Should you want to use the XLR connectors for unbalanced signals then a bridge must be soldered between the cold pin and pin 1 pin 2 is generally hot so pin 1 must be connected to pin 3 Of course you can also simply use the PLI 02 as a line isolator between two mains powered devices to prevent ground loop hum CAUTION All Audio transformers are quite sensitive to magnetic fields caused by mains transformers for example Before you permanently install the PLI O2 somewhere make sure the location is suitable by temporarily installing the device GLOSSARY A galvanic isolation means that there is no electrically conducting connection between the two points This is the case with a transformer the signal is transmitted between input and output by varying magnetic fields In digital electronics you can employ optocouplers in which case the signals are transmitted by light impulses You can differentiate Hum caused by ground loops from other low frequency interferences simply by con necting the mass of the two devices e g metallic parts of the chassis to provoke the system to hum The reason for ground loops is that ground potentials are not always exactly the same Due to different cable lengths and other factors a slight displacement in the ground potential can take place So if you connect two devices with different ground potentials to each other a current will flow between them over the shielding of the audio cable As a result a

10. len entsorgt werden PLI 02 LINE ISOLATION BOX 2 KANAL ANWENDUNGSBEREICH Die Palmer PLI 02 ist eine zweikanalige Trenn bertrager Box fur Line Signale die sich zur Symme trierung von Mischpultausgangen Effektgeraten oder den Eingangen von Endstufen eignet Als Ein gang dient eine Neutrik Combibuchse der Klinkenstecker asymmetrischer Eingang oder XLR Stecker symmetrischer Eingang aufnimmt Wenn sie mit XLR Verbindern asymmetrisch betrieben werden soll muss eine Br cke im Stecker vom kalten Pin zu Pin 1 gel tet werden blicherweise ist Pin 2 hei also muss Pin 1 mit Pin 3 gebr ckt werden Nat rlich kann die PLI 02 aber auch nur als Trenn bertrager zwischen zwei netzbetriebenen Ger ten zur Vermeidung von Erdschleifen eingesetzt werden ACHTUNG Alle Audio bertrager reagieren empfindlich auf magnetische Streufelder z B von Netztransformato ren Bevor Sie die PLI 02 irgendwo fest montieren sollten Sie durch probeweise Montage berpr fen ob der vorgesehene Platz auch geeignet ist GLOSSAR Unter einer galvanischen Trennung versteht man dass keine elektrisch leitende Verbindung zwischen zwei Punkten besteht Dies ist bei einem Transformator der Fall die Signal bertragung vom Eingang zum Ausgang erfolgt nur durch wechselnde magnetische Felder In der Digitaltechnik kann man Optokoppler einsetzen die Signale werden durch Lichtimpulse bermit telt Erdschleifenbrummen l sst sich von anderen tieffrequen
