4. on first re move the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walk ing belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened EXERCISE GUIDELINES AWARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerob
5. the key from the console HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill Then remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow below CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails Bend your legs and keep your back straight 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks in the storage position CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob locks To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in tem peratures above 85 F 30 C 22 HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill fold it as described at the left CAUTION Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position Moving the treadmill may require two people 1 Hold the frame and one of the handrails and place one foot against a wheel Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels and carefully move it to the desired location CAUTION Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back do not pull on the frame and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface Place one foot against a wheel and careful
6. the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the numbered 1 Step Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To select a speed setting that includes a decimal such as 3 5 mph press two numbered buttons in succession For example to select a speed setting of 3 5 mph press the 3 button and then immedi ately press the 5 button To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To re start the walking belt press the Start button or the Speed increase button Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase or decrease button or one of the numbered 1 Step Incline buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the treadmill will gradu ally adjust to the selected incline setting Follow your progress with the displays As you walk or run on the treadmill the display can show the following workout information The elapsed time The distance that you have walked or run The workout intensity bar The approximate number of calories you have burned The incline level of the treadmill The number of vertical feet you have climbed The speed of the walking belt Your heart rate see step 6 on page 18 The matrix The matrix offers several display tabs Press the increase and decrease buttons next to the Enter
7. user s movement may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is in tended only as an exercise aid in determining heart rate trends in general 20 21 22 23 24 Never leave the treadmill unattended while it is running Always remove the key unplug the power cord and press the power switch into the off position when the treadmill is not in use See the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 7 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 22 You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill When folding or moving the treadmill make sure that the storage latch is holding the frame securely in the storage position Never insert any object into any opening on the treadmill Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the treadmill regularly 25 26 27 DANGER Always unplug the power cord immediately after use before clean ing the treadmill and before performing the maintenance and adjustment procedures described in this manual Never remove the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorized service representative Servic ing other than the procedures in this manual should be performed by an authorized ser vice representative only This treadmill is intended for home use only Do not use this

TANT To satisfy exposure compliance requirements the antenna and transmitter in the iFit Live module must be at least 8 in 20 cm from all persons and must not be near or connected to any other antenna or transmitter Select a user If more than one user is registered you can switch users in the iFit Live main screen Press the in crease and decrease buttons next to the Enter but ton to select a user Select an iFit Live workout To select an iFit Live workout press one of the iFit Live buttons Before some workouts will download you must add them to your schedule on www iFit com Press the iFit Live button to download the next workout in your schedule Press the My Trainer button the My Maps button the World Tour but ton or the Event Training button to download the next workout of that type in your schedule Press the Compete button to compete in a race that you have previously scheduled For more information about the iFit Live workouts please see www iFit com When you select an iFit Live workout the display will show the duration of the workout the distance you will walk or run and the approximate number of calories you will burn The display may also show the name of the workout If you select a competition workout the display will count down to the begin ning of the race Note Each iFit Live button can also run two demo workouts To use the demo workouts remove the iFit Live module from the console

Upright Wire Assembly requires the following tools the included hex keys one adjustable wrench one Phillips screwdriver scissors needlenose pliers To avoid damaging parts do not use power tools 2 Identify the Left Upright 75 which is marked Left Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base 80 See the inset drawing Tie the wire tie in the Left Upright 75 securely around the end of the Upright Wire 70 Then insert the Upright Wire into the lower end of the Left Upright as you pull the other end of the wire tie through the Left Upright With the help of a second person hold the Left Upright 75 against the Base 80 Be care ful not to pinch the wires Partially tighten three 3 8 x 4 Screws 4 with three 3 8 Star Washers 5 into the Left Upright and the Base do not fully tighten the Screws yet Attach the Right Upright not shown in the same way Note There are no wires on the right side 4 5 Identify the Left and Right Base Covers 73 74 which are marked L and R Slide the Left and Right Base Covers onto the Left and Right Uprights 75 76 as shown Identify the Left Handrail 71 which is marked Left If there is a wire in the Left Handrail re move and discard it Hold the Left Handrail 71 near the Left Upright 75 Insert the wire tie on the Upright Wire 70 through the bottom and out of the end of the Left Handra

16. astic To prevent damage to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time the tread mill is used observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if necessary see page 25 Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find out which unit of measurement is selected or to change the unit of mea surement see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 21 For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to miles 15 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before turning on the power If you do not do this you may damage the console displays or other electrical components Plug in the power cord see page 14 Next locate the Ss power switch on the tread mill frame near the power Reset cord Make sure that the switch is in the reset position IN IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the displays light as soon as you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays remain lit see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 21 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the tread Ke mill Find the cli

19. ets of plastic from the metal contacts if nec essary In addi tion make sure that your hands are clean Contacts To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and hold the metal contacts on the handrails for approximately ten seconds avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected a heart symbol in the calorie display will flash each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate reading continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds 7 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button and adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest setting The incline must be at the lowest set ting or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage position Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical components may wear prematurely HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s stereo speakers you must connect your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player to the con sole through the MP3 jack Plug one end of your audio wire into the audio jack on the console Plug the other end into a jack on y
20. gment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be programmed for con secutive segments During the workout the profiles on the speed and incline tabs will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash If a differ ent speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next segment the treadmill will automatically adjust to the new speed and or incline setting Current Segment 19 The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on your metabolic rate In addition if you manually change the speed or incline of the treadmill during the workout the number of calories you burn will be affected If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manu ally override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons however when the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will auto matically adjust to the speed a
21. her it is functioning properly Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor could result in damage to the control system of the treadmill and serious injury to users Plug in the Power Cord The treadmill must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock The treadmill power cord has a plug witha grounding pin see drawing 1 on this page A DANGER Improper connection of the power cord increases the risk of elec tric shock Do not modify the plug if it will not fit an outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician If you are unsure whether the treadmill is properly grounded contact a qualified electrician Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances The outlet must be on a 14 nominal 120 volt circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps To avoid overloading the circuit do not plug other electrical devices except for low power devices such as cell phone chargers into the surge suppressor or into an outlet on the same circuit IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compat ible with GFCl equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCl equipped outlets Grounded Outlet Grounding Pin A temporary adapter may be used to connec
22. ic exercise 165 155 145 145 138 130 125 120 115 140 130 125 115 Y 125 118 110 103 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 26 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic exercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minu

29. our MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Make sure that the audio wire is fully inserted Next press the Play button on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Adjust the vol ume on your personal audio player or press the vol ume increase and decrease buttons on the console If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat sur face instead of on the console 18 HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16 Select an onboard workout To select an onboard workout press either the Calorie button or the Distance button repeatedly When you select an onboard workout the display will show the duration the distance the name the maximum speed setting and the maximum incline setting of the workout In addition a profile of the speed settings of the workout will appear in the ma trix If you select a calorie workout the approximate number of calories you will burn will appear in the name of the workout Start the workout Press the Start button or the Speed increase button to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each workout is divided into segments One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for each se

31. roperly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is properly tightened Idler Roller Screws Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high performance lubricant IMPORTANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform unless in structed to do so by an authorized service rep resentative Such substances may deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear If you suspect that the walking belt needs more lubri cant see the front cover of this manual If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left idler roller screw clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left idler roller screw counterclock wise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered 25 If the walking belt slips when walked
