Winterization Maintenance amp Storage Tips Do I have to take my aeration fountain system out of the water in the winter This is going to be one of the most popular questions our customers will be asking you over the next couple of months They will be focusing on how to actually remove their aerator maintain and store it Here are some answers If you live in a region of the country that experiences long periods of cold weather it may be necessary to take the aerator out of the water Know that damage caused to the unit due to freezing in will NOT be covered under warranty For our recommendations refer to the side bar at right D 9 amp gt Maintenance Even though Otterbine units are virtually maintenance free once the system is successfully removed a quick visual inspection should be performed Glance over the float and spin the impeller to make sure the bearings are free To ensure that the unit is in prime condition when it is re installed this is the ideal time for an oil change where applicable In order to uphold some warranties and for optimal functioning Otterbine recommends an oil change after the third running season Winter Storage Oil Cooled Units Aerating Fountains C3 Large Aerating Fountains Concept 2 Aqua Series The unit float should never be stored in an upside down position float down this could create oil leakage For proper storage stand the unit float upright or tilted on its side wit
