Warning Regarding Display on page 129 Low battery indicator The battery indicator in the upper right corner of the display indicates power level Monitor the battery strength and ensure your battery is adequately charged Five bars indicate a full charge An empty battery icon indicates a near empty battery A blinking empty battery icon and a tone sounding indicate you have two to three minutes before the battery is too low to operate the phone If you continue to use your phone without charging its battery the phone will shut down Activating Your Phone Contact your Wireless Carrier and follow their instructions for obtaining service if necessary We suggest that you read this guide to fully understand the services your phone supports Important You must fully charge the battery the first time you use your phone otherwise you could damage the battery From fully discharged to fully charged the battery requires up to 4 hours of charge time Getting Started 8 Powering On the Phone 1 Press and hold The startup animation plays followed by the appearance of the Home screen in the display as shown Note As with any other radio transmitting device do not touch the antenna at the bottom of the device while using your phone as this can affect call quality and can cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than is necessary 2 If the phone functions ar

16. 2003 the U S Federal Communications Commission FCC Report and Order in WT Docket 01 309 modified the exception of wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 HAC Act to require digital wireless phones be compatible with hearing aids Health and Safety Information 140 The intent of the HAC Act is to ensure reasonable access to telecommunications services for persons with hearing disabilities While some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices hearing aids and cochlear implants users may detect a buzzing humming or whining noise Some hearing devices are more immune than others to this interference noise and phones also vary in the amount of interference they generate The wireless telephone industry has developed a rating system for wireless phones to assist hearing device users find phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices Not all phones have been rated Phones that are rated have the rating on their box or a label located on the box The ratings are not guarantees Results will vary depending on the user s hearing device and hearing loss If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs M Ratings Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices tha

Set date and time Provided you have service from your Wireless Carrier s network this is done for you automatically If the No Service message is showing in the Home screen you can set the time and date by doing the following 1 From the Getting Started menu select Set date and time change the date or time The Date and Time screen appears in the display 2 Select or enter values for the following options Time zone Date Time 3 Ensure that the Time setting and Time zone setting options are both set to Auto 4 Press the Done soft key to save your settings You are returned to the Getting Started menu Set up e mail You can set up your Samsung Code to give you mobile access to your business and or private e mail account s Tip You can setup your Samsung Code to synchronize your e mail To set up access to an e mail account do the following 1 From the Getting Started menu select Set up e mail set up an e mail account The E mail Setup screen appears in the display Getting Started 10 2 Enter your e mail address and your e mail account password then press the Next soft key You are prompted to Try to get e mail settings automatically from the Internet 3 Press the Next soft key You are notified when settings are found for your e mail provider 4 Press the Next soft key 5 Enter your name and
