1. Trouble Shooting 4 WARNING FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY TURN OFF POWER AT FUSE BOX OR CIRCUIT BREAKER BEFORE TROUBLE SHOOTING YOUR FAN TROUBLE PROBABLE CAUSE l j SUGGESTED REMEDY 1 Fan will not start Fuse or circuit breaker blown i Check main and branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers Loose power fine connections to the fan or loose 2 Check line wire connections to fan and switch switch wire switch wire connectlons in the switch housing connections in the switch housing wire connections in the switch housing A WARNING Make sure main power is turned oft Reversing switch in neutral position Make sure reversing switch position is all the way to one side 2 Fan sounds nolsy 1 Blades not attached to fan Attach blades to fan before operating Straws securing fan blade flanges to motor Check to make sure the screws which attach the fan flanges to the are loose motor are tight Wire connectors inside switch housing rattting Check to make sure wire connectors in switch housing are not ratiling against each other or against the Interior wall of the switch housing A WARNING Make sure main power Is turned off Motor nolse caused by solld state variable Some fan motors are sensitive to signals from Solid State varlable speed control speed controls lf Solid State Control is used and motor noise results choose an alternative control method Screws holding blades to flanges are loose Tighten scr2. ews securely 3 Fan wobbles Setscrew and jam nut in moter coupling are not Raise coupling cover and tighten setscrew and jam nut securely excessively tightened securely Setserew in the hanger ball downrod assembly is Tighten the selscrew in the hanger bail downrod assembly loose Screws securing fan blade flanges to motor are loode 3 Check to be sure screws which attach the fan blade flanges to the motor are tight Fan blade flanges not seated properly Check to be sure the fan blade flanges seat firmly and uniformly to the surface of the motor If flanges are seated incorrectly loosen the flange screws and relighten according to the procedure in the section on Gelling Fan Assembly Hanger bracket and or ceillng outlet box is not Tighten the hanger bracket screws to the outlet box and or secure securely fastened outlet box Fan blades out of balance Interchanging an adjacent side by side blade pair can redistribute the weight and result in smoother operation U L Model No 52 ANT
