1. 5 Coaxial Audio Output digital sound COAXIAL The digital sound of a DVD Video disk when played is permanently available on the coaxial socket of your player Use this socket by connecting it to a decoder or Dolby Digital amplifier or DTS 6 Digital Audio Video outputs The HDMI socket permanently delivers very high quality digital sound and pictures This connection is strongly recommended with digital television HDMI OUT which is fitted with the same socket and is compatible HDMI connection image adjustment If no image comes up on your TV screen and you re sure its set to HDMI via the on screen menu or other means try the following resolution adjustment In STOP mode with no disc in the appliance press the ZOOM VIDEO OUT button on the remote control several times to adjust the resolution of the HDMI OUT socket output signals to 5157 i2UP IDBDI or AUTO These changes are displayed on your recorder s read out Note for an S video or normal video connection yellow socket leave the selector set to RGB HDMI connection sound adjustment The sound available from the HDMI OUT output socket can be adjusted in the Digital Audio Out menu Dolby Digital DTS MPEG Connections and initial set up The front of your player recorder T 1 On I Off 2 Change channel or skip chapter 3 Open and close the drawer

Record the current programme Configured recording HDD or DVD discs Configured recording lets you record the programme after a quick adjustment of the duration the quality and the destination of the programme to be recorded to the hard disc HDD or to a DVD R RW disc Note You can start a recording at any time by pressing the DVD REC button on the front twice to record to a DVD R RW disc or the HDD REC button on the front to record to the hard disc also using the REC button on the remote control Load a disc Open the disc tray by pressing OPEN CLOSE Put in a disc with the printed side upwards Close the tray using the OPEN CLOSE key Recordable discs see note on page I I 2 Press the REC key on the remote control Note for an immediate recording to the hard disc press the REC button on the remote control twice 3 You can choose a duration using the key Each time you press the key the duration is increased by 30 minutes up until the maximum time remaining on the disc is attained When the maximum duration is reached pressing again on displays h min which indicates the precise time remaining for example hour 12 min 4 The time remaining on the disc is indicated next to Recording quality If you modify the quality you will also modify the duration which may be useful with a DVD R RW disc which has little space Select Recording Quality with the V key then select a lower recording quality using the key

Select a language using the remote control s navigation keys V A OK The language selection determines the language of the recorders menus but also the language for the dialogues and subtitles on DVD discs if the language selected is also offered by the discs being played Select the country where you live then the installation method using the remote control s navigation keys V A OK The channel installation starts Wait until the end of the channel search and continue the installation by following the indications on the screen and using the V A P lt 4 and OK keys Note Installation with a satellite or cable receiver is explained in the separate Quick Start Guide document The navigation keys are used to select and confirm the menu functions The direction of the arrows indicates the way you move around in the 3 Connections and initial set up The sockets and their uses There are several ways in which you can incorporate your DVD player into an Audio Video system This depends on the sockets and other appliances you have Sound and image quality depend to a large extent on the types of connections used Familiarise yourself with the characteristics of the different sockets on your recorder If you cannot use Scart Peritel sockets the following explanations pages should enable to you to choose the method of connection best suited to the sockets and appliances you have ANTENN Ftt

5. e Downloading may be disabled Make sure that Off is not ticked Does the channel broadcast a TV guide Other problems Reconfiguring your player s initial set up e Open the disc tray and make sure there is no disc in it Close the tray Hold down the STOP key of your DVD recorder then press the STANDBY ON key by holding it down for 3 INIT mili seconds until is displaved on the screen of vour DVD recorder The recorder switches off after a few seconds switch it back on The menu displaved on screen is the menu which enables vou to choose vour DVD recorder s displav language It confirms that all settings made since initial installation have been deleted The DVD recorder has been reconfigured as it was when purchased factorv settings Restart the installation of vour DVD recorder If vou forget vour password e Open the player s disc tray and ensure that there is no disc on it Close the tray The player menu is now displayed on the TV screen Now press the STOP key on your player and hold the STOP key on the remote control unit down for 3 seconds The password that you chose for parental control is cancelled The close padlowk on your recorder s display disappears To erase the hard disc Open the player s disc tray and ensure that there is no disc on it Close the tray The player menu is now displayed on the TV screen Hold down the STOP key on your player and press the DVD REC key for more than 3 seconds

Music library on the DVR hard disc The musical library brings together the names of all the MP3 or WMA files recorded on the hard disc When the musical library screen is displayed you can play a title or file create or edit playlists rename a title delete it or sort titles Choosing a title or file then Play gives you access with the navigation keys to other functions Picture library on the DVR hard disc The picture library lets you look for and view photos one by one or look at them using a slideshow The library displays the last six photos recorded on a screen which brings together the six snapshots with selection buttons Use the navigation keys to access the different photos and start a slideshow When the slideshow begins a banner is displayed for a few seconds This lets you access other functions random playback repetition rotate image enlarge slideshow speed Use the INFO key then the navigation keys to display the banner and access these functions Connections and Setup Copy to disc DVD R RW You may copy titles or files from the DVR hard disc to a DVD R RW disc In the Library menu select Copy to disc and press OK to confirm Select the type of file title to be copied and follow the indications which appear on the screen Note Your recorder has a separate setting for the recording quality on the DVR hard disc and on the DVD R RW discs settings from I to 6 If you modify the quality setting or if there is no
