1. PINPOINT Advanced 5000 Protecting People at Work Model 311 Version Created 25 02 13 Introduction The PerpetualPIT Energizer Station is a unit designed specifically to energize or recharge the Perpetual PIT Product code 310 series and 312 series which are rechargeable Personal Infrared Transmitters for use with the Pinpoint Advanced 5000 Staff Personal Alarm System It can also detect faults in any Perpetual PIT attached to it The Perpetual PIT must be charged at the start of a shift and also after any activation of the PIT in an emergency Please do not attempt to charge anything other than a Perpetual PIT with the Energizer unit as damage to the unit will occur and there will be a fire risk Please read this manual fully including the Troubleshooting section before using the Energizer unit Preparing the Energizer for use Remove the unit from its packaging Plug the mains adaptor into a mains socket Plug the other end of the lead with the correct DC power connector into the metal socket at the bottom of the right hand side of the unit as shown in Diag 1 Turn the mains power on The two LEDs on the front of the unit will light orange and the unit will sound a short beep indicating that the unit is now ready to charge Diag 1 right Operation 4 5 6 Charging the Perpetual PIT The Perpetual PIT must be charged at the start of a shift and2. also after any activation of the PIT in an emergency Attach Perpetual PIT s to the unit by plugging a lead from the Energizer unit into the socket on each PIT at the end furthest from the pin as shown in Diag 2 Press the white button on the front of the Energizer to start the charging process Diag 2 right 7 Normal Operation If the PIT is in good order the LED corresponding to it will flash green during the charging period The PIT is fully charged when the LED shows a constant green and does not flash this will happen up to 20 seconds after the start of charging When the LED shows a constant green light the fully charged Perpetual PIT may be removed from the Energizer If two PITs are being charged at the same time wait for both to be fully charged before disconnecting them from the Energizer When both PITs have been disconnected the Energizer will automatically reset and will sound a short beep showing two orange lights to indicate that it is ready to charge again LED Indicators 9 In the event of a fault being detected in a PIT attached to the Energizer the corresponding LED will indicate the fault The table below shows the LED colours and the status indicated by them LED colours Status of charging circuit Orange Ready to charge Flashing green Charging in progress Green PIT is fully charged Flashing orange No PIT connected Red Flashing red and orange Fau
3. lt detected in PIT 10 If the LED flashes red and orange while charging a PIT unplug the PIT from the Energizer Wait until any other PIT also attached to the Energizer has finished charging then plug the PIT back in to the Energizer and press the white button on the front of the Energizer to start the charging process again If the LED corresponding to this PIT still flashes red and orange when charging there is a fault in the PIT Remove it from the Energizer do not use it and return it to Pinpoint Limited for repair See page 4 for address details Note the Energizer can charge up to two Perpetual PITs simultaneously The two charging circuits are independent of each other and the status of each circuit is shown by the corresponding LED For example if there is a fault on one charging circuit and a normally charged PIT on the other one LED will be red and the other green If only one PIT is being charged the LED corresponding to the lead that is disconnected will flash orange throughout the charging process Troubleshooting Fault symptoms Remedy No orange lights appear on the unit after plugging it into the mains socket Check that the adaptor is connected to a mains plug which has been switched on Check that the DC plug is pressed fully into the socket on the Energizer and is making good contact No Perpetual PITs are connected to the unit but the Energizer does not automatically reset sound the buz
