1. 1 Isolate the tooth or teeth to be prepared preferably with a rubber dam 2 The tooth should be cleaned by scaling and prophylaxis with flour of pumice Prepare cavity form according to normal dental procedures 3 Base as necessary Preferably use a thin layer calcium hydroxide material on pulp exposures The calcium hydroxide can be covered with a thin layer of glass ionomer base cement Avoid use of any eugenol containing cements English 4 Dispense one or two drops of adhesive into a mixing well immediately prior to application or open the unit dose container by twisting the cap and dipping the brush into the bottom of the capsule immediately prior to application 5 Mix the adhesive with a brush and saturate the brush tip then apply to the slightly wet enamel and dentin for 30 seconds with agitation thoroughly coating all surfaces to be bonded 6 Using oil free moisture free air for about 10 seconds allow volatile components to gently evaporate but do not thin or blow away the layer of adhesive 7 Light cure the adhesive for 10 seconds before placing the composite recommendation quartz tungsten halogen light minimum 500 mW cm Do not allow any contamination of the cured adhesive surface 8 Place the composite in layers of about 2 5 mm or less Refer to manufacturer s instructions for its placement curing and finishing WARNINGS e Dentists and assistants should wear gloves masks and protective eye wear Patients2.
