MORY This cordless phone can store 20 telephone numbers that you can dial by pressing Mem and the two digit memory location Storing Memory Numbers 1 Make sure the phone is on but not in use 2 Press MEM 3 Enter the telephone number you want to store up to 16 digits 4 Press MEM 5 Enter the two digit memory location 01 to 20 The hand set beeps twice to indicate the number has been stored For example to store 555 1234 in memory location 09 Press MEM 5 5 5 1 2 3 4 MEM 0 9 Dialing Memory Numbers 1 Press PHONE 2 Press MEM 3 Press the two digit memory location 01 to 20 where the number is stored For example to dial the number stored in location 09 press PHONE MEM 0 9 OPERATIN This cordless telephone operates at a power range allowed by the Federal Communications Commission FCC In fact this phone operates in a range that is approximately twice that of a 46 49 MHz cordless phone Even so the handset and base can commu nicate over only a certain distance which can vary with the locations of the base and handset the weather and the construc tion of your home or office For best performance keep the base antenna upright If the phone is out of range of the base you will hear short beeps every 16 seconds in standby mode If you are out of range the NOTE You may wish to write memory dial numbers on the directory card on the base Storing Num

5. bers Just Dialed Whenever you make a telephone call you can store the number you dialed in memory Press REDIAL instead of entering the tele phone number in Step 3 when Storing Memory Numbers Replacing a Stored Number You can replace a stored number by storing a new number in its place Storing a Pause in a Memory Number When storing a number in memory press REDIAL where you want a dialing pause Pressing REDIAL more than once inserts a longer pause For example to store 9 PAUSE 555 1234 in memory location 03 Press MEM 9 REDIAL 5 5 5 D 2 3 4 MEM 0 3 G RANGE LOW BATT light continues to flash and you are unable to make a call If you try to place a call while you re out of range the phone will sound an error beep If you move out of range during a phone conversation you will hear short beeps every four seconds To improve reception move closer to the base If you move out of range while on a call the phone will be left off the hook To hang up properly walk back into range periodically pressing PHONE until the PHONE light goes off IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY If you have difficulty operating this phone try the suggestions below If you still have trouble call 1 800 722 9125 Phone Does Not Work At All e Make sure the POWER ON OFF switch is set to ON e Make sure the power cord is plugged into the base and an electrical outlet e Make sure the telephon
6. directions for wall mounting on Existing Wall Plate Use either the long or short line cord depending on how far you are from the phone jack Belt Clip If you wish you can attach the belt clip to the cordless handset using the illustration below ay BATTERIES Charging the Handset Battery Pack The battery pack needs charging when e The phone beeps periodically e The LOW BATT light on the handset flashes e The phone does not respond when you press PHONE and no lights go on Place the handset face down in the base so the CHARGING light goes on The battery pack will be fully charged in 14 hours The handset can be ON or OFF while the battery pack is charging To increase the life of the battery pack allow the battery to discharge fully before charging A fully charged battery maintains standby power for up to 7 days and up to 4 hours of continuous talk time when the handset is on and not in the base If it s more convenient for you you can leave the handset in the base all the time It is impossible to overcharge the batteries If you get a low battery indicator even after 14 hours of charging the battery should be replaced CAUTION To reduce the risk of fire or damage to A persons or damage to the telephone read and follow these instructions carefully e Use only replacement battery 3094 e Do not dispose of the battery in a fire The cell might explode Check with local codes for special disposal instruction

8. inging options Your selected setting affects both the handset and the base 1 Make sure the phone power is set to ON but the phone is not in use OPERATION 2 Press FLASH then press a number button from 1 to 4 3 The handset gives a sample of the ringing option you have selected Handset Receiver Volume Control To adjust listening volume repeatedly press VOLUME a or VOLUME Y on the handset during a call Speaker Volume Control For intercom calls adjust the speaker volume by pressing VOLUME a on the base to increase volume or VOLUME to decrease Flash Press FLASH to activate custom calling services such as Call Waiting or 3 Way Calling You may have to press other buttons before or after FLASH as explained in custom calling instructions provided by your local telephone service company Temporary Tone NOTE If you have touch tone service you do not need to use the Temporary Tone feature If you have dial pulse rotary service this feature allows you to enter codes or tones needed to operate answering machines or use electronic banking services calling cards and other special ser vices however some services may actually require a touch tone line To be sure ask the company that provides the special service 1 Dial the call then press Any buttons pressed after this send touch tone signals Keep base antenna upright IN USE light goes on when line is in use INTCM light goes on when b
9. ket Step 2 Reverse the bracket and re install it Step 4 LINE jack on the back of the base Plug the round con nector on the power cord into the POWER A jack on the back of the base Reverse the bracket and re install it e Turn the wall mounting bracket so the ribbed tabs are facing the front of the unit e Snap the bracket into the guides to lock it in place Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to the wall jack plug and plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet Mount the base on the wall plate Align the holes in the wall mounting bracket with the hooks on the wall plate and slide the base down until it locks in place Follow Steps 4 to 9 in Table Desk Installation Wall Installation Ms Existing Wall Plate Choose a spot near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack This phone requires a modular wall jack and a standard electrical outlet 110V AC Remove the bracket see Step 2 above and use it to mark the position of the two screws that you will use e It s best to mount the base on wall studs e Hold the bracket up to the wall with the thicker end facing the floor and mark the wall through the screw holes in the bracket e Screw two one inch screws into the spots you marked Connect the telephone line cord to the base Step 3 Align the base with the hooks or screws and slide down into place Step 7 leaving 3 16 extending from the wall 3 Follow the
10. ne cord is connected firmly to the base and the telephone wall jack Make sure the power cord is plugged into an outlet not controlled by a wall switch e You might be too far from the base Move closer e You might have too many extension phones on your telephone line to allow all of them to ring Try unplugging some of the other phones You Hear Other Calls Disconnect the base from the telephone wall jack and plug in a corded telephone If you still hear other calls the problem is prob ably in your wiring or local service Call your local telephone service company Telephone Misdials e It might take a few seconds for your handset to find a good connection to the phone system e If you have dial pulse rotary service make sure the Dial Mode switch is set to PULSE e Ifyou have touch tone service and you hear strange clicks while you are dialing you ll need to set the Dial Mode switch to TONE Noise in the Handset and Buttons Don t Work The base unit and handset might not be set to the same security code Place the handset in the base for at least 5 seconds to reset the security code iil BATT Light is On or Flashing Place the handset in the base make sure the CHARGING light goes on and charge the handset battery pack for at lease 14 hours e If the LOW BATT light is flashing quickly you are out of range of the base Move closer
