1. 2. 3 Water outlet connection fig 4 5 The drain pipe from this machine must connect into the main drain from the premises but not into the rainwater drain Information as to the type of drain servicing your premises can be obtained from a builder or the Local Authority The outlet hose should be firmly hooked over the edge of a sink or connected to a suitable drain pipe in the wall or under the sink however such a drain pipe should have a built in air break in order to avoid water syphoning from the machine during draining The top of the drain hose curved end should not be lower than 30 cms 12 ins or higher than 90 cms 36 ins from floor level The water should be able to drain freely and the end of the outlet hose must not be under water It is therefore advisable that the drain pipe if used has an internal diameter of at least 4 cms 1 5 ins Also ensure that the drain hose is not chocked or placed in such a way as to obstruct the normal water flow If the drain hose is to be hooked over the sink ensure that the sink is empty and that the sink plug is not blocking the plug hole If an extension is required its inner diameter must be the same as that of the original hose of the washer a its length must not exceed 2 metres 6 ft Electrical connection WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The manufacturer declines to accept any liability should this safety measure not be observ
3. never use abrasive products which might scratch the surface Long idle periods If the machine is not to be used some time it is advisable to take the following precautions Disconnect the machine from the electrical network and from the water supply Fill up the rinse aid container Leave the door ajar to prevent bad smells from lingering in the machine Leave the inner part of the machine clean even if there is some crockery left by carrying out at least a rinse amp hold programme No 7 If you are moving If you are moving and the dishwasher is transferred to a new location make sure that the machine is not tilted too much during transport 17 Useful hints It stands to reason that a machine of this standing should be utilized and exploited rationally and to its full capacity to make the most of it Therefore place the crockery in the machine immediately after the meals conveniently arranging the various pieces in the respective compartments If only partial loads are placed in the machine do carry out a rinse amp hold programme until the load is completed later in the day We would also suggest that you take into account the capacity and the space availability of your dishwasher when buying new crockery particularly pots and pans all of which should be suitable to be washed in the dishwasher Pots this machine will also wash pots Needless to say the washing results depend on how soiled
4. cooking salt or specific equivalent products for water softeners Adjusting the water softener The water softener is preset for water having a maximum hardness of 40 F 22 d This setting is designed to suit most of the field requirements At any rate if the water hardness exceeds 40 F up to a maximum of 60 F the water softener may be adjusted accordingly This operation should be carried out by qualified personnel who should proceed as follows Pull out the dishwasher from its recess Drill pierce a 1 2 mm vent hole on point A of the plastic tank as shown in fig 17 Put the dishwasher back in its recess Make sure the fill and drain hoses are not kinked Under normal operating conditions the supply of salt in the container will last for about 20 wash cycles whereas by making the above mentioned inlet hole the salt supply will only last for half as many wash cycles Therefore the salt will have to be refilled in the respective container every time the salt refill indicator shows number 10 and number 20 respectively Starting the machine After connecting the machine to the water supply and to the electric power supply close the door and then proceed as follows Turn the programme selector knob to the required setting Depress the pushbuttons as required if any 2 3 page 7 Depress the START pushbutton 1 page 7 At this point a pilot lamp will light up and the machine st
5. strength control The water jet strength of the upper spray arm can be adjusted by turning the water inlet funnel A fig 12 to obtain the best washing results without risking that particularly light crockery is upset by the jets jet strength increase jet strength decrease Loading the rinse aid The rinse aid dispenser which automatically dispenses the right amount of rinse aid at the proper time is located inside the dishwasher door This special liquid product is essential to ensure prompt drying of the crockery and to make it come out crystal clear since it prevents formation of stains due to the salts contained in the water Filling Press catch A Fig 18 to open container lid Pour the rinse aid into the funnel The container holds approx 150 cu cms of rinse aid which will last for about 70 wash cycles The level can be checked through the level indicator B Fig 14 Quantity The quantity of rinse aid dispensed automatically from the container can be adjusted in each single case to compensate for hard or soft water more being required for hard water and less for soft The quantity can be adjusted by means of knob C 10 Important We would suggest that you initially leave the knob on the preset position only after a few wash cycles if need be should you increase the quantity of dispensed rinse aid if the crockery remains dull or shows occasional round spots Loading the

7. apting the base and the lower panel of the dishwasher Fig 26 Following is the extent to which this adjustment can be made Anywhere from 100 4 ins to 170 mm 6 7 ins in height Anywhere from 40 1 5 ins to 100 mm 4 ins in depth The appliance is supplied with the base set 40 mm deeper than the lower panel Fig 26 with respect to the front of the dishwasher whereas the lower panel is set at 100 mm from the floor Adjusting the Base in Depth fig 27 If the base of the dishwasher is to be set deeper than 40 mm i e up to 85 mm 8 3 ins proceed as follows Remove the lower panel A by unscrewing the screws 1 securing it at the bottom and then free it from its top catch Unloose the screws 8 fixing the sliding brackets C adjust to the required depth the whole assembly then retighten the screws Fit the longer brackets D coming with the machine and cut off the end of the brackets if it stiks out cutting points are to be found every 10 mm Smaller portions can be obtained by operating on the holes provided 22 DOOR LOWER PANEL BASE Refit the lower panel by fixing it to the catch and then secure it at the bottom to the longer brackets D with the respective screws If on the other hand you wish to adjust the base for maximum depth 100 mm with respect to the front of the appliance proceed as follows after removing the lower panel completely re
8. arts operating Stopping the machine When the wash cycle is completed the machine stops automatically but the pilot lamp remains alight and to turn it off the STOP pushbutton has to be depressed If you require to stop the machine at any moment during the wash cycle simply depress the aforementioned STOP pushbutton To restart the machine depress again the same pushbutton and the wash cycle will resume from where it was interrupted It is not advisable to open the door during operation At any rate the machine incorporates a safety device which stops operation when the door is opened We would also recommend at the end of a wash cycle that you turn off the water tap and unplug the machine from the wall socket 13 Washing programmes 14 Program Type of load and degree of soil Extremely soiled crockery pots pans and cutlery Normally soiled crockery pots pans and cutlery with a normal quantity of food scraps Normally soiled crockery pots pans and cutlery with a reduced quantity of food scraps Lightly soiled crockery pots and cutlery Normally soiled crockery plates and saucers glasses and cutlery Light soiled dishes and glasses with delicate decorations Partial load to be Yo OU AeA N me completed later in the day Recommended program energetic Program knob setting Required pushbutton and sequence Cycle description Cold prewash
9. counter work top as shown in Fig 24 fig 23 fig 24 fig 25 Instructions for covering the door and the lower panel The door and the lower panel of the appliance are fitted with suitable frames which can easily be removed to make it possible to cover them with a sheet of laminated plastic or stainless steel In this way the dishwasher can be matched to the design of the kitchen furniture The dimensions of the laminated covering sheet should have the following measurements Door Covering Sheet Width 590 mm Height 461 mm Max Thickness 4 mm Lower Panel Covering Sheet Width 590 mm Height 114 mm Max Thickness 4 mm To apply the covering sheet proceed as follows Remove the lower panel fig 25 by loosing without removing them the two securing screws and then free it from its top catch Remove the frames from the door and the lower panel after unscrewing the respective securing screws fig 25 Fit the covering sheet and screw down the frames Refit the lower panel by fastening it first on the top catch and then retighten the two lower screws 21 Adjusting the base This dishwasher is designed to permit adjustment of the base both in height and in depth to align it with the rest of the kitchen furniture into which it is being built in This adjustment which should be carried out by qualified personnel only can be effected by suitably ad
10. detergent The washing powder should be poured into compartment D of the container Fig 15 if the lid of the container happens to be closed to open it simply push back catch E which keeps it clamped down Quantity of Detergent the quantity to be loaded depends on the brand used on the degree of soil and type of load On the average we recommend 4 teaspoonfuls 25 grams 0 88 oz if you have to wash normally soiled crockery and up to 5 teaspoonfuls 30 grams 1 oz for heavily soiled crockery Also take into account the detergent manufacturer s recommendations After loading the detergent in the proper compartment close the lid The detergent will be automatically dispensed at the proper time Important Only use detergents specially made for dishwashers To obtain fine washing results you should only use top quality detergents An insufficient quantity of detergent will give poor washing results whereas an excessive quantity will not improve the results but will only represent a waste 11 Water softener Depending on the area water contains more or less limestone and mineral salts which tend to deposit on the crockery forming whitish markings that eventually cause all surfaces to become dull The dishwasher incorporates a water softener which purifies the water of all limestone for dishwashing In this way the cleaning action is greatly enhanced no incrustations form and during the rinsing phases the croc
11. ed Important The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code GREEN AND YELLOW EARTH BLUE NEUTRAL BROWN LIVE If you fit your own plug the colours of the wires in the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond with the markings identifying the terminals in your plug this is what you have to do Connect the green and yellow earth wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or the earth symbol or coloured green or green and yellow Connect the blue neutral wire to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N or coloured black Connect the brown live wire to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red If the plug is not suitable it must be cut off and the appropriate plug fitted The cut off plug should be disposed of to prevent the hazard of electric shocks in case it should be plugged into a 13 Amp socket in another part of your home The plug moulded on to the cord incorporates a fuse For replacement use a 13 Amp BS 1362 fuse Only ASTA approved fuses should be used The fuse cover carrier must be replaced in the event of changing fuse The right fuse cover carrier colour is the one shown by the coloured insert at the base of the plug 6 The plug must not be used if the fuse cover carrier is lost A replacement cover carrier must be obtained from Zanussi Service Agents whose addres

13. ger possible to modify the setting of the other pushbutton insofar as a mechanical safety locking device is actuated by the START amp STOP pushbutton Therefore when going through the various steps to select the programme the START amp STOP pushbutton should be absolutely the last one to be depressed Door Handle To open the door pull the handle Push the door to close it Salt Refilling Indicator It tells you when the time has come to refill the salt in the container see page 12 Loading the crockery Prior to arranging the crockery in the baskets do remove the bigger food scraps such as tiny bones fish bones meat or vegetable scraps fruit peels etc to prevent the filter from clogging which would cause poor washing results Open the door and slide out the baskets to be able to load the crockery Using the bottom basket fig 6 7 The lower basket is designed to take pots lids dishes salad bowls cutlery etc The cutlery should be placed into the special small removable basket To obtain good washing results it is recommended to intermix spoons with knives and forks so that they will not stick together We also suggest that you stack the cutlery into the special small basket with the handles facing downwards However if the handles of your cutlery are very thin it is advisable to stack the cutlery with the handles facing upwards so as to prevent them from sticking out from the bottom of the sma
14. kery is restored to its original brilliance Operation of the water softener is completely automatic Salt filling After unscrewing the cap fill 1 5 kg 3 3 lbs of coarse cooking salt using the funnel supplied with the machine into the container on the tub bottom fig 16 Carefully replace the container screwcap making sure that the threading and the gasket have no trace of salt After this it will suffice to periodically top up the container with salt only To remind you of this operation the machine incorporates a salt refill indicator 6 page 7 Graduated from number 1 to 20 Following each wash cycle carried out the indicator inches forward by one number so that when the highest 20 number is reached it means that salt has to be refilled even if the supply is not completely depleted 12 Important When the appliance is put into operation for the first time it is recommended that you carry out a complete wash cycle without loading any salt in the respective container All salt refilling and topping up operations should be carried out immediately prior to starting any one of the complete wash cycles with the exception of the RINSE amp HOLD programme in order to prevent the possibility that any salt granules or salt water which might flow out of the salt container during refilling of the same remain for some time on the bottom of the wash tub without being properly diluted Use only coarse

16. ll basket and thereby blocking the lower sprayarm Using the top basket fig 8 9 The top basket is designed to take dishes dessert plates saucers flat plates soup plates up to a 24 cms 9 5 ins diameter plus cups and glasses which should be arranged as shown in the respective pictures fig 8 Top basket raising and lowering If very big plates over 27 cm and up to 31 cms 12 2 ins diameter are normally used the top basket will have to be raised to the upper position This will make it possible to properly arrange these extra large plates in the bottom basket To raise the top basket remove the basket itself after taking off the front runner stops fig 10 remove the slides B fig 11 after taking off the rear runner stops and refit them on the higher position A Fig 11 then replace the rear runner stops the top basket and finally the front runner stops With the top basket on this upper position there is of course less loading clearance in the basket itself which will in fact only take dishes up to 19 cms 7 5 ins and this will also prevent utilization of the basket s raised cup compartments Important When loading the crockery be absolutely sure not to accidentally obstruct the water inlet funnel at the centre of the upper basket Only a correct loading of the dishwasher will ensure good washing results After loading the crockery make sure that the spray arms turn freely Jet
17. move the sliding brackets C Transfer the levelling feet from the brackets to the transom F threaded nut E Screw down the base directly to the transom after replacing the short brackets with the longer ones D supplied with the dishwasher Refit the lower panel and fasten it tightly Adjusting the Lower Panel in Height fig 28 If you require the front panel to be higher than 100 mm from the floor up to approx 160 mm 6 3 ins proceed as follows Remove the lower panel A by unscrewing the respective securing screws at the bottom and then free it from its top catch Remove the lower part of the frame G by unscrewing the respective securing screws and then loosen the screws securing the top part of the frame Slide out the front plate H Remove the screws 4 and shorten the two brackets I until you obtain the required height Cutting points are to be found every 10 mm Smaller portions can be obtained by operating on the holes provided Retighten the screws securing part L in its new position Shorten the sides of the frame G by sawing off the excess part then smooth off the cut with a file and finally screw back the frame to the front panel after having inserted the decorative panel of the front plate H Refit the lower panel and secure it with the respective screws 1 to the two brackets D after adjusting them in height fig 27 If you require the lower panel to have the
18. om the bottom of outer filter B The large fine mesh filter A should be cleaned from time to time roughly once every two months on both sides with a suitable brush To remove this large filter A take off the bottom sprayarm and unlock part D fig 20 Replace the assembly reversing the above procedure making sure that the outer rim of the circular filter fits correctly in its housing on the tub bottom The dishwasher should not be operated without the filters being correctly installed Periodic cleaning of the filters is essential for a smooth and efficient operation of the machine Cleaning the sprayarm nozzles The holes of the sprayarm nozzles should not be obstructed as this would greatly reduce the effectiveness of the washing cycle To remove the bottom sprayarm simply lift it up from its seating 16 fig 18 fig 19 fig 20 To clean the nozzles of the top sprayarm slide out the top basket whereby the sprayarm will become perfectly accessible To remove it disengage conveyor A from its coupling and unscrew ring nut B fig 21 Cleaning the door gasket Use a soft damp cloth to clean the door gaskets The bottom gasket can be slightly raised to clean the part of tub below it Cabinet cleaning The outer cabinet and the control board in particular should be wiped periodically with a soft damp cloth and if necessary with a little neutral detergent To clean these parts

20. the pots are If there are plenty of dried up food scraps or if there are burnt scraps it is advisable to pre rinse the pots by hand or to pre soak them so as to loosen the scraps Cutlery as a rule you should not wash in the dishwasher cutlery having wooden or horn handles or glued parts which will not withstand hot water Silver Cutlery this may be washed in the dishwasher with very good results provided it does not come in touch with steel cutlery The fact is that the oxidizing effect of the soapy water might cause unsightly spots due to the chemical interaction between the two metals Therefore they should be arranged separately in the cutlery basket Aluminium Ware Aluminium is not very suitable for dishwashing Decorated Chinaware some decorations might fade when machine washed just as it sometimes happens when washing 18 it by hand and we would therefore suggest that you wash one single piece a number of times in the machine and then compare it with the other pieces to see if the decoration has faded At any rate use only programme number 6 for such delicate crockery Crystalware and Plastic Ware if these are not certified to withstand machine washing you had better wash them by hand to play it safe There are traces of tea coffee or Something lipstick left on the crockery check that d not working the quantity of detergent loaded in the machine is not insufficient If there is a malf
21. tor Rating during Washing 250 W Heating Element Power 2570 W Max Power Absorbed 2820 W Water Supply Pressure minimum maximum 7 p s i 49 kKN m 110 p s i 758 KN m Installation Positioning After removing the outer carton set up the machine in the selected spot preferably very close to water loading and draining facilities Furthermore the machine can be installed with the sides and back in touch with the adjacent furniture or with the wall The dishwasher features fill and drain hoses which can be turned either to the right or to the left fig 1 to suit the installation The machine can also be installed under the kitchen counter or under the sink see instructions on page 23 Levelling The machine should be accurately levelled by adjusting the four levelling feet so that it be perfectly levelled max allowed error 2 An accurate levelling is a must to ensure a correct operation of the machine Connection to the water supply The machine may be supplied with either cold or hot water In the latter case make sure that the temperature of the hot water never exceeds 60 C 140 F The inlet hose should be connected to a 3 4 gas thread spout Fig 2 8 or to a quick coupling tap Press Block after inserting the special strainer A supplied with the machine Make sure that the water supply pressure is within the limits indicated under the technical data page 3 fig 2 fig
22. unction make the following checks before you call for service it may save you trouble and expense The machine will not start check that the door is correctly closed the water tap is full open the plug is perfectly inserted in the wall socket the fuses of the wiring system are not blown The machine will not drain check that the drain hose is not kinked bent the filter is not clogged The crockery does not come out clean check that the detergent used is suitable for dishwashers and the quantity dispensed is the right one the crockery is correctly arranged in the baskets the sprayarms turn freely and the nozzles are not obstructed the filter is clean There are limestone deposits on the crockery check that there is enough salt in the container the rinse aid supply is not depleted the quantity of rinse dispensed is not insufficient 19 Building in instructions General data The dishwasher has modular dimensions and therefore can be introduced into a standardized piece of furniture having the following nominal dimensions fig 22 height 820 mm width 600 mm depth 570 mm Steps to be taken before the installation of the dishwasher In order to install the dishwasher in the piece of furniture all that needs to be done is to adjust the height of the dishwasher s levelling feet so that the maximum height from the floor is slightly lower than that of the piece of furnit
23. ure The dishwasher is provided with an opening in the lower part of its back panel for the exit of the electric cable and the water intake and discharge hoses Features of the piece of furniture If the piece of furniture is delimited on its back side by the wall no sealing of the slit between wall and working surface is required No opening or other means is necessary for the ventilation of the machine but only for the exit of the supply cable and water connection pipes The sides of the piece of furniture may be wooden or covered with thermosetting decorative for their protection 20 Installation of the dishwasher The dishwasher is to be introduced into the piece of furniture making sure that the intake and discharge hoses are not bent or squashed The back panel of the dishwasher may rest directly on the bottom of the piece of furniture The space between the piece of furniture and the machine need not be blocked by means of a gasket Fitting and securing under a counter kitchen sink or counter To fit the dishwasher under a kitchen sink proceed as follows insert the appliance under the sink after correctly adjusting its height and levelling it as required by means of its adjustable levelling feet secure the mounting brackets A Fig 23 to the front part of the dishwasher and sink by means of screws In case of fitting under a kitchen counter the two front mounting brackets must be secured to the
