SE 3160 SA 316B SA 316C and SA 319B helicopters equipped with main gear box MGB P N 319A62 00 000 4 with the following serial numbers S N M1242 M2194 M2516 NT3488 NT3563 3 2888 3 3091 3 11336 REASON This Airworthiness Directive AD is prompted by the discovery of a crack on the bevel gear of the main gear box installed on a Alouette helicopter which may cause the failure of the main gear box and subsequently the loss of the main rotor drive and an auto rotation landing ACTIONS REQUIRED AND COMPLIANCE TIME Within the next 50 flight hours following the effective date of this AD and by December 31 2001 at the latest remove the MGB and inspect both bevel gear faces for cracks in accordance with paragraph 2 of EUROCOPTER Alouette III Alert Telex n 01 67 quoted in reference Reminder In accordance with the maintenance manual 1 Check the magnetic plug after the last flight of the day without exceeding 10 flight hours between two inspections 2 Check the main gear box oil filter at intervals not exceeding 25 flight hours REF EUROCOPTER Alouette III Alert Telex No 01 67 This Airworthiness Directive replaces AD T2001 148 xxx A dated April 20 2001 which is cancelled EFFECTIVITY DATE Upon receipt of TAD 2001 148 xxx A dated APRIL 20 2001 EUROCOPTER May 16 2001 SA 316 319 helicopters 2001 179 061 A
