BACKUP The clock memory backup allows your alarm and clock time settings to be stored for up to a day when there is a power interruption e g mains failure The com plete clock radio and display illumination will be switched off As soon as the mains supply returns the display will indicate the correct time 1 Remove the battery door to insert a 9 volt 6F22 type battery not included for backup 2 Replace the battery door NOTE If no backup battery is installed or the power interruption is prolonged you will need to set the clock and alarm times again Batteries contain chemical substances so should be disposed of properly For users in the U K please follow the instructions on the reverse of this sheet The type plate is located on the bottom of the set ILLUMINATION BRIGHTNESS Adjust the BRIGHTNESS switch to HI or LO HI to increase the brightness LO to select low illumination IMPORTANT 1 During SLEEP activation if you attempt to cancel SLEEP by pressing RADIO ON OFF the radio cannot be switched off 2 To switch off press RADIO ON OFF and REPEAT ALARM SLEEP OFF a ternate ly and repeatedly CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE You can listen to the sound of the connected external device through your AJ3231 s speakers 1 Adjust the BAND AM MW FM AUX control to select AUX 2 Connect the AUX IN cable of the set to an AUDIO OUT or headphone jack on an external device such as CD player or VCR
