How to Hang Your Ceiling Fan A WARNING CEILING The fan must be hung with at least 7 of clearance from floor to blades Figure 11 T a WARNING i The outlet box and joist must be securely mounted and capable of supporting at least 50 Ibs Use only a U L outlet box listed as Acceptable for Fan Support of 22 7 kg 50 Ibs or less WARNING Figure 11 To reduce the risk of fire electrical shock or personal injury mount fan to outlet box marked Acceptable for Fan Support of 22 7 kg 50 Ibs or less and use screws supplied with outlet box Most outlet boxes commonly used for support of Ilght fixtures are not acceptable for fan support and may need to be replaced Consult a qualified electriclan if in doubt 1 Securely attach the hanger bracket to the outlet box Nave piaco using the two screws supplied with the outlet box OMITTED ror cLaRITY Figure 12 OUTLET H 2 Carefully lift the fan and seat the hanger Bua N ball dewnrod assembly on the hanger bracket that was just attached to the outlet box Figure 12 Be TWO SCREWS sure the groove in the ball is lined up with tab on SUPPLIED WITH the hanger bracket Figure 13 OUTLET BOX Aa WARNING Hanger bracket must seat firmly against outlet box If Figure 12 the outlet box is recessed remove wall board until bracket contacts box If bracket and or outlet box are not securely attached the fan could wobble or fall An WARNING NOTE CEILING COVER S

UPPLY WIRES AND FAN WIRES OMITTED FOR CLARITY Failure to seat tab in groove could cause damage to electrical wlres and possible shock or fire hazard 4 WARNING To avoid possible fire or shock do not pinch wires between the hanger ball downrod assembly and hanger bracket HANGER BRACKET HANGER BALL DOWNROD ASSEMBLY 1 1 4 THREADED Figure 13 K STUD 2 How to Wire Your Ceiling Fan If you feel that you do not have enough electrical wiring knowledge or experience have your fan installed by a licensed electrician LISTED WIRE WHITE SUPPLY 44 WARNING CONNECTOR 3 P NEUTRAL To avoid possible electrical shock be sure electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring NOTE If you are not sure If the outlet box is grounded contact a licensed electrician for advice GREEN WIRE as it must be grounded for safe operation GROUND From O WHITE FAN WIRE HANGER BRACKET Connect the green grounding lead from the hanger Tanai TROR fore SUPPLY ball and the green grounding lead from the hanger ANGER ALL vo bracket to the grounding conductor of supply this may be a bare wire or wire with green colored Figure 14 NOTE CEILING GOVER insulation Securely connect wires with wire OMITTED FOR CLARITY connectors supplied NOTE If you are using an Emerson Light Fixture with your fan see Light Flxture Owner s Manual for wiring 2 Securely connect the fan motor white wire to the sup
4. ply white neutral wire using wire connector supplied Figure 14 Securely connect the fan motor black wire to the supply black hot wire using wire connector supplied Figure 14 After connections have been made turn leads upward and carefully push leads into the outlet box with the white and green leads on one side of the outlet box and the black leads on the other side of the outlet box 4 WARNING Check to see that all connections are tight Including ground and that no bare wire is visible at the wire connectors except for the ground wire Do not operate fan untill blades are In place Noise and fan damage could result CEILING COVER 3 Screw the two threaded studs supplied into the 2 tapped holes in the hanger bracket a THREADED STUDS 2 4 Lift the ceiling cover up to the threaded studs and LOCKWASHERS 2 turn unii studs protrude through the holes in the ceiling cover Figure 15 5 Secure the ceiling cover in place by sliding Figure 5 lockwashers over the threaded studs and installing the two knurled knobs supplied Figure 15 Tighten the knurled knobs securely until the ceiling cover fits snugly against the ceiling and the hole in the ceiling cover is clear of the downrod Your fan is now wired to be turned on and off from the fan switch 4 WARNING To avold possible fire or shock make sure that the electrical wires are completely inside the outlet box and not pinched between the celling cove
5. r and the ceiling Installation of Lower Light Glass Screw three candelabra bulbs into the light kit assembly sockets Figure 16 Unscrew the finial nut bowl cap hex jamnut and rubber washer from the light kit threaded nipple Figure 17 Position the giass shade over the threaded nipple in the light kit plate assembly Reinstall the rubber washer hex jamnut bowl cap and finial nut onto the threaded nipple Figure 17 NOTE Periodically check that the glass bowl is seated correctly in the light kit assembly and the hex jamnut and finial nut are tightly fastened 5 Assembly of the ceiling fan is now complete Restore electrical power to the branch circuit at the fuse box or breaker panel Slide the small wood penadant onto the center fan speed chain secure by connecting the coupling to the chain Stide the large wood penadant onto the off center fan light chain secure by connecting the coupling to the chain Figure 18 If airflow is desired in the opposite direction turn the fan off and wait for the blades to stop turning Then slide the reversing switch located on top of the fan motor assembly to the opposite position Figure 19 and turn the fan on again The blades will turn in the opposite direction and reverse the airflow CANDELABRA LF SOCKETS BULBS 3 Figure 16 Figure 17 FINIAL NUT FAN LIGHT GHAIN LARGE WOOD PENDANT COUPLING 2 FAN SPEED CHAIN SM
