6. au d importantes quantit s de substances organiques Ceci conduit a des bulles d air extr mement fines dans l cumeur Ces petites bulles d air retirent certes efficacement les substances organiques mais il peut arriver que quelques unes soient entrainees dans l coulement Ceci est g nant dans l aquarium Au plus tard apr s quelques jours la concentration en substances organiques dans le bac a chut des valeurs si faibles que l cumeur commence travailler normalement En ce qui concerne les aquariums r cemment install s on trouve rarement un r glage correct L cumeur d borde ou fonctionne sans formation d cume Ce ph nom ne est normal et se r sorbe d s que le bac est peupl Certaines sortes de nourriture peuvent provoquer le m me effet lorsque la nourriture n est pas d congel e avant la distribution et rinc e Les bulles d air disparaissent tres rapidement d elles m mes apr s la distribution de nourriture Si les manchons d aspiration de l air ou le tuyau air est couvert par des restes de sel ou des d p ts de calcaire il y a moins d aspiration d air mais davantage d eau Dans ce cas il faut nettoyer les deux Ecume humide D abord le niveau d eau dans l cumeur doit tre diminu par ouverture du r gulateur rotatif 4 situ sur l coulement Dans le cas de l eau de mer fraichement pr par e de l addition de produits de traitement favorisant la formation d cume et de pollution importante

17. or bushing 9 Ventilation angle 10 Adjustable joint for return line In the Cubicus CF there is an overflow system behind the black panel to which the light is mounted The system consists of an overflow shaft with combs a slotted pipe through which the water enters the filter an emergency overflow and a return line placed next to the overflow shaft In the cabinet there is a ball valve that has to be slightly closed to control the water in the overflow box If the valve is closed to heavily or the return flow is blocked for some reason the water rises in the aquarium and flows to the filter tank through the emergency overflow In such a case the ball valve has to be opened a bit further and all blockages have to be eliminated If the overflow makes loud noises the ball valve has to be closed a bit more so the water is bottled up 11 stronger so that no air is dragged along At least in the initial phase this has to be controlled regularly and if necessary to be adjusted With the supplied PVC tubes with moulded keys on one side for holding the nuts of the bushings tank fittings these nuts can be tightened or released in the overflow box or aquarium The bushings have to be installed according to Fig 1 Always re tighten before use The nut of the emergency overflow has to be screwed from the bottom The PVC tube key can be pushed out of the chamber of the filter tank from underneath over the tube of the emergency overflow The slide r

21. rom the aquarium water before they become part of the biological waste treatment cycle The Turboflotor s venturi pump draws the water out of the filter chamber mixes it with air in the pump housing which is then cut into small air bubbles by the Aqua Medic mesh wheel 5 This water air mixture is then pumped into the reaction pipe where the organic substances are taken up by air bubbles Foam is formed and pushed into the foam cup The purified water leaves the skimmer via outlet and is directed back to the aquarium or filter sump by the drain gutter 5a 14 4 4 Set up in a filter chamber refer to Fig 1 The Turboflotor Blue 500 is hooked with the holding unit to the rear wall of the filter chamber The drain gutter 5a of the skimmer should be placed just above the water level with the lower edge 4 5 Starting Operation The system can be started when the Turboflotor is correctly installed After switching on the pump air is automatically drawn into the skimmer To minimize the noise level connect the air inlet tube with the blue connecting piece of the silencer supplied Fix the silencer with the holding unit 15 on the back of the filter separating wall Please wipe the plate with a dry cloth take off the foil of the sticking side of the holding unit and press it firmly The mesh wheel breaks the air into small bubbles This method eliminates the greater proportion of noise After the initial start some hours may pass before

25. the first foam is pushed into the collection cup This is due to a reaction between the surface of acrylic glass and aquarium water Equilibrium of electrical charges takes place After a maximum of 24 hours the foam should be pushed evenly into the collection cup The quantity of liquid and organic substances is dependent on the pollution of the aquarium 4 6 Problems Adjustment The skimmer is adjusted using the water level controller so that it works to its optimum The water level in the skimmer must be adapted to foam production If the foam is too wet the water level controller 4 has to be further opened and thus the water level lowered If the foam is too dry the process has to be done vice versa Air bubbles in the outflow If the skimmer is added to an existing aquarium there may be a high concentration of organic Substances already dissolved in the water This results in very tiny bubbles in the skimmer These tiny bubbles remove the organic substances effectively however it may happen that some of these bubbles are drawn back into the aquarium After a few days the concentration of organic Substances will have decreased to such low levels that this effect will have gone and the water flow is free of air bubbles In new set up aquaria a reasonable adjustment is very rarely The skimmer either boils over or bubbles without foaming power This is normal and will be settled as soon as the basin is filled Some typ
