3. bed Position the head bed on the EZ LIFT Rescue System where it fits the patient best and push the arrow clips into the board Fig 1 The EZ LIFT Rescue System Head Bed is intended to live on the board so you won t have to install it at the accident or trauma scene Always remember to replace the head bed with a new EZ LIFT Rescue System Head Bed after each use When you are finished with the head bed simply pull the clips out and dispose of the clips and the head bed Head Straps Head and chin straps are used as an aid to secure the patients head and neck Use protocols and techniques established by your local medical control to completely immobilize and prevent movement of the spinal column After placing the patient onto the EZ LIFT Rescue System make sure the patients head is centered in the pre installed head bed Proper placement is critical to ensure that the head is centered and maintained a neutral position Fig 2 Remove the protective backing from the head strap adhere to the patient s forehead or helmet Anchor the ends of the Head Straps to the EZ LIFT Rescue System as illustrated in Fig 2 Supplemental restraint may be provided by the additional chin strap P _ S S S l IMPORTANT l l l Important Neither EZ LIFT Rescue Systems nor its agents may be held l responsible for the use or misuse of this product l l 14 I y 45 m RESCUE SY

5. protocols e Each EZ LIFT Rescue System model has slots for hand holds patient restraints and head immobilizer straps Use the restraint style s and configurations provided or selected by your service and required by local protocols WARNING An unattended patient can be injured Stay with the patient at all times An unrestrained patient can fall off the EZ LIFT Rescue System and be injured Use restraints to secure the patient to the EZ LIFT Rescue System Using the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Follow local EMS stabilization guidelines and procedures before placing the patient onto the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Apply any appropriate cervical or extrication collars needed for head or back support e Follow local EMS procedures for applying the EZ LIFT Systems just as any other backboard e Secure the patient to the EZ LIFT Rescue System with the supplied restraints NOTE You can use a wide variety of patient immobilization strapping systems with the EZ LIFT Rescue System A set of semi disposable patient immobilization straps are provided with each system e Confirm that the restraints are properly configured and are securely fastened e The EZ LIFT Rescue System handles can be used in either extended or fixed position e To use the handles in a fixed position as a traditional backboard grip the ENTIRE handle assembly including the handle and board grip fig 1 e To use the handle in the extended position grip the h
6. repair the EZ LIFT Rescue System except to replace l cause unpredictable performance and will void the warranty l l L l Disinfecting the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Wipe or spray all surfaces of the EZ LIFT Rescue System with disinfectant Follow the manufacturer s directions e EZ LIFT recommends inspecting your EZ LIFT Rescue System for obvious damage as you disinfect it Cleaning the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Clean all surfaces of the EZ LIFT Rescue System with warm water and a mild detergent If necessary use a stiff nylon bristle brush NOT a wire brush e Rinse the EZ LIFT Rescue System with warm water pulling out the extendable handle to ensure the handle and webbing are clean e Dry the EZ LIFT Rescue System with a towel or allow it to air dry Inspecting the EZ LIFT Rescue System Always check the following e Is the board free of cracks crevices and punctures e Do the handles extend and retract freely with no interference e Does the handle fit properly in the end of the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Does the webbing show any signs of wear If the inspection shows damage or wear to any part of the EZ LIFT Rescue System or any components remove it from service and store it in a secure area where it cannot be ac cessed for use Webbing used on the extendable handles is replaceable For all replace ment parts please contact EZ LIFT Rescue Systems WARNING Improper maintenance can cause inju

8. use of the product 10 Users Manual August 2012 EZ LIFT Rescue Systems Inc ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Patient Immobilization Straps EZ LIFT Rescue Systems provides a full set of accessories for your use including a patient immobilization strapping system I IMPORTANT l l l Important Read all instructions thoroughly before using the EZ LIFT l Rescue System and Patient Immobilization Straps l L le l The EZ LIFT Rescue System and Patient Immobilization Straps should be used only by qualified and properly trained personnel All persons using this strap should practice its application and be thoroughly familiar with all medical protocols and aspects of its use before using These instructions are provided as a guide only Use protocols and tech niques established by your local medical control Description Intended Use EZ LIFT Rescue System and Patient Immobilization Straps are constructed by combining nylon polypropylene or vinyl coated polyester webbing with miscellaneous buckles and end styles to form a two or three piece strap EZ LIFT Rescue System Patient Immobiliza tion straps are intended to be used by qualified and properly trained personnel to help secure a patient s body to an EZ LIFT Rescue System stretcher cot or backboard WARNING An unrestrained patient can fall off the EZ LIFT Rescue System and be injured Use restraints to secure the patient to the EZ LIFT Rescue System

11. ariety of configurations by giving FIRE EMS personnel to address a wide variety of lift situations EZ LIFT Rescue System Specifications e Handles on both ends of the EZ LIFT Rescue System can be operated in either the extended or retracted position e Oversize hand holds are featured on both ends of the board e Edges are angled for log rolling e Retractable handles use polyester seat belt webbing rated at 1 700 Ibs for each strap or 6 800 lbs per board to extend the point of lift from the ground to 15 knee level to ensure proper lifting position at or above the knees e The board weighs less than 22 Ibs and is optimized for low profile storage in Fire and EMS vehicles e Recommended maximum load for a two man carry is 400 Ibs 4 or more lifters are required to lift any patients that exceed 400 pounds in weight The side hand holds should be utilized in these lifts e At 74 x 18 x 2 75 thick the EZ LIFT Rescue System is sized to store in the same space as a standard backboard allowing Fire EMS to simply replace the problem board with the EZ LIFT back saving solution EZ LIFT recommends two or three more EZ Lift Rescue System boards stored in the ambulance or fire truck compartment e Material is 100 X Ray translucent throughout the patient bed compatible with all imaging equipment except Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI e Ergonomically designed for patient comfort stability allows for un weighting at typica
12. l pressure points e The EZ LIFT Rescue System supports many accessory options including a snap in head bed a strapping system for patient immobilization wheels for patient transport over rough terrain footrest SingleTrac Rescue System and accessories and additional lifting straps zZ RESCUE SYSTEMS USING THE EZ LIFT RESCUE SYSTEM Before Placing the EZ LIFT Rescue System in Service e Require that all personnel who will work with the EZ LIFT Rescue System read this manual e Inspect the EZ LIFT Rescue System and confirm it has been received in good working order see Inspecting the EZ LIFT Rescue System page 10 e Your EZ LIFT Rescue System should arrive with the patient handling straps and head bed in place Verify that they are attached to the board and operate correctly General Guidelines for Use e Using the EZ LIFT Rescue System requires a minimum of two trained operators Additional help may be needed for heavy patients see Lifting Heavy Patients page 8 e Follow local emergency patient handling procedures and protocols when using the EZ LIFT Rescue System e Stay with the patient at all times e Always use the patient restraints supplied WARNING DO NOT let go of the handles when they are in use The unintentional retraction of the handles can cause injury Restraints and Head Bed e Always use patient restraints Use a head immobilizer and cervical collar as required by your local
