1. THE POWER CLEAN MODULE is designed t0 keep the wash and rinse water clean If also grinds up and removes food particles During grinding some sounds will be heard Tmk Model Number Serial Number Purchase Date Service Company and Telephone Number SLUWd AlddVS ISN NOA 140439 POWER CLEAN Washing System Your dishwasher cleans by spraying a mixture of hot clean water and detergent against soiled surfaces of dishes When a cycle is started the dishwasher fills with water to about the level of the heating element This water is pumped through the rotating spray arms through the POWER CLEAN Module which removes food particles and back through the rotating spray arms Soiled water is pumped out and replaced with clean water during a cycle the number of times depends on the cycle being used Load dishes so soiled surfaces face pow erful spray from rotating arms The POWER CLEAN Module removes food particles from the water stores them then washes them down the drain Step saving preparation for washing it is not necessary to rinse dishes before putting them into the dishwasher Just remove large pieces bones and other hard items The POWER CLEAN Module will remove food parti cles from the water It contains a chopping de vice which will reduce the size of food items hard items such as fruit seeds nuts and egg shells ente the POWER CLEAN Module you Hot water is a
2. 1 Read all instructions before using the dishwasher 2 00 NOT let children play in on the dishwasher 3 DO NOT reach into the area below the botom rack until the Heating Element has cooled for at least 20 minutes DO NOT wash plastic items unless marked Dishwasher Safe or the equiv alent If not marked check manufacturer s recommendations Store dishwasher detergent in a cool dry place WHERE CHILDREN CAN T REACH IT Use ONLY detergents and rinse aids rec ommended for use in a dishwasher REMEMBER use your dishwasher only for the job it was designed to do Locate sharp items and knives so that they are not likely to damage door seal or cut the user Properly connectto electricity and water DISHWASHER MUST BE ELECTRICALLY GROUNDED Read the Installation Instruc tions for details including the following 11 DO NOT use your dishwasher unless all enclosure panels are properly in place 12 Be sure your dishwasher is installed on a level floor that will hold weight and in an area suitable for its size and use 13 DO NOT sit stand on or abuse the dish washer door or dish racks 44 DO NOT tamper with controls 15 When discarding an old dishwasher al ways remove the door to prevent acci dental entrapment WARNING If hot water has not been used recently usually two weeks or longer hydrogen gases may build up in the water heater and the hot water pipes HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPL

HEAT DRY When HEAT DRY is selected the air in the dish washer is heated during the dry portion of any program except RINSE Hi TEMP When HI TEMP is selected the water for the main wash and final rinse is heated to 145 F 63 C POTS amp PANS has fhe HI TEMP option pre programmed into it HI TEMP can not be selected with RINSE or CHINA programs HITEMP HEAT DRY A Dry Option will show in the display with HI TEMP Be sure to select the desired Dry Option HEAT DRY or AIR DRY in combination with HI TEMP e Touch SELECT OPTION pad until HI TEMP indicators are shown in the display e Option indicators will snow in the display if they cannot be selected with a program RINSE POTS amp PANS or CHINA e You can change an option while the program is running by touching the SELECT OPTION pad be changed any time the display is on including during a program When the RINSE program is selected options are not available When POTS amp PANS or CHINA program is selected only HEAT DRY and AIR DRY options are available Using PROGRAM MEMORY The use of PROGRAM MEMORY lets you store the complete dishwashing program that you most fre Quently use PROGRAM To set PROGRAM MEMORY for the first time 4 Touch PROGRAM MEMORY pad once The PRO GRAM Indicator will show on the display 2 Select the dishwashing Program Options and Delay Hours This is done by touching the SELECT PROGRAM SELECT OPTION and DELAY pads
4. dishes so they don t touch one another NOTE Keep sink drain plugs inserted during dishwasher operation to prevent noise trans fer through drains Imk Proper loading Always load dishes so soiled surfaces are reached by spray from rotating spray arms Water must be able to drain off completely for best drying results Be careful to separate Items so spray can reach all surfaces Top rack loading CUP AND GLASS LOAD Te top rack Is designed for cups glasses ond smaller items e Piace so open ends face down for clean ing and draining e Load glasses in top rack only Bottom rack is not designed for glasses Damage may occur MIXED LOAD e Load plastic items only in the top rack On y plastic items marked dishwasher safe are recommended e Plastic items can be melted inthe bottom rack e Small bowls pans and other utensils can be placed in the top rack e tems with cooked on or dried on foods should be loaded in the bottom rack with soiled surfaces facing the spray e Place items in the rows between prongs Placing them over the prongs can lead to breakage e Be sure lightweight items are held firmly in place e China crystal and other delicate items must not touch each other during dish washer operation Damage may occur ADJUSTABLE TOP RACK The top rack does not have to be level RAISE e Raise or lower one or both sides to help fit tall items in the top or bottom rack e Turn knob clockwi
5. must wate dissolves and activates the dish washing detergent Hot water dissolves grease on dishes and helps dry glasses spot free Make certain loads are washed in hot water at least 140 F 60 Two ways to have a reliable hot water supp y 1 Maintain 140 F water supply at central water neater Ic check water temperature turn on not wate faucet nearest the dishwasher Let water rur until it is as hot as possible then check with a candy or meat thermometer If Quiet operating tips To avoid thumping and clafering noises during operation e Make sure lightweight items are secured in the rac e Make sure pot lids and handles pizza pans cookie sheets etc do not touch interior walls might hear chopping grinding crunching or buzzing sounds Those sounds are normal when hard items enter the module DO NOT LET METALLIC ITEMS I E POT HANDLE SCREWS GET INTO THE POWER CLEAN MODULE THIS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE POWER CLEAN MODULE the temperature is too low have a qualified person raise the water heater thermostat setting 2 Use HI TEMP WASHING Option If water heating is needed a thermostat will delay the cycle until temperature reaches 145 F 63 C If water is hot enough the cycle will proceed with no delay This lets you turn down your water heater if you choose without cutting back on hot water needed for good dish washing or interfere with either of the spray arms rotation e Load
6. 3 Touch PROGRAM MEMORY pad a second time This enters the selected Program Options and Delay Hours into the dishwasher s memory PROGRAM NOTE Each step must be completed within 15 seconds If not completed in 15 seconds the display will go blank To start the dishwasher using PROGRAM MEMORY e Touch START The dishwasher will immediately start If Delay Hours are in the Program Memory the dishwasher will start the delay count down To change the dishwashing program in PRO GRAM MEMORY 4 Touch PROGRAM MEMORY pad once The dis play will show the set Program Options and Delay Hours if selected 2 Touch in the new Program Options and or De lay Hours you want NOTE If you want to cancel Delay Hours the hours must be advanced to the blank that comes after the 9 3 Touch PROGRAM MEMORY pad a second time This enters the selected Program Options and Delay Hours into the disnwasher s memory NOTE Each step must be completed within 15 seconds If not completed in 15 seconds the old Program Options and Delay Hours will re main as they were In case of a power interruption or failure The PROGRAM MEMORY will be erased Reset the PROGRAM MEMORY for the Program Option and Delay Hours you want DELAY Pad The DELAY pad allows you to de lay the start of the dishwasher from 1 up to 9 hours Each touch of this pad adds another hour of delay to the digi tal display After 9 hours touching the DELAY pad will

8. and silver flatware In the same sliverware basket compartment Direct contact between these metals can cause perma nent damage to the silver Remove spots with silver polish Avoid spilling concentrated detergent on wet flatware Remowve tarnish with silver polish Have silverreplated Allow dishwasherto complete cycle Some plumbing codes require use of a drain air gap be tween an undercounter dishwasher and the drain system of the house The air gap is usually located above the sink or on the top ofthe counter near the dishwasher to prevent the possibility of water backing up from the drain into the aishwasher due to a plugged drain The drain air gap is NOT a part of the dishwasher and is NOT covered by the dishwasher warranty The drain air gap should be kept clean to insure proper draining of the dishwasher If you need service or assistance we suggest you follow these five steps 1 Before calling for assistance Performance problems often result from little things you can find and fix yourself without tools of any kind If your dishwasher will not run or stops during program e s the door tightly closed and securely latched e Has the program been correctly set and the START pad pressed 15 the water turned on e Have you checked your homes main fuses or circuit breaker box e is the dishwasher wired into a live circuit with the proper voltage undercounter models e f the motor has stopped because of an
9. change the display back to 1 hour The DELAY HOURS indicator will show on the display To start the dishwasher during the delay touch cancel to cancel the existing program select de sired program then touch START The dishwasher will start immediately CANCEL Pad The CANCEL pad allows you to cancela program or to clear the display If the dishwasher is washing it will go into a 2 minute drain automatically before shutting off If the dishwasher had not been started it will clear the display Changing or cancelling a program After a program has started to cancel e Touch CANCEL pad once The dishwasher will automatically drain for 2 minutes then shut off OR e Touch CANCEL pad twice The display will clear and the dishwasher will immediately shut off To restart the dishwasher e Check detergent dispensers to make sure they are filled properly for the new program e Touch START to run the dishwasher in the Program Memory OR e Select desired program and options then touch START Electronic display and status indicators The electronic display shows POTS amp PANS e The number of minutes remaining in a program 60 59 58 minutes etc represents the WASHING RINSING and HEAT DRY times The program time remains the same while the water is heating DELAY HOURS e The number of delay hours selected 1 2 9 The display also points out operating problems e PF shows on the

11. d rinsing 6 Use your dishwasher during off peak hours Local utilities recommend thisto avoid heavy usage of energy at certain times of day 7 Kitchen cleanup can be done quickly and efficiently through the use of your dishwasher Most appliance parts that can fit in the dish washer can be cleaned by it Burned on soil however should be cleaned by hand 13 Special tips on dishwasher use Remember use your dishwasher only for the job it was designed to do Some items are not dishwasher safe or may require special care Read these special tips for the following items Aluminum Aluminum loses its bright shiny appearance and darkens in color due to minerals in the water and the alkalinity of the dishwasher detergent Colored aluminum may fade TIPS If washed in the dishwasher avoid placing directly in front of detergent disoenser where it could be sprinkled with undissolved detergent causing spotting pitting and discoloration Follow utensil manufacturers cleaning instructions China Hand painted metal trimmed and antique china fade due to high water temperatures and alkaline detergent solution in the dishwasher NOTE Delicate antique items should not be washed in the dishwasher TIPS Load china carefully Do not allow pieces to touch each other Test one piece by washing it daily in the dishwasher for several weeks Then compare it with the rest of the set to see if colors have changed Crystal and decorative g

18. lasses Crystal can break from sudden exposure to high water temperature Metal trim and colorful decoration on glass will fade in time when washed in the dishwasher NOTE Delicate antique items should not be washed in the dishwasher TIPS Load crystal carefully in top rack only Be sure to load a few larger items in the bottom rack fo reduce amount of force of water spray reaching glassware from lower spray arm Use the shortest cycle Flatware Salty and acidic foods may tarnish silver and stainless flatware if allowed to remain on the utensils A film may form on sterling silver and silver plate items washed in a dishwasher This film is caused by reaction of silver with chlorine in the detergent Gold flatware is not dishwasher safe TIPS Rinse flatware as soon as possible especially if it is not to be washed right away Dishwasher detergent may remove antique finishes Wash by hand Tarnish and film build up can be removed with silver polish Cast iron utensils the seasoned finish will be removed in the dishwasher Rusting will result TIPS Wash by hand To re season coat with unsalted fat and heatin a slow oven for an hour or two Plastics Many plastics will have Dishwasher Safe written on them Some plastics are heat sensitive and may melt or warp TIPS If in doubt try one piece Place in upper rack only AIR DRY option provides additional protection Non stick finish utensils Most can be washed in the dishwasher TIPS Foll
