2. 4 Network setup This chapter gives you basic information for setting up your printer for network connections This chapter includes Introduction Supported operating systems e Installing an external wired network interface server Introduction Once you have connected your printer to a network with an RJ 45 Ethernet cable you can share the printer with other network users You need to set up the network protocols on the printer to use it as your network printer Protocols can be set up by the following programs that came with your printer SyncThru Web Admin Service A web based printer management solution for network administrators SyncThru Web Admin Service provides you with an efficient way of managing network devices and lets you remotely monitor and troubleshoot network printers from any site with corporate intranet access SyncThru Web Service A web server embedded to your network print server which allows you to configure the network parameters necessary for the printer to connect to various network environments SetlP A utility program allowing you to select a network interface and manually configure the addresses for use with the TCP IP protocol For further details refer to the user s guide on the network utilities CD that came with your printer Supported operating systems The following table shows the network environments supported by the printer Item Requirements Network
3. 9 2 lt Troubleshooting gt In the paper exit area 4 Loosen the jammed paper if it is caught in the heat roller Then gently pull the jammed paper out 1 Open and close the front cover The jammed paper is automatically ejected from the printer 2 Gently pull the jammed paper out of the output tray If you do not see the jammed paper or if there is any resistance when you pull stop pulling and go to the next step 5 Close the inner cover and top cover Printing automatically 3 Openthe top cover and inner cover resumes Tips for avoiding paper jams By selecting the correct print media types most paper jams can be avoided When a paper jam occurs follow the steps outlined on page 9 1 Follow the procedures on page 5 4 Ensure that the adjustable guides are positioned correctly Do not overload the tray Do not remove paper from the tray while your printer is printing Flex fan and straighten paper before loading Do not use creased damp or highly curled paper Do not mix paper types in the tray Use only recommended print media See page 5 1 Caution Ensure that the recommended print side of print media is facing up in When removing the jammed paper be careful not to touch the the tray heat roller located underneath the inner cover It is hot and could cause burns The top and inner cover themselves may also be hot due to the heat roller Allows the printer to cool before
