ERICSSON Z TEMS DriveTester CDMA 5 0 2 Release Note About this release Release date 2008 09 05 Corrected functions in release 5 0 2 Phone number and ESN not displayed for various detected devices Improvements made to TEMS DriveTester application however some devices lack support for retrieving this information so it cannot always be shown Garmin GPS18 repeatedly loses connection GPS replaced by GlobalSat BU 353 which does not have this problem Graph in Pilot Pollution view has wrong scale Auto Start function see TEMS DriveTester 5 0 User s Manual section 6 1 1 2 This function applied to automatic power on of connected devices when the TEMS DriveTester application starts up not to launching the application itself on PC bootup as assumed in the defect However this behavior has now been changed so that if the Auto Start On option is set then TEMS DriveTester is automatically launched after the PC has booted up Sector ID information element truncated in main view EV DO data call A shortened version of the sector ID is now shown 24 bits out of the full 128 Walsh code column empty in Set amp Finger view What Walsh codes are assigned to individual active set members cannot be ascertained from phone reports The Walsh code columns have therefore been removed from the Set amp Finger view Walsh codes are defined per physical channel and are presented in this fashion in the 1x C
4. ages were dropped and not delivered through the data link Automatic scan data is dropped when the scanner is scanning faster than the data can be delivered through the data link causing the pipeline to overfill The PCTel SeeGull DX scanner requires its built in GPS to find satellites before it can perform pilot scanning This is a PN timing issue It may therefore take a while after you have started the scanner until it starts reporting data If you forget to connect the GPS antenna or the antenna is out of GPS coverage pilot scanning will not work at all with the DX scanner LX scanners in contrast remember the GPS data they last used so they can do a pilot scan without the GPS having found any satellites but the PN offset may then be wrong The Scanner Setup view is not aware of what protocols are supported by the connected scanner except that the PCTel SeeGull LX Basic and DX models handle only IS 95 This means for example that it is possible to select IS 856 for a scanner without EV DO capability If you do this the Scanner Setup view will take a long while to close and the TEMS DriveTester application will appear unresponsive during this time Similarly if you have an EV DO scanner connected exit TEMS DriveTester replace the scanner with a non EV DO scanner and restart TEMS DriveTester then the application will spend some time attempting to start an EV DO scan not responding to user input In both cases TEMS DriveTester will
5. and reinsert them to fix this problem Only user added equipment can be removed by tapping the Remove button To remove an autodetected device unplug the device Power Stop If problems arise with shutdown make sure that firewalls and antivirus software are turned off as they might interfere with the Power Stop software provided by Amrel Main View The Others field in the Call Statistics section counts up at call attempt and counts down again if the call is successful or if a block drop or access timeout occurs If none of these things happens the outcome of the call is undefined and the Others field does not count down Script Setup View Before running a command sequence make sure that the numbering of MS DC channels as displayed in Equipment Info agrees with the assignment in the command sequence That is make sure that each command is given to the intended device Navigation View The phone and ESN numbers may be missing This is because some devices do not respond correctly to the AT commands used to query the devices Polluter Sound Alarm The sound alarm for the Polluter event is missing Logfiles Logfiles cannot be recorded directly in MDM format However you can convert TEMS DriveTester logfiles to MDM format using the supplied Converter tool General Any antivirus software installed on the TEMS DriveTester computer needs to be disabled This is especially important for data service test
6. ing Firewalls and other security products may prevent the TEMS DriveTester from running two or more data sessions at the same time Standby Hibernate mode should be disabled in the PC when running TEMS DriveTester Notall devices can be autodetected and identified correctly Reasons for this include the fact that some devices do not report a unique identity Devices that are not autodetected must be enabled manually This option always exists as a fallback if the automatic detection fails Some GPS units may be erroneously identified as a MS Serial Ballpoint Perform the following steps in Windows XP to prevent this 1 With Administrator privileges on the PC choose Start gt Run gt regedit 2 Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE gt System gt Current Control Set gt Services gt sermouse 3 Locate the entry Start and double click on it 4 Change the value Data from 3 to 4 This will prevent Windows XP from identifying the GPS device as a mouse Note however that leaving the setting Data 4 will prevent you from identifying new mouse devices until you change the value back to 3 During logfile recording as well as during logfile replay temporary files are created by the application to enable the user to browse the history of the logfile These files can become very large 3 4 times the logfile size the exact size depending on the number of devices connected to the application at recording time The temporary files are
7. mode whether they engage in voice or data testing should be kept short This is necessary for performance reasons Qualcomm Chipset Based Terminals Some Qualcomm chipset based commercial terminals may not have test reporting activated The device may then be impossible to connect and or only deliver low level reports Please contact the terminal vendor Ericsson is not authorized to change this behavior Sierra Wireless data cards cannot be autodetected they must be manually added in the application The Qualcomm QTP 6800 CDMA EV DO phone is incorrectly recognized as a Qualcomm TM6275 SGH Z105 SGH Z500 SGH ZX10 a UMTS phone Scanner Related General If you want to connect a scanner while TEMS DriveTester is running you need to tap the Refresh button to make TEMS DriveTester detect the scanner Occasionally it may happen that a scanner connected to TEMS DriveTester does not stop scanning when the application terminates If this happens unplug and reinsert the scanner power cable before starting TEMS DriveTester again RSSI scanning is limited to 255 channels PCTel SeeGull LX In the event of an error report from the hardware during a measurement all further measurements are suspended until the power to the scanner is manually recycled There is no recovery from errors reported by hardware The PCTel scanners may sometimes report many scan drop messages The scanner uses this message to tell the host how many scan data mess
8. named according to the format temsn and created in the Windows temp directory default c path tmp where the path is defined by the environment variable TMP the TMP variable can be modified from the Control Panel System Properties gt Advanced gt Environment Variables Make sure there is plenty of space on the disk where the temp directory resides The temporary files are removed when you exit the application however if the application terminates abnormally this might not happen The files must then be removed manually When you save a command sequence to an XML file any user names and passwords e g for FTP or HTTP servers given in commands are saved with the file encrypted Note that another user who runs your command sequence will be accessing the server using the same user name and password When running multiple command sequences at the same time you need to be aware of potential device usage conflicts For example assigning Dial to the MS and Hang Up to the DC device of the same phone may cause unwanted behavior Interpolation of GPS positions does not work with the PCTel SeeGull LX scanner GPS Phone Related General Some phones and data cards cannot be automatically detected by the application Such devices need to be connected manually See the TEMS DriveTester 5 0 User s Manual section 4 2 When two phones data cards are connected to TEMS DriveTester continuous periods where both devices are in dedicated

10. r When executing the Start Recording command in a command sequence the logfile will be written to the directory specified in the Logfile Directory field Automatic FTP transfer of such logfiles works only if the storage directory is identical with the one specified for manual logfile recording under General Setup If the command sequence saves logfiles to a different directory they will not be automatically transferred About EV DO View Forward Link Traffic Distribution The forward link traffic distribution bar chart is not updated correctly only control signaling appears in the chart About EV DO View Reverse Link These fields data rates do not update correctly Set amp Finger View Walsh Code Walsh codes for candidate and neighbor set members are not updated correctly General Setup View Auto Start On Off applies only to 1x phones not to EV DO terminals Note also that this option has nothing to do with whether the application should start and stop along with the OS TEMS DriveTester can be configured to launch automatically on Windows logon by dragging the application shortcut to Start gt Programs gt Startup The Power Stop device must start before TEMS DriveTester in order to work correctly Equipment Info View On rare occasions it may happen that the USB devices are detected prior to the HASP dongle which will cause the devices to be tagged No License on the Equipment Info screen Unplug the devices
