4. ons Fork Guard F650 GS Installation It is not necessary to remove the front wheel or forks 1 Remove the fork stabiliser between the two fork legs A nut secures the rear left bolt from below Bolt on the guide plates below the fork stabiliser Please use the original bolts except use the longer M8x60 bolt F 650 GS or M8x70 bolt F 650 Dakar or M8x40 M8x50 bolt for models with the old fork stabiliser in place of the bolt that is secured with the nut 2 Please clean the area directly beneath the lower fork brace and affix sections of the plastic film there on each side to protect the fork tubes 3 Now you can insert the plastic guards into the lower guide plates and secure them onto the protective film using the clamping pieces M4x12 nuts and M4 washers The fork protectors must be fitted directly below the fork brace 1 e as far up as possible WARNING Take care not to overtighten the bolts and distort the fork protector otherwise you will pull the threaded inserts out of the plastic guard When the bolts are tightened there should still be a gap between the clamping piece and the fork protector Please refer to the manufacturer s specifications when retightening the fork stabiliser bolts Please note If a low mudguard is also fitted it will need to be cut away so that the fork guards with the guide plate fit past 1t without touching On the BMW F 650 Dakar you also need to replace the spacers 2
