3. you may also tap on the key Power supply Batteries e Battery charge indicators When the battery is almost discharged your Mondo will warn you in several ways at once e The message Battery low will appear on the screen e A warning tone will sound e The 2 symbol flashes on the screen depending on the model If you are using your Mondo for example you are having a telephone conversation or you are consulting your diary 1 Close the applications in use immediately If you are connected to a computer don t forget to save your data before closing the applications IN USE 2 Then recharge the battery or replace it witha charged battery see the Instructions below A WARNING gt f you must replace the battery make sure that all the applications have really been closed before removing the used battery from its housing Otherwise you risk losing the data recorded in the SIM card gt Do not try to use your Mondo before starting to recharge its battery or replacing it with a charged battery gt To extend the life of your battery we recommend that you wait until the warning Battery low appears on the screen before recharging it gt When the message Battery low is displayed the battery of your Mondo is still able to save your data for 24 hours After this you risk losing your recorded data e Recharging the battery The battery may be recharged using the AC adaptor on its own or with the desk top support Supplie

Telephone application is open and if you are situated in an area which is covered by the network your message is sent immediately An information window opens to indicate the progress of the transmission e If several contacts have been selected and or if the message text contains more than 160 characters your message will be forwarded in a series of successive transmissions e In order to avoid overloading the network try to limit the number of contacts and the size of your messages To save your message without sending It When you have finished composing your message click on ok in the top right corner of the screen Your message is then saved in the Inbox folder If you wish you can view the message amend it and send it at a later time or date e Selecting contacts from the address book When you are ready to send a message you can select the mobile teleohone number of the contact from your address book instead of entering it manually in the To field 1 Click on New in the bottom left corner of the screen to open the page for composing anew message 2 Click on E at the base of the screen The list of contacts stored in your address book which have entries in the E mail field are displayed on the screen 3 Use the checkboxes to select the number of the contact If you wish to send your message to several contacts check as many boxes as necessary 4 Click on ok The display now reverts to the page for composing your messa

To activate or deactivate these options 1 Open the Mailbox application 2 Click on Tools 3 Click on Options 4 Click on SMS in the list of services 5 Use the checkboxes to activate or deactivate Reply requested and Acknowledgement options PLEASE NOTE Your choice is applicable to all your SMS messages regardless of which template you have used e Receiving and reading new incoming messages You can be notified of the arrival of new SMS messages in several different ways gt Your Mondo emits an audible signal bleep gt The screen back lighting is temporarily activated gt The message indicator lamp at the top of the Mondo emits a series of slow orange flashes gt The standby screen of the Telephone application is displayed if it is open gt The lt gt symbol is displayed on the screen This symbol is followed by a figure indicating the number of SMS messages received To read the new received SMS messages 1 Click on the Read function key in the standby screen of the Telephone application 2 Click on the header of the message you wish to read e Composing and sending a new SMS message To compose a new message 1 Open the Mailbox application 2 f the SMS message mailbox does not automatically open on the screen click on Services at the base of the screen then click on SMS in the list of optional services 3 Click on New on the left at the base of the screen in order to display the screen for

10. composing the new message 4 Either enter the telephone number of the contact in the To field or select the number from your address book by clicking on at the base of the screen the address book only shows contacts with one or more completed e mail fields Select the contacts who have a mobile telephone number in the E mails field PLEASE NOTE If you wish to send your message to a number of contacts insert a semicolon between their telephone numbers 5 If you wish enter the subject of your message in the Subj field if it is left blank the beginning of your message will automatically be entered in the field 6 If you wish to send copies of your message to other contacts click on the arrow on the right of the screen to display the Cc and Cci fields PLEASE NOTE In this case the message will be forwarded in successive transmis sions as many transmissions as there are contacts 7 Click on the text area then enter the text of your message PLEASE NOTE The maximum length of a message text is 160 characters If you enter a longer text it will be separated into as many messages as necessary which will then be transmitted in succession To send your message When you have finished composing your message click on Send in the top left corner of the screen PLEASE NOTE e If the Telephone application is closed or if you have not received a signal from the network your message is stored in the Outbox folder e If the

13. virtual keyboard e Emission of sound recordings during communication To play a recording to your correspondent select a sound file Wave MP3 or WMA from the file explorer then validate the operation The recording is emitted and the microphone on your Mondo is cut it is recommended to set the volume to 3 4 To resume the conversation with your correspondent click on O e Closing the Telephone application A WARNING If the telephone application is open it remains active even when you press the button to put the screen of your Mondo on standby It is essential that you close the Telephone application in places where it is requested to switch off mobile telephones such as aircraft hospitals etc To close the Telephone application gt Press for a long time on the program button situated in the lower part of your Mondo e Safety mode In places where it is requested to switch off mobile telephones you can lock the closure of the telephone application by activating Safety mode When Safety mode is activated you can use other applications or manipulate your Mondo without any risk of opening the Telephone application by mistake To activate Safety Mode 1 Tap on 4 Start in the navigation bar 2 lap on Parameters in the list proposed to you 3 Tap on Safety mode in the list of parameters 4 Tap on Activated to activate the Safety mode To de activate the Safety mode 1 Press the W program button A message will

23. d gt Your Mondo must be in a zone that is covered by the GSM network If the place in which you find yourself is covered by the GSM network the network signal indicator light will flash green slowly If not this indicator will flash red slowly and the telephone screen situated in the upper right part of the screen of your Mondo will remain blank Making a call 1 If the telephone application is closed press the W program button situated in the lower part of your Mondo An animated display will appear on the screen and a warning sound lets you know that the connection to the GSM network is established Then the Telephone application screen saver is displayed for more details about this screen see page 25 PLEASE NOTE If another application is open on the screen you may also open the Telephone application by selecting it with your stylus from the Start menu gt f your SIM card is protected by a PIN code The message Enter the PIN code will appear on the screen as soon as the telephone application is opened In this case 1 Enter your PIN code using the alohanumeric keys of the virtual keyboard 2 Then tap on the Validate function key For more information about the PIN code see the corresponding section of this manual on page 10 2 Enter the telephone number you wish to call using the alphanumeric keys of the virtual keyboard If you make an error during entry gt To delete the last number entered
