Nikon Ey Addenda to the D4S User s Manual Your DAS is equipped with the latest firmware version C 1 20 which offers the following features not described in the Users Manual Time N 132 133 Shooting no longer ends automatically after 30 minutes when Time is se lected for shutter speed To close the shutter and end shooting press the shutter release button all the way down Custom Setting d3 Max Continuous Release A 327 The maximum number of shots is ignored when shutter speeds of 4 s or Slower are selected in mode 4 or M Custom Setting e3 Optional Flash A 332 The D4S now supports optional SB 500 flash units Custom Setting e3 Op tional flash offers a Commander mode option when an SB 500 is attached u Commander Mode Use a camera mounted SB 500 as a master flash controlling one or more remote optional flash units in up to two groups A and B via Advanced Wire less Lighting Optional flash Commander mode Selecting Commander mode displays the menu shown at right Press lt q or B to highlight the fol lowing options and amp or W to change Compose the shot and arrange the flash units as shown in the SB 500 manual x Group A Group B Channel Option Description Optional Choose a flash mode for the SB 500 mounted on the camera accessory flash shoe the master flash TIL i TTL mode Choose flash compensation from values between 3 0 and 3 0 EV in increments of EV M Choose the f2. lash level The master flash does not fire although remote flash units do The master flash must be on so that it can emit monitor pre flashes Choose a flash mode for all flash units in group A i TTL mode Choose flash compensation from values between 3 0 and 3 0 EV in increments of EV Auto aperture available only with compatible flash units Choose flash AA compensation from values between 3 0 and 3 0 EV in increments of BEV M Choose the flash level The flash units in this group do not fire Choose a flash mode for all flash units in group B The options available are Group A TTL Group B the same as those listed for Group A above Channel Choose from channels 1 4 All flash units in both groups must be set to the same channel Flash Compensation The flash compensation value selected with the 4 button and sub command dial is added to the flash compensation values selected for the master flash Optional flash group A and group B in the Commander mode menu A icon is dis played in the control panel and viewfinder when a flash compensation value other than 0 is selected for Optional flash gt TTL The icon flashes when the master flash is in mode M 74 Commander Mode Position the sensor windows on the remote flash units to pick up the light from the master flash particular care is required if the camera is not mounted on a tripod Be sure that direct light or strong ref
