 6 ETL Model No CF965 3 Ceiling Fan Assembly Continued 3 8 Carefully turn the partially assembled ceiling fan over and place it on the styrofoam for final preparation Figure 5 NOTE Be extra careful not to bend the ceiling fan blades while turning the fan over onto the styrofoam NOTE If using a longer accessory downrod discard the supplied 4 5 downrod and install the longer downrod sold separately using the following instructions 3 9 Remove the hanger ball by loosening the setscrew in the hanger ball until the ball falls freely down the downrod Figure 6 Remove the pin from the downrod then remove the hanger ball Retain the pin and hanger ball for reinstallation in Step 3 15 NOTE Do not loosen the screw holding the green ground wire 3 10 Separate untwist and unkink the two 80 motor leads Route the 80 black and white motor leads through the downrod Figure 7 CEILING FAN partially assembled HANGER BALL
32. nly Do not attempt to disconnect any wires not already connected to existing controls 9 11 Before installing the SW605 wall control place the SW605 wall control in OFF mode by pushing ON OFF switch to the OFF position 9 12 Install a SW605 wall control in the wall box containing the hot wire first Connect the black wire of the SW605 wall control to the hot wire Securely connect the wires with wire connectors supplied 9 13 Connect the other black wire of the SW605 wall control to both remaining traveler wires in the wall box and secure with wire connector supplied amp EMERSON 22 ETL Model No CF965 9 Wall Control Installation Continued 3 WAY WIRING DIAGRAM NEW CONSTRUCTION NOTE Retrofit 3 way installations are likely to include two traveler wires between the two wall boxes In new construction only one traveler wire Is required See Figure 35 4 WARNING Check to see that all connections are tight and that no bare wires are visible at the wire connectors 9 14 Screw the SW605 wall control into wall box using the supplied screws Leave the SW605 wall control in OFF mode until fan installation is completed 9 15 The SW605 wall control is supplied with a white ivory and almond color switch covers Choose the finish that best suits your needs and snap the cover onto the SW605 wall control Figure 27 9 16 Next install the other SW605 wall control

36. t be set in one of 32 possible code combinations Figure 31 The five levers numbered 1 2 3 4 and 5 on the switches are factory set in the ON up position Change the switch settings as follows NOTE Do not duplicate the code of an existing control of an installed ceiling fan within 100 feet 8 3 Slide the five switch levers in the SW605 wall control to your choice of ON up or down positions Use a ball point pen or small screwdriver and slide the levers firmly up or down 8 4 The sixth switch marked ON and is for dimming control of lights Set switch to ON to allow for dimming of the lights Set switch to for no dimming of the lights such as for fluorescent bulbs and non dimming CFLs 8 5 Preset Memory Feature Your Emerson ceiling fan light control is equipped with a preset memory feature When the electricity supply to the fan is switched OFF the control will remember the light intensity and fan speed When the switch is turned back ON the light and fan will resume operation as they were prior to the switch being turned OFF Code switches in the transmitter may be set in 32 different positions If your fan and light turn on and off without using your control you may be getting interference from other remote units such as garage door openers car alarms or security systems To remedy this situations simply change the code switches in your transmitter per the instructions of Section 10 SW605 WALL CONTROL
