3. about 1 8 between the Magnet and the Reed Switch If necessary loosen the Screw 17 and move the Reed Switch slightly Retighten the Screw Re attach the hood and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading 12 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt has shifted to the left first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt If the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the left rear roller bolt counterclock wise 1 2 of a turn Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centered b If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller bolts clock wise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened PROBLEM The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION a Use only a UL listed surge protector rated at 15 amps with a 14 gauge cord of five f
4. as shown Be sure that the tab locks into place Battery Cover STEP BY STEP CONSOLE OPERATION Before operating the console make sure that the power cord is properly plugged in See HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD on page 7 If there is a thin sheet of clear plastic on the console remove it Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key and slide the clip onto the waist band of your clothing Next insert the key into the console Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward until the key is pulled from the console If the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip as needed Follow the steps on page 9 to operate the console 1 Insert the key fully into the power switch Inserting the key will not turn on the dis play The display will turn on when the On Reset button is pressed or when the walking belt is start ed Note If you just installed batteries the display will already be on Reset the speed control and start the walking belt Turn the speed control to the RESET position Note Each time the walking belt is stopped the speed control must be turned to the RESET position before the walking belt can be restarted SPEED TRAINING ZONES Next slowly turn the speed control until the walk ing belt begins to move at slow speed Carefully step onto the walking belt and begin exercising Change the speed of
5. rate is near the higher number in your training zone It may also be helpful to set the speed control on the console to AEROBIC to help you maintain the proper intensity level See page 9 High Performance Athletic Conditioning If your goal is high performance athletic conditioning set the speed control on the console to PERFOR MANCE to help you maintain the proper intensity level See page 9 Note During the first few weeks of your exercise program keep your heart rate near the low end of your training zone HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEART RATE To measure your heart rate stop exercising and place two fingers on your wrist as shown Take a six second heartbeat count and multiply the result by ten to find your heart rate A six second count is used because your heart rate drops quickly when you stop exercising If your heart rate is too high or too low adjust the speed or incline of the treadmill accordingly WORKOUT GUIDELINES Each workout should include the following three parts A Warm up Start each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A proper warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in prepa ration for exercise Training Zone Exercise After warming up increase the intensity of your exer cise until your pulse is in your training zone for 20 to 60 minutes During the first few weeks of your exer cise program do not keep your pulse in your training S
6. wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD A DANGER Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in an increased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded Do not modify the plug provided with the product f it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician Your treadmill like any other type of sophisticated electronic equipment can be seriously damaged by sudden voltage changes in your home s power Voltage surges spikes and noise interference can result from weather conditions or from other appliances being turned on or off To decrease the possibility of your treadmill being damaged always use a surge suppressor with your treadmill see drawing 1 at the right To purchase a surge suppressor see your local WESLO dealer or call toll free 1 800 999 3756 and order part number 146148 Use only a single outlet surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor TVSS The surge suppres sor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must be electrically rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps This product must be grounded If it should mal function or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric sho

E TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown Using your left thumb press the storage latch and hold it Pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rail are past the storage latch 2 Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the treadmill to the floor Do not drop the treadmill frame to the floor To decrease the possibility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight 11 A Storage 7 Latch Catch Opened MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE SHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed please call our Customer Service Department toll free at 1 800 999 3756 Monday through Friday 6 a m until 6 p m Mountain Time excluding holidays PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION The power does not turn on a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppres sor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 7 Use only a single outlet surge sup pressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor TVSS The surge sup pressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dis sipation of 450 joules The surge suppressor must be electrically rated fo

GE THE INCLINE OF THE TREADMILL To vary the intensity of your exercise the incline of the treadmill can be changed There are three different incline levels Before changing the incline remove the key and unplug the power cord Next fold the treadmill to the storage position see HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE on page 10 To change the incline first remove the incline pin from the right incline leg as shown below Adjust the incline leg to the desired height and fully reinsert the incline pin Make sure that the incline pin is in the locked position shown in the inset drawing Incline__2 1 Pin Incline Pin Right Incline Leg Adjust the left incline leg in the same manner Make sure that both incline pins are inserted from the direction shown CAUTION Before using the treadmill make sure that both incline pins are fully inserted at the same height Do not use the treadmill with the incline pins removed After you have adjusted the incline legs lower the treadmill see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 11 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg in order to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right To decrease the possibility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight As y

KEY gt PRESS ON RESET BUTTON gt RESET SPEED THEN SET TO DESIRED LEVEL HEART RATE TRAINING ZONES SCAN CALS F CALS CS MAX BPM Aerobic SPEED TIME DISTANCE ON RESET Speed Control Key A CAUTION Betore operating the console read the following precautions Do not stand on the walking belt when turn ing on the power e Always wear the clip see the drawing above while operating the treadmill When the key is removed from the console the walking belt will stop e Adjust the speed in small increments e The training zones marked around the speed control are general guidelines only See page 14 or more information To reduce the possibility of electric shock keep the console dry Avoid spilling liquids on the console and use only a sealable water bottle BATTERY INSTALLATION The console requires two AA batteries not includ ed Alkaline batteries are recommended To install batteries open the battery cover as shown at the right Press two batteries into the battery compartment with the negative ends of the batteries touching the WARNING To reduce risk of serious injury stand on foot rails before starting treadmill read and understand the user s manual all instructions and the warnings before use Keep children away springs Close the battery cover push up on the tab and then push the tab forward

UGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown in the drawings below Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg Reach toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs Stretches Hamstrings lower back and groin 3 Calf Achilles Stretch With one leg in front of the other reach forward and place your hands against a wall Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor Bend your front leg lean forward and move your hips toward the wall Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs To cause further stretching of the achilles tendons bend your back leg as well Stretches Calves achilles tendons and ankles 4 Quadriceps Stretch With one hand against a wall for balance reach back and grasp one foot with your other hand Bring your heel as close to your buttocks as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs Stretches Quadriceps and hip muscles 5 Inner

15. ck This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances Important The treadmill is not com patible with GFCl equipped outlets This product is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illus trated in drawing 1 below A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated in drawing 2 may be used to connect the surge suppressor to a 2 pole receptacle as shown in drawing 2 if a properly grounded outlet is not available Grounded Outlet Grounding Plug Grounded Outlet Box Surge Suppressor Metal Screw The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet drawing 1 can be installed by a qualified electrician The green colored rigid ear lug or the like extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover Whenever the adapter is used it must be held in place by a metal screw Some 2 pole receptacle outlet box covers are not grounded Contact a qualified electrician to determine if the outlet box cover is grounded before using an adapter DIAGRAM OF THE CONSOLE Monitor Display STEP BY STEP SPEED TRAINING ZONES INSTRUCTIONS CD INSERT

27. ws recom mended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise To find the proper heart rate for you first find your age on the left side of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers to the right of your age The three numbers are your training zone The lower two numbers are recom mended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body 14 uses easily accessible carbohydrate calories for ener gy Only after the first few minutes does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the speed of the treadmill until your heart rate is near one of the lower two numbers in your training zone It may also be helpful to set the speed control on the console to FAT BURN to help you maintain the proper intensity level See page 9 Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular sys tem your exercise must be aerobic Aerobic exercise is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time This increases the demand on the heart to pump blood to the muscles and on the lungs to oxygenate the blood For aerobic exercise adjust the speed of the treadmill until your heart
