8. and use them when you attempt to connect In some cases your device may not contain all of the information that Open Mobile requires for a connection and you may be required to configure some of the network settings manually in order to successfully connect Follow the steps shown here to enter your network settings To enter your Mobile Broadband settings 1 Select Options Mobile Broadband 2 Click Networks 3 Enter the following as required Access Point Name Name of the local access point Network Name Name of the network Dial String Dial string is the phone number you are dialing and any additional numbers set from your dial properties For example if you are dialing the local number 555 1212 and you need to dial a 9 to access an outside line plus 70 to disable Call Waiting then your dial string would be 9 70 555 1212 a DNS Address 1 and DNS Address 2 IP addresses of up to 2 Domain Name Servers used by the network for domain lookup l Some of these settings may not be required by particular networks 4 Under Carrier Credentials enter your network user name and password 5 Click Save ch iPass Open Mobile 1 4 1 for Windows User Guide 2011 iPass Inc iPass Connecting and Disconnecting Connecting and Disconnecting This section outlines connection procedures including network auto detection connecting and disconnecting and enabling Auto Connect Auto Detection If your compute

11. connecting usually valid login credentials are required in order to gain full access amp Open No authentication is required and you will be connected automatically DSL When you plug into a DSL PPPoE network iPass will automatically detect the network and display it for connection Depending on the type of network you may be prompted to enter login credentials Connecting to a Network To connect to a network 1 From the Available Networks list select an available network to connect to You can click the down arrow to expand the Available Networks list 2 Click Connect and you will be connected to the network You may be prompted to enter additional information before connecting Disconnecting from a Network To disconnect from a network 1 Click Disconnect You will be disconnected from the iPass Network Open Mobile will remain running in the Windows system tray If your system enters the suspended state Standby or Hibernate Open Mobile will automatically disconnect any active connection Once the system is fully resumed you can initiate a new connection Note that even if you disconnect from the iPass network Open Mobile will still run in the background and can be accessed using the Windows system tray Auto Connect The Auto Connect feature enables you to make automatic connections to a list of preferred wireless networks without having to enter your login credentials before each connection This ca
12. d network ech iPass Open Mobile 1 4 1 for Windows User Guide 2011 iPass Inc iPass About Open Mobile m If your laptop is equipped with Wi Fi Open Mobile will automatically scan your area for local Wi Fi hotspots If you connect an Ethernet or DSL network to your computer Open Mobile will automatically detect the network and display it for connection Just select an available network click Connect sign in with valid credentials and you will be connected For iPass enabled network use your standard iPass credentials to log in The iPass Hotspot Finder iPass has a worldwide network of Wi Fi hotspots When travelling you can easily look up the location of all iPass Wi Fi and Ethernet hotspots on the iPass Hotspot finder to help plan your itinerary You can visit the iPass Hotspot Finder at http hotspot finder ipass com The Hotspot Finder can be configured for Quick Launch to make finding hotspots quick and easy See page 13 for more information VPN Connections Open Mobile can be integrated with many industry leading VPN Virtual Private Network solutions A VPN provides a secure connection to corporate resources If integrated with Open Mobile it will be launched automatically upon connecting to the Internet ensuring security and privacy for your corporate connection Personal Networks Using a personal network enables you to make a fast and easy connection to a network access point outside of the iPass net
