1. General e Case 22085 On Linux platforms only the file filter would freeze when selecting a file if the optional timeouts capability was being used This was due to a conflict between the thread managing timeouts and one deep in the Qt file filter resulting in a lockup of the process This has been fixed by changing the internal timeouts logic so that a separate thread is no longer required to manage it thus removing the conflict The operation of timeouts is not affected e Case 13808 The e0 field on EOS_LINEAR_POLYNOMIAL can require definition with 9 to 10 significant digits of precision to give acceptable results However PRIMER currently stores all EOS data in single precision 32 bit floats giving between 7 and 8 decimal digits of precision so the accuracy of this data field can be compromised when it is read into PRIMER and then output again even if the card is not edited Since this is not an isolated case in EOS data PRIMER has been modified so that all EOS floating point variables are now stored internally as 64 bit doubles giving at least 15 decimal digits of precision If standard small keyword output format is used then these variables are written in 10 column wide fields so external precision is limited to typically 9 significant figures if a decimal point is required since it has to go through the bottleneck of the keyword output format If large wide output format is used only support
2. If the original model has rigid data compression this is now carried through into D3PLOTs cut down PTF files e Case 21418 If the PTF cut down window was open and the Blank menu was open in the docked area clicking on Select Parts would incorrectly display the selection menu from the Blank menu This has been fixed in V11 Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 95 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 Views e Case 20933 If you had two windows M1 in W1 but M1 M2 in W2 then exporting the view from W1 to all other windows using the 0 shortcut appeared to work However as soon as you did any dynamic viewing in W2 it jumped back to its original view This was because the internal export of viewing data from W1 to W2 was only being applied properly to the first model in that window with the 2nd and subsequent ones getting only a partial update This became apparent as soon as they were redrawn Fixed by making the view update apply correctly to all models in a window Write e Case 20601 In the WRITE menu the Current Vector and Velocity Vector components did not output any data for airbag particles This has been fixed e Case 20262 When using WRITE to list data nothing was reported for the 2D max min principal stresses and strains for shells This is now fixed XY Plot e Case 20152 If a model had solid elements with 8 integration points and NINTSLD was set to 8 on the DATA
3. e Cases 17288 18860 and 19814 Two enhancements have been made to object menu selection 1 The existing Filter by string logic has been extended so that it considers the complete text string in a menu row Previously it only considered the item title or description and omitted the Mnn TYPEIII prefix Now that the whole menu string is considered the wildcard capability of this filter can be used to select a range by label as well as name 2 The Keyin capability where explicit labels can be typed in has been extended to support wildcard syntax in the numeric data Two wildcard characters are permitted matches a single number matches any number of characters For example P3 will select parts 30 to 39 P10 will select parts with any label starting 10 M p10 will select part 10 in all models M P5 will select parts with labels starting 5 in models 1 to 9 Keyin selection is now also subject to whatever filters are currently in force previously it ignored this e Case 16261 See cases 17309 17308 and 17106 Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 140 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 e Case 15428 Object menus in PRIMER have historically auto expanded to show content than is wider than their default size but this expansion is limited to 90 of the width of the box which contains them They can now be undocked from this box by clicking on the lt l
4. will turn on the timeline and make clicking in a graph move the timeline Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 105 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 If the QuickPick mode is then changed to something else the timeline remains on but clicking in the graph then activates the normal QuickPick function and doesn t move the timeline This means it is now possible to use most QuickPick functions while the timeline is on If QuickPick is set to Timeline and the timeline is turned off then QuickPick is reset to the mode that was active before Timeline was selected Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 106 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 2 4 REPORTER 2 4 1 Bugs Fixed in 11 1 Capture e Case 22552 For a D3PLOT object extra command file commands may be lost during an Update capture This has been corrected e Case 22227 If a D3PLOT object with multiple captures was updated again in D3PLOT to delete or replace captures REPORTER could produce errors when generating or change the order of the captured images This has been fixed Command files e Case 22147 D3PLOT objects using a command file instead of capturing did not work in version 11 0 Now fixed Manual e Case 21989 Opening the HTML manual did not work on Linux This has been fixed Output e Case 22117 When saving old style T HIS objects i e using a command
5. User defined e Case 19427 When User defined data components are imported from externally generated ASCII files solid and shell tensor data are expected to be in the global coordinates system This present a problem for users whose data originates from other FE codes notably Nastran which output shell results in the element local system since the conversion of a tensor from element local to global systems is not a trivial operation Therefore the following optional keywords have been added to the ASCII file user input GLOBAL This is the default and need not be specified but is included for completeness LOCAL_DYNA This implies that the external data is in the local element system as understood by LS DYNA LOCAL_NASTRAN_3D This implies that the external data is in the local element system as understood by NASTRAN and all 6 tensor terms will be supplied LOCAL_NASTRAN_2D Is the same as LOCAL_NASTRAN_3D but assumes that shell data will be provided and only the 2D in plane tensor terms XX YY and XY will be provided If these are defined the relevant local to global transformation will be applied when the data are read so that the data stored inside D3PLOT are in the correct global system The reason for the separate DYNA and NASTRAN local systems is that the two codes have subtly different definitions of the element local system for shells and brick hexas and extremely different definitions for degenerate wedge and tetra
6. You were using drag mechanism rather than explicit angular motion Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 10 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 Your model was large and complex and or your computer was slow Predictive picking was active It has been fixed e Case 22373 When a stretch definition was created in a Dummy this was processed correctly during explicit rotation positioning but not when the dummy was dragged In addition if a Dummy was used as a child definition of a mechanism e g a seat any stretch definitions in that child dummy would be ignored during positioning This was due to an internal failure to tell the mechanism process about stretch definitions in a dummy and has now been fixed in both stand alone dummy and dummy slaved to mechanism positioning e Case 22025 When you create dummy mechanism points connections and children they do not have explicit labels but are assigned internal labels based on their internal sort order and these appear in menus and crucially are used in the JS to access these items When deleted this leaves a gap in the numbering which is not closed so that there can be a mis match between internal order and ostensible label In this situation copying such a definition to a new model or writing it out and reading it in again will close the label gap In other words label treatment is inconsistent This has
7. of the operating system which if set to something that is not standard can cause errors The locale is the language and syntax setting used by the computer and generally it affects things like the symbol used for currency pound dollar etc but in some languages it can affect the parsing of numbers For example the German locale de_DE replaces a decimal point with a comma and this can cause errors when reading floating point numbers Problems may also arise with special characters such as amp used to define parameters The problem can be solved by setting the computer s locale to an international or English language setting but this is not a friendly thing to require a user to do so the following has been added A check for a locale that may cause problems is now made when the software starts If this detects a potential problem it prints a warning message explaining what the problem is and how to fix it A preference oasys locale has been added which allows a setting which supersedes the system setting for Oasys Ltd LS DYNA environment software to be used This can be set to an explicit locale for example EN_US or more simply to default which will guarantee correct performance on all systems This preference only affects Oasys Ltd LS DYNA environment software while it is running and has no influence on the overall operating system so it is the recommended solution for the locale mis match pro
8. LSDA files D3PLOT reads these to try to extract post processing information for other items that is not present in the basic PTF file If when D3PLOT is still reading the LSDA file the user closed the model D3PLOT could crash become unstable and often not straight away This has been corrected e Case 23198 If an LS PREPOST database file was read into D3PLOT which only contained nodal coordinates and displacements no element data components then D3PLOT could crash This has been fixed in version 11 1 e Case 23108 D3Plot could crash after the following sequence Create a settings file from a session of D3Plot with multiple models Close D3Plot and read in one of the models along with the settings file D3Plot correctly identifies that the settings file references two models but only one model has been read in An information message is displayed to let the user know which includes the pathname of the settings file read If this was long enough D3Plot could crash e Case 22919 When reading results from a remote network disk the import of nodal data could be slow if the data was not in the native format of the machine doing the reading For example reading 64 bit data onto a 32 bit machine This should now be faster e Case 22313 D3Plot could crash when reading in an LS PrePost db file e Case 22303 D3Plot would read the wrong file when doing a reread of a rlf file and the directory contained both a pt
9. Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 e Case 19947 The default for field INITITER on CONTACT_ _MPP was incorrectly treated In this case a blank entry means use the default value of 2 A zero entry means use value of zero This has been corrected in PRIMER11 and additionally any decks written in previous versions of PRIMER or other software where zero is read for this entry will incur a warning message and possible correction at the user s discretion on keyin e Case 19423 When node 3 of a beam on the slave side of a contact belonged to a segment on the master side PRIMER incorrectly reported an error e Case 19392 MPP LS DYNA appears to ignore contact parameters when determining which nodes are tied The PRIMER contact checker is in MPP mode by default and will also ignore this setting The preference primer contact_check_mode SMP may be set for those that do not use MPP e Case 12098 The logic for determining the correct contact parametric from MAXPAR SMP and PARMAX MPP has been added Note that the PRIMER penetration check is now in MPP mode by default but may be configured to SMP by the preference primer contact_check_mode e Case 21613 The _ONLY option was not supported for CONTACT_TIEBREAK_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE This has been corrected Contour e Case 21383 When PART_INERTIA had rotation velocity defined and used NODEID to set the centre of gravity the nodal velocities were

Read e Case 23363 If a model only contained a single rigidwall then the total rigidwall energy for the whole model was not read correctly from the ASCII GLSTAT file using the LSDA binout file was fine If there was more than one rigidwall then the value was calculated correctly by summing the energies for the individual stonewalls e Case 23279 In some cases T HIS failed to find the LSDA binout file when it searched for results files if the user selected the key or thf file e Case 23184 If a CSV file contained a trailing comma on each line then T HIS would fail to read the file correctly If the trailing commas were removed then T HIS would read the file correctly Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 98 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 In version 11 1 onwards T HIS will now read the file with or without the trailing commas If the trailing commas are present then when T HIS scans the file it will think that there should be some data after the last comma and therefore the number of columns reported will include the last column When T HIS actually reads the data from the file it will display a message saying that the last curve has been deleted as it didn t find and read any points for that curve e Case 22732 If an LSDA binout file contained both TPRINT and NODOUT data then T HIS would mark the NODOUT data components as being unavailable This has been fixed in 11 1 A work

15. Case 19815 Historically the font sizes used in buttons in Oasys Ltd software graphical user interfaces GUIs have been allowed to make themselves smaller if the text is too long to fit in the button This means that the text string is more likely to be drawn in full rather than being truncated to fit but it can also lead to an untidy appearance if a GUI panel contains a mixture of different font sizes Generally it is better to adjust the Display Factor to achieve a consistent appearance but there is now also the option of turning off font scaling in the Options gt Menu Attributes panel This means that all GUI fonts will be the same size but some buttons may have truncated text strings The default is for scaling to be active on which is the historical behaviour As will all Menu Attributes settings Font Scaling can be saved as a preference in the oa_pref file Merge e Case 10669 A popup has been added to model merge to allow the user to easily choose different titles for the target model Mesh e Case 18628 Mesh gt Extrude gt Shells can now be used to create thick shells e Case 17872 MESH Extrude Shell can now be extruded along the shell normal direction e Case 17797 When creating a hole in the mesh if the hole diameter is made larger than the washer diameter the washer diameter is now automatically increased e Case 16786 Detach Solid and Beam options are made available under Meshing gt Split gt Detach Th

Create or Edit methods from JavaScript in a script Now fixed e Case 22317 Part Mass now returns null if the mass of a part cannot be calculated rather than stopping the script Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 29 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 e Case 22312 Rigid Spider functions script did not work for the case where the model has no Include files Now fixed e Case 22301 The BlankAllQ BlankFlagged UnblankAII and UnblankFlagged methods did not work correctly for the Dummy and Mechanism classes Now fixed e Case 22183 The method GetParameter did not work for classes Now fixed e Case 22054 Accessing DATABASE_BINARY_xxxx cards did not work in JavaScript using the database binary xxxx properties for a model Now fixed e Case 21997 Setting the pushed property for a checkbox widget automatically made it visible It no longer does Segments e Case 22890 PRIMER did not sketch SET_SEGMENT_GENERAL sets on solids defined by PART or SET_SOLID correctly Now fixed Sketch e Case 18643 When predictive picking is active it highlights the object under the cursor that would be picked were the user to click This works OK but when the user has requested extra items to be added to the plot via draw associated data in the Entity panel for example element triads this too would be sketched Not only could this make the sketching operat
17. D3PLOT have auto scaled animations by calculating the envelope of max min values over all frames of the animation then displaying it scaled to this single set of bands Therefore all frames of the animation use the same contour scale and the numeric values of a band of colour remain constant over the whole animation A new Automatic each frame contouring mode has been added which instead auto scales each frame of an animation independently Therefore the numeric values of a contour band are likely to change from frame to frame This makes an animation equivalent to a sequence of separately auto scaled static plots The first mode automatic all frames remains the default however the second mode may be useful in cases where data values vary by a large amount over the animation and the large values effectively wipe out any variation in frames with lower values Cut section e Case 17580 The dialogue command CUT_SECTION WRITE_FORCES has been added to write cut section forces to a CSV file e Case 15653 When cut sections are active the current origin coordinate of the plane is now always displayed under the picture showing the plane specification method Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 144 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 This coordinate may be dragged out for cut and paste operations e Case 20441 The display of the vector values entered into the cut section panel were s
18. DEFINE_TRANSFORMATION now works correctly for INITIAL_VOLUME_FRACTION_GEOMETRY Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 15 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 Initial e Case 21862 Rotation if model with INITIAL_VELOCITY which used CID to define local coordinate resulted in incorrect orientation of velocities as rotation was applied both to coordinate system and the vector VX VY VZ etc The rotation is now only applied to the coordinate system in these cases Keyword e Case 23241 Negative values of SENSn could not be displayed inputted into the edit panel for SENSOR_DEFINE_CALC MATH This has been updated e Case 23063 After having written a summary file when writing a keyword deck some keyword headers such as DATABASE_ELEMENT_DISCRETE could be written in a shortened form e Case 22392 DEFINE_CONSTRUCTION_STAGES are now not copied during an orient and copy Also they can now be created without getting an error message about CONTROL_CONSTRUCTION_STAGES being missing e Case 22388 PRIMER would not consider ve values or values greater than 5 for the field of INITIAL_STRESS_BEAM it is not mentioned in the manual but this is allowed e Case 22302 The keyword DEFINE_CONNECTION_PROPERTIES_ADD was written as DEFINE_CONNECTION_PROPERTIES_TITLE_ADD if it had title the keyin function doesn t recognize the above header It is fixed now and written as DEFINE_CONNECTION_

20. PRIMER belt definition would be assigned to belt path points even if it was very distant from the belt path This has been corrected and the original definition of near to actually 2 5 of the diagonal of the bounding box around the dummy structure has been reinstated e Case 22114 If your create a 1D retractor from the editing panel and give it a seatbelt id field SBID of an undefined i e latent 1D seatbelt element PRIMER will crash when you update the editing panel This has been corrected e Case 22027 The seatbelt fitter encountered a problem with SET_NODE labels during auto refit because of a limitation in LS DYNA It is common practice to assign fixed label ranges to structural items in different parts of a vehicle model and to give the greatest flexibility these ranges typically use 8 digits However a limitation of the LS DYNA structured keyword format means that the node set NSID on a two dimensional belt slipring entered as a ve number can only have 7 digits This means that users are forced to make an exception to their 8 digit numbering system for these node sets Unfortunately the seatbelt refitter implicitly assumes that the belt will previously have been created by PRIMER and that as a consequence all the node sets used within it will form a contiguous sequence with no label gaps Prior to refitting a belt it scans the existing definition to find the lowest and highest labels of each item type including
21. This has now been fixed from v11 1 e Case 22007 When reading in a Nastran transient analysis from an OP2 file if the displacement factor on the file open panel was set to PERCENT the displacement values being contoured would be correct but the resulting animation could look misleading as each state would seem to have the same maximum displacement If D3PLOT detects that it is a Nastran transient analysis it now always applies the absolute displacement factor defined on the file open panel so that it is the same for each state The displacement factor used is also written in the bottom left hand corner of the graphics window Part tree e Case 22026 The part tree was showing the wrong parts in Include files if they were sorted in ascending order This has been fixed from v11 1 Preferences e Case 22747 The d3plot ptree_show_xxxx preferences used to set what is shown on the part tree were not being read Properties e Case 22358 On Unix if you tried to write out a properties file to a file that didn t already exist then the file browser would refuse to accept the filename This has been fixed Also if you opened two models in D3Plot and closed the first one it would still be displayed in the menu in the properties file list This has also been fixed Ove Arup and Partners Limited October 2013 Page 79 Oasys Ltd LS DYNA Environment Software Release Notes Version 11 1 Read e Case 23426 When models have binout
